This study aimed to present a new method based on numeric calculus to provide data on the theoretical volume ratio of voids when using the cold lateral compaction technique in canals with various diameters and tapers. Twenty-one simulated mathematical root canal models were created with different tapers and sizes of apical diameter, and were filled with defined sizes of standardized accessory gutta-percha cones. The areas of each master and accessory gutta-percha cone as well as the depth of their insertion into the canals were determined mathematically in Microsoft Excel. When the first accessory gutta-percha cone had been positioned, the residual area of void was measured. The areas of the residual voids were then measured repeatedly upon insertion of additional accessary cones until no more could be inserted in the canal. The volume ratio of voids was calculated through measurement of the volume of the root canal and mass of gutta-percha cones. The theoretical volume ratio of voids was influenced by the taper of canal, the size of apical preparation and the size of accessory gutta-percha cones. Greater apical preparation size and larger taper together with the use of smaller accessory cones reduced the volume ratio of voids in the apical third. The mathematical model provided a precise method to determine the theoretical volume ratio of voids in root-filled canals when using cold lateral compaction.

Cuprous oxide micro-/nanocrystals were synthesized by using a simple liquid phase reduction process under microwave irradiation. Copper sulfate was used as the starting materials and macromolecule surfactants served as the templates. The morphologies phase and optical properties of them are characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning elec- tron microscopy （SEM） and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflection absorptive spectra （UV-vis/DRS）, respectively. The crystals had four different shapes, namely spheres, strips, octahedrons, and dandelions. The photocatalytic behavior of the cuprous oxide particles were investigated by monitoring the degradation of rhodamine B. In spite of the differ- ent morphologies, all of the cuprous oxide micro-/nanocrystals exhibited photocatalytic activities under visible light irradiation in the following order： dandelions, strips, spheres, and octahedral crystals. The photocatalytic degradation rates of rhodamine B are 56.37%, 55.68%, 51.83% and 46.16%, respectively. The morphology affects significantly the photocatalytic performance.

Objective:The goal of this study is to compare acupuncture（alone）and Warm Acupuncture to determine which is more effective in treating cardiovascular disease,caused by heart blood *** study aims to analyze how moxibustion and acupuncture can improves cardiovascular ***:60 patients with cardiovascular disease due to heart blood deficiency and abnormal rate of pulse were *** patients were randomly divided into 2 groups,30 receiving traditional acupuncture（treatment group）and 30 receiving acupuncture and moxibustion（control group）.Treatment were administered twice a week for 6 *** every subject,Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis method was used:inquiry,tongue diagnosis,listening and smelling,palpation（including pulse taking and body palpation）.The OHDAS（including OHS A）was employed as the main evaluation *** efficacy of both treatment methods was evaluated by comparing the parameters before and after treatment,in each *** safety of both treatments methods was evaluated by comparing any and all adverse reactions between both *** also used a secondary measurement for blood ***:The difference in age,sex,medical history,smoking,palpitations,abnormal heart rate BPM and OHQ before treatment had no statistical standing（P＞0.05）between both *** baseline of each group was consistent and *** difference in BPM and OHQ before and after treatments had a high statistical significance（P＜0.01）in both *** BPM’s and OHQ’s changes had no statistical relevance（P＞0.05）between each *** adverse reaction cases had no statistical relevance（P＞0.05）***:The results of this study showed that both acupuncture and warm acupuncture are effective and safe methods of treatment for orthostatic hypotension due to heart blood *** efficacy of treatments are of equal *** improvement of the Acupuncture and Moxibustion treatment can be seen.

A quantitative PCR（q PCR） assay was used to quantify Ancylostoma caninum ova in wastewater and sludge *** estimated the average gene copy numbers for a single ovum using a mixed population of *** average gene copy numbers derived from the mixed population were used to estimate numbers of hookworm ova in *** seeded and unseeded wastewater and sludge *** newly developed qP CR assay estimated an average of3.7 × 10~3 gene copies per ovum,which was then validated by seeding known numbers of hookworm ova into treated *** qP CR estimated an average of（1.1 ± 0.1）,（8.6 ± 2.9）and（67.3 ± 10.4） ova for treated wastewater that was seeded with（1 ± 0）,（10 ± 2） and（100 ± 21）ova,*** further application of the q PCR assay for the quantification of *** ova was determined by seeding a known numbers of ova into the wastewater *** qP CR results indicated that 50%,90% and 67% of treated wastewater（1 L）,raw wastewater（1 L）and sludge（~4 g） samples had variable numbers of *** gene *** conversion of the q PCR estimated gene copy numbers to ova for treated wastewater,raw wastewater,and sludge samples,had an average of 0.02,1.24 and 67 ova,*** result of this study indicated that qP CR can be used for the quantification of hookworm ova from wastewater and sludge samples;however,caution is advised in interpreting qP CR generated data for health risk assessment.

Rice is often grown as multiple seasons in one year,alternating between flooded and upland systems.A major constraint,introduced from the flooded system,is a plough pan that may decrease rooting depth and productivity of follow-on upland *** penetrating the plough pan under flooded rice system can leave a legacy of weaker root growth *** rooting rice cultivars could have a bigger impact,but no direct evidence is *** explore whether a deep rather than a shallow rooting rice cultivar grown in a flooded cropping cycle benefited deeper root growth of follow-on rice in an upland,reduced tillage cropping cycle,a simulated flooded paddy in greenhouse was planted with deep(Black Gora) and shallow(IR64) rooting cultivars and a plant-free *** plough pans were made in between the topsoil and subsoil to form different treatments with no plough pan(0.35 MPa),soft plough pan(1.03 MPa) and hard plough pan(1.70 MPa).After harvest of this ‘first season’ rice,the soil was drained and undisturbed to simulate zero-tillage upland and planted rice cultivar BRRI Dhan *** overall root length density(RLD),root surface area,the numbers of root tips and branching of BRRI Dhan 28 did not vary between plough pan and no plough pan *** with the shallow rooting rice genotype,the deep rooting rice genotype as ‘first season’ crop produced 19% greater RLD,34% greater surface area and 29% more branching of BRRI Dhan 28 in the *** the topsoil,however,BRRI Dhan 28 had 28% greater RLD,35% greater surface area and 43% more branching for the shallow rather than deep rooting genotype planted in the ‘first season’.The results suggested that rice cultivar selection for a paddy cycle affects root growth of a follow-on rice crop grown under no-till,with benefits to subsoil access from deep rooting cultivars and topsoil proliferation for shallow rooting cultivars.

BACKGROUND We have recently shown that the European Association for the Study of the Liver-Chronic Liver Failure Consortium(EASL-CLIF)criteria showed a better sensitivity to detect acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF)with a better prognostic capability than the North American Consortium for the Study of End-Stage Liver Disease *** To simplify EASL-CLIF criteria for ease of use without sacrificing its sensitivity and prognostic *** Using the United Network for Organ Sharing data(January 11,2016,to August 31,2020),we modified EASL-CLIF(mEACLF)criteria;the modified mEACLF criteria included six organ failures(OF)as in the original EASL-CLIF,but renal failure was defined as creatinine≥2.35 mg/dL and coagulation failure was defined as international normalized ratio(INR)≥*** mEACLF grades(0,1,2,and≥3)directly reflected the number of *** Of the 40357 patients,14044 had one or more OF,and 9644 had ACLF grades 1-3 by EASL-CLIF *** the mEACLF criteria,15574 patients had one or more *** area under the receiver operating characteristic(AUROC)for 30-d allcause mortality by OF was 0.842(95%CI:0.831-0.853)for mEACLF and 0.835(95%CI:0.824-0.846)for EASL-CLIF(P=0.006),and AUROC for 30-d transplantfree mortality by OF was 0.859(95%CI:0.849-0.869)for mEACLF and 0.851(95%CI:0.840-0.861)for EASL-CLIF(P=0.001).The AUROC of 30-d all-cause mortality by ACLF grades was 0.842(95%CI:0.831-0.853)for mEACLF and 0.793(95%CI:0.781-0.806)for EASL-CLIF(P<0.0001).The AUROC of 30-d transplant-free mortality by ACLF was 0.859(95%CI:0.848-0.869)for mEACLF and 0.805(95%CI:0.793-0.817)for EASL-CLIF(P<0.0001).CONCLUSION Our study showed that EASL-CLIF criteria for ACLF grades could be simplified for ease of use without losing its prognostication capability and sensitivity.

In December of 3 years, 87 beef cows with nursing calves （.594 ± 9.8 kg; calving season, September to November） at side were stratified by body condition score, body weight, cow age, and calf gender and divided randomly into 6 groups assigned to 1 of 6 cool-season annual pastures （0.45 ha/cow） that had been interseeded into a dormant common bermudagrass （Cynodon dactylon [L.] Pers.）/bahiagrass （Paspalum notatum Flugge） sod. Pastures contained 1 of the following 3 seeding mixtures （2 pastures/mixture）： 1） wheat （Triticum aestivurn L.） and ryegrass （Lofium multiflorum Lain., WRG）, 2） wheat and ryegrass plus red clover （Trifolium pretense L, WRR）, or 3） wheat and ryegrass plus white （Trifofium repens L.） and crimson clovers （Trifolium incarnatum L., WRW）. All groups had ad libitum access to grass hay （12% crude protein; 58% total digestible nutrients）. The second week in December, cow estrous cycles were synchronized and artificially inseminated. In late December, a bull was placed with each group for 60-d. Data were analyzed with an analysis of variance using a mixed model containing treatment as the fixed effect and year as the random effect. Body weight and condition scores did not differ （P ≥ 0.27） among cows between February and June. Calf birth weights or average daily gain did not differ （P≥ 0.17） among treatments; however, calves grazing pastures with clovers did tend （P= 0.06） to weigh more than calves grazing grass only. Weaning weight per cow exposed to a bull was greater （P= 0.02） for WRR and WRW than WRG. Cows grazing winter-annual pastures containing clovers tended to wean more calf body weight per cow exposed to a bull than cows grazing the grass only pastures.

AIM： To assess the characteristics and quality of endoscopic ultrasonography-guided fine needle aspiration （EUS-FNA） in a large panel of endosonographers.METHODS： A survey was conducted during the 13th annual live course of endoscopic ultrasonography （EUS） held in Amsterdam, Netherlands. A 2-page question- naire was developed for the study. Content validity of the questionnaire was determined based on input by experts in the field and a review of the relevant literature. It contained 30 questions that pertained to demographics and the current practice for EUS-FNA of responders, including sampling technique, sample processing, cytopathological diagnosis and sensitivity of EUS-FNA for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions. One hundred and sixty-one endosonographers whoattended the course were asked to answer the survey. This allowed assessing the current practice of EUS-FNA as well as the self-reported sensitivity of EUS-FNA for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions. We also examined which factors were associated with a self-reported sensitivity of EUS-FNA for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions 〉 80%.RESULTS： Completed surveys were collected from 92 （57.1%） of 161 endosonographers who attended the conference. The endosonographers had been practio ing endoscopy and EUS for 22.5 4. 7.8 years and 4.8 4- 4.1 years, respectively; one third of them worked in a hospital with an annual caseload 〉 100 EUS-FNA. Endoscopy practices were located in 29 countries, in- cluding 13 countries in Western Europe that totaled 75.3% of the responses. Only one third of endosonog raphers reported a sensitivity for the diagnosis of solid mass lesions 〉 80% （interquartile range of sensitivities, 25.0%-75.0%）. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of controlled intraoral grinding and polishing on the roughness of full-contour zirconia compared to classical veneered zirconia. Thirty bar-shaped zirconia specimens were fabricated and divided into two groups（n515）. Fifteen specimens（group 1） were glazed and 15 specimens（group 2） were veneered with feldspathic ceramic and then glazed. Prior to grinding,maximum roughness depth（Rmax） values were measured using a profilometer, 5 times per specimen. Simulated clinical grinding and polishing were performed on the specimens under water coolant for 15 s and 2 N pressure. For grinding, NTI diamonds burs with grain sizes of 20 mm, 10 mm, and 7.5 mm were used sequentially. The ground surfaces were polished using NTI kits with coarse, medium and fine polishers. After each step, Rmaxvalues were determined. Differences between groups were examined using one-way analysis of variance（ANOVA）. The roughness of group 1 was significantly lower than that of group 2. The roughness increased significantly after coarse grinding in both groups. The results after glazing were similar to those obtained after fine grinding for non-veneered zirconia. However, fine-ground veneered zirconia had significantly higher roughness than venerred, glazed zirconia. No significant difference was found between fine-polished and glazed zirconia, but after the fine polishing of veneered zirconia, the roughness was significantly higher than after *** can be concluded that for full-contour zirconia, fewer defects and lower roughness values resulted after grinding and polishing compared to veneered zirconia. After polishing zirconia, lower roughness values were achieved compared to glazing; more interesting was that the grinding of glazed zirconia using the NTI three-step system could deliver smooth surfaces comparable to untreated glazed zirconia surfaces.
