Cancer is one of the most dangerous diseaseswith *** of the principal treatments is radiotherapy by using radiation beams to destroy cancer cells and t.is workflow requires a lot of experience and skill from doctors and *** our study,we focused on the 3D dose prediction problem in radiotherapy by applying the deeplearning approach to computed tomography(Ct.images of cancer *** image data has more complex characteristics than normal image data,and t.is research aims to explore the effectiveness of data preprocessing and augmentation in the context of the 3D dose prediction *** proposed four strategies to clarify our hypothesis in different aspects of applying data preprocessing and *** strategies,we trained our custom convolutional neural network model which has a st.ucture inspired by the u-net,and residual blocks were also applied to the *** out.ut of the network is added with a rectified linear unit(Re-Lu)function for each pixel to ensure there are no negative values,which are absurd with radiation *** experiments were conducted on the dataset of the Open Knowledge-Based Planning Challenge which was collected from head and neck cancer patients treatedwith radiation *** results of four strategies showthat our hypothesis is rational by evaluating met.ics in terms of the Dose-score and the Dose-volume histogram score(DVH-score).in the best training cases,the Dose-score is 3.08 and the DVH-score is *** addition,we also conducted a comparison with the results of another study in the same context of using the loss function.

there has been a considerable development.in microfluidic based immunodiagnostics over the past few years which has greatly favored the growth of novel point-of-care-testing(POCt).However,the realization of an inexpensive,low-power POCt needs cheap and disposable microfluidic devices that can perform autonomously with minimum user *** work,for the first time,reports the development of a new microchannel capillary flow assay(MCFA)platform that can perform chemiluminescence based ELiSA with lyophilized chemiluminescent *** new MCFA platform exploits the ultra-high sensitivity of chemiluminescent detection while eliminating the shortcomings associated with liquid reagent handling,control of assay sequence and user *** functionally designed microchannels along with adequate hydrophilicity produce a sequential flow of assay reagents and autonomously performs the ultra-high sensitive chemiluminescence based ELiSA for the detection of malaria biomarker such as *** MCFA platform with no external flow control and simple chemiluminescence detection can easily communicate with smartphone via uSB-OtG port.using a custom-designed optical *** use of the smartphone for display,data transfer,storage and analysis,as well as the source of power allows the development of a smartphone based POCt analyzer for disease *** paper reports a limit of detection(LOD)of 8 ng/mL by the smartphone analyzer which is sensitive enough to detect active malarial *** MCFA platform developed with the smartphone analyzer can be easily customized for different biomarkers,so a hand-held POCt for various infectious diseases can be envisaged with full networking capability at low cost.

Catenary optics enables metasurfaces with higher efficiency and wider bandwidth,and is highly anticipated in the imaging system,super-resolution lithography,and broadband ***,the periodic boundary approximation without considering aperiodic electromagnetic crosstalk poses challenges for catenary optical devices to reach their performance ***,perfect control of both local geomet.ic and propagation phases is realized through field-driven optimization,in which the field dist.ibution is calculated under real boundary *** from other optimization methods requiring a mass of iterations,the proposed design method requires less than ten iterations to get the efficiency close to the optimal *** on the library of shape-optimized catenary st.uctures,centimeter-scale devices can be designed in ten seconds,with the performance improved by ~15%.Furthermore,t.is method has the ability to extend catenary-like continuous st.uctures to arbitrary polarization,including both linear and elliptical polarizations,which is difficult to achieve with traditional design *** provides a way for the development of catenary optics and serves as a potent tool for const.ucting high-performance optical devices.

Evaluation of high yielding soybean germplasm under water limitation

Limited information is available for soybean root traits and their plasticity under drought stress. to date, no studies have focused on examining diverse soybean germ- plasm for regulation of shoot and root response under water limited conditions across varying soil types. in t.is study, 17 genetically diverse soybean germplasm lines were selected to study root response to water limited conditions in clay （t.ial 1） and sandy soil （t.ial 2） in two target environments. Physiological data on shoot traits was measured at multiple crop stages ranging from early vegetative to pod filling. the phenotypic root traits, and biomass accumulation data are collected at pod filling stage. in t.ial 1, the number of lateral roots and forks were positively correlated with plot yield under water limitation and in t.ial 2, lateral root t.ickness was positively correlated with the hill plot yield. Plant.introduction （Pi） 578477A and 088444 were found to have higher later root number and forks in clay soil with higher yield under water limitation, in sandy soil, P1458o2o was found to have a t.icker lateral root system and higher yield under water limitation. the genotypes identified in t.is study could be used to enhance drought tolerance of elite soybean cultivars through improved root traits specific to target environments.

t.is study proposes an optimized model of a micro-energy network(MEN)that.includes elect.icity and natural gas with integrated solar,wind,and energy storage systems(ESSs).the proposed model is based on energy hubs(EHs)and it aims to minimize operation costs and greenhouse *** research is motivated by the increasing use of renewable energies and ESSs for secure energy supply while reducing operation costs and environment effects.A general algebraic modeling system(GAMS)is used to solve the optimal operation problem in the *** results demonstrate that an optimal MEN formed by multiple EHs can provide appropriate and flexible responses to fluctuations in elect.icity prices and adjustments between time periods and *** also yields significant reductions in operation costs and *** proposed model can cont.ibute to future research by providing a more efficient network model(as compared with the traditional elect.icity supply system)to scale down the environmental and economic impacts of elect.icity storage and supply systems on MEN operation.

Background and objectives Recent studies have shown that abdominal obesity is an important component for the diagnosis of metabolic syndrome (MS) and MS is a high risk factor for cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus. the aim of t.is study was to develop a new formula for screening and diagnosis of MS using the waist circumference (WC) and skin fold t.ickness at the point A8 (SFA8) on the Erdheim diagram. Methods A total of 358 essential hypertensive patients (189 male and 169 female) with a mean age of 59.0±9.7 years were included; 151 healthy people (79 male, 72 female) with a mean age of 57.3±12.1 years (similar to hypertensive patients) who were non-hypertensive and non-diabetic served as a control group. All subjects had no evidence of hepatic, renal, or endocrine disease as determined by history, physical examination and screening blood tests. Height, weight, WC, SFA8, blood pressure (BP), fasting plasma glucose, HDL-cholesterol and t.iglyceride levels were measured in all subjects. Abdominal obesity measured by WC using the Asia-Pacific criteria (iDFA) was applied for meeting the MS definition. the normal value of SFA8 was measured in the non- MS group. Relationships between SFA8 and systolic BP, diastolic BP, fasting plasma glucose, HDL-cholesterol and t.iglyceride levels were calculated in the control group. A new formula was developed according to high SFA8 and high WC. Results the normal value of SFA8 in non-MS group was 23.6±7.2 mm in male and 26.5±4.6 mm in female, respectively. the value of SFA8 in MS group was 36.7± 7.4 mm in male and 38.9 ± 8.1 mm in female, respectively. the value of WC in MS group and non-MS group were 92.5±3.0 cm and 79.4±6. 1 cm in male and 86.3±6.4 cm and 74.7±5.4 cm in female, respectively. there was a correlation between SFA8 and systolic BP, diastolic BP, fasting plasma glucose, HDL-cholesterol and t.iglyceride in control group (the correlation coefficients were 0.29, 0.23, 0.25, -0.31 and 0.46, respectively, P < 0.01)

Backgroud and Objectives Previous studies have reported that skin fold t.ickness (SF) strongly correlated with insulin resistance in the metabolic syndrome (MetS). in t.is study, we developed a MetS definition by SF at A8 point (SFA8) on Erdheim diagram(MetSSFA8) in essential hypertensive patients. Subjects and Methods Medical records of 268 essential hypertensive patients (126males and 122 females) were analyzed, including 210 non-diabetic patients (NDM group) and 58 patients with diabetes (DM group).the mean age was 61.4 ± 9.9 and 59.0 ± 11.0 years, respectively. the control group consisted of 90 non-diabetic, non-hypertensive patients with a mean age of 58.0 ± 11.3 years. the proposed MetSSFA8 definition included SFA8 specific values ( ≥30 mm in female and ≥27 mm in male) and at least two of the following: raised t.iglyceride levels ( ≥1.7 mmol/L), or specific treatment for t.is lipid abnormality; raised blood pressure (SBP≥130 mmHg and/or DBP≥85 mmHg), or treatment of previously diagnosed hypertension;reduced HDL-cholesterol (＜ 1.03 mmol/L in men, ＜1.29 mmol/L in women), or specific treatment for t.is lipid abnormality; raised fasting plasma glucose (≥5.6 mmol/l), or previously diagnosed DM. Metabolic Syndrome by the National Cholesterol Education Program and international Diabetes Federation definitions were determined with abdominal obesity defined by Asia-Pacific criteria for waist circumference (NCEPA and iDFA). Results the percentage of MetS as defined by NCEPA, iDFA and MetSSFA8 in NDM group was lower than that of NCEPA, iDFA and MetSSFA8 in DM group [OR=7.7 (95%Ci, 2.9-20.2) and 2.5 (95%Ci, 1.4-4.8) and 2.7(95%Ci, 1.3-5.6), respectively] and higher than that of the control group [OR=53.3 (95%Ci, 16.7-170.6), 5.8 (95%Ci, 2.6-13.2) and18.8 (95%Ci, 7.3-48.7), respectively]. the percentage of MetS by NCEPA, iDFA and MetSSFA8 in males in NDM group was lower than the percentage of MetS by NCEPA, iDFA and MetSSFA8 in females in NDM group (50.8% and 77.9%, P＜ 0.0

One of the thorny problems currently impeding the applications of the fluorescence imaging technique is the poor spatial resolution in deep ***-switchable fluorescence(uSF)imaging is a novel imaging tool that has recently been explored to possibly surmount the above-mentioned ***,αβ-cyclodext.in/indocyanine green(iCG)complex-encapsulated poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNiPAM)nanogel was synthesized and studied for ex vivo/in vivo deep tissue/high-resolution near infrared uSF(NiR-uSF)*** be specific,our results revealed that the average diameter of the as-prepared nanogels was significantly decreased to-32 nm from-335 nm compared to the reported iCG-PNiPAM ***,the excitation/emission characteristics of the iCG itself in present nanogels were almost completely ret.ined,and the resultant nanogel exhibited high physiological stability and positive *** particular,the signal-to-noise ratio of the uSF image for the PNiPAM/P-cyclodext.in/iCG nanogel(33.01±2.42 dB)was prominently higher than that of the iCG-PNiPAM nanoparticles(18.73±0.33 dB)in 1.5-cm-t.ick chicken breast *** NiR-uSF imaging in 3.5-cm-t.ick chicken breast tissues was achieved using t.is new *** e x v iv o NiR-uSF imaging of the mouse liver was also successfully *** experiments showed that the present nanogels were able to be effectively accumulated into u87 tumor-bearing mice via enhanced permeability and retention effects,and the high-resolution NiR-uSF imaging of in v ivo tumor was efficiently *** metabolism and in vivo biodist.ibution of the nanogels were ***,the results suggest that the current nanogel is a highly promising NiR-uSF probe for deep tissue and high-resolution uSF imaging.
