A kernel learning framework for domain adaptation learning

Domain adaptation learning(DAl) methods have shown promising results by utilizing labeled samples from the source(or auxiliary) domain(s) to learn a robust classifier for the target domain which has a few or even no labeled ***,there exist several key issues which need to be addressed in the state-of-theart DAl methods such as sufficient and effective distribution discrepancy metric learning,effective kernel space learning,and multiple source domains transfer learning,*** at the mentioned-above issues,in this paper,we propose a unified kernel learning framework for domain adaptation learning and its effective extension based on multiple kernel learning(MKl) schema,regularized by the proposed new minimum distribution distance metric criterion which minimizes both the distribution mean discrepancy and the distribution scatter discrepancy between source and target domains,into which many existing kernel methods(like support vector machine(SVM),v-SVM,and least-square SVM) can be readily *** framework,referred to as kernel learning for domain adaptation learning(KlDAl),simultaneously learns an optimal kernel space and a robust classifier by minimizing both the structural risk functional and the distribution discrepancy between different ***,we extend the framework KlDAl to multiple kernel learning framework referred to as *** the KlDAl or MKlDAl framework,we also propose three effective formulations called KlDAl-SVM or MKlDAl-SVM with respect to SVM and its variant μ-KlDAlSVM or μ-MKlDAlSVM with respect to v-SVM,and KlDAl-lSSVM or MKlDAl-lSSVM with respect to the least-square SVM,*** experiments on real-world data sets verify the outperformed or comparable effectiveness of the proposed frameworks.

During the last two decades fractional calculus has been increasingly applied to physics, especially to *** is well known that there are obivious differences between Riemann-liouville (R-l) definition and Caputo definition,which are the two most commonly used definitions of fractional *** multiple definitions of fractional derivatives have hindered the application of fractional calculus in *** this paper,we clarify that the R-l definition and Caputo definition are both Theologically unreasonable with the help of the mechanical analogues of the fractional element *** also find that to make them more reasonable Theologically,the lower terminals of both definitions should be put to—∞.We further prove that the R-l definition with lower terminal—∞and the Caputo definition with lower terminal—∞are equivalent in the differentiation of functions that are smooth enough and functions that have finite number of singular *** we can define the fractional derivatives in rheology as the R-l derivatives with lower terminal—∞(or,equivalently,the Caputo derivatives with lower terminal—∞) not only for steady-state processes,but also for transient processes.

The geodetic numbers of graphs and digraphs

For every two vertices u and v in a graph G, a u-v geodesic is a shortest path between u and v. let I(u, v) denote the set of all vertices lying on a u-v geodesic. For a vertex subset S, let I(S) denote the union of all I(u, v) for u, v ∈ S. The geodetic number g(G) of a graph G is the minimum cardinality of a set S with I(S) = V (G). For a digraph D, there is analogous terminology for the geodetic number g(D). The geodetic spectrum of a graph G, denoted by S(G), is the set of geodetic numbers of all orientations of graph G. The lower geodetic number is g ?(G) = minS(G) and the upper geodetic number is g +(G) = maxS(G). The main purpose of this paper is to study the relations among g(G), g ?(G) and g +(G) for connected graphs G. In addition, a sufficient and necessary condition for the equality of g(G) and g(G × K 2) is presented, which improves a result of Chartrand, Harary and Zhang.

RRM:An incentive reputation model for promoting good behaviors in distributed systems

Reputation systems represent soft security mechanisms that complement traditional information security mechanisms. They are now widely used in online e-commerce markets and communities in order to stimulate good behaviors as well as to restrain adverse behaviors. This paper analyzes the limitations of the conversational reputation models and proposes an incentive reputation model called the resilient reputation model （RRM） for the distributed reputation systems. The objective of this reputation model is not only to encourage the users to provide good services and, therefore, to maximize the probability of good transaction outcomes, but also to punish those adverse users who are trying to manipulate the application systems. The simulation results indicate that the proposed reputation model （RRM） could effectively resist against the common adverse behaviors, while protecting the profits of sincere users from being blemished by those adversaries.

A Study on Uptake and localization of Merocyanine 540 (MC540) in Murine Myeloid leukemia Cells by Confocal laser Scanning Microscopy (ClSM)

The intracellular localization of merocyanine 540 (MC540), a photosensitizer commonly used in the photo-inactivation of leukemia cells, was studied using confocal laser scanning microscopy. It was found for the first time that MC540 not only localized in the plasma membrane but also in the cytoplasm and the nuclear membrane of the murine myeloid leukemia M1.and WEHI 3B (JCS) cells. Exposure of MC540 treated leukemia cells to light under conditions that could cause photobleaching did not cause the redistribution of cell-bound MC540. Rapid localization of MC540 in the cytoplasm was observed 5 minutes after exposure of leukemia cell to MC540, indicating that MC540 could promptly be internalized by these two leukemia cell lines. In contrast, localization of MC540 was limited only to the plasma membrane of erythrocytes. These results suggest that the binding pattern of MC540 is cell type dependent and may be related to the efficacy of photosenitization in photodynamic therapy.

Utilization of a spiropyran derivative in a polymeric film optode for selective fluorescent sensing of zinc ion

A new spiropyran derivative was synthesized and first utilized in a polymericfilm-based optical sensor for zinc ion. Spiropyrans, combining the characteristics of metal bindingand signal transduction, show potential function in the design of optical chemical sensors(optodes) toward metal ions. When embedded in a plasticized poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane,the newly synthesized spiropyran derivative 1.exhibits obvious fluorescence enhancement at 630 nm inthe presence of zinc ion in aqueous solution. With the optimum condition described, the optodemembrane responds to zinc ion over a dynamic range of 4.94x1.^(-7) to 4.1.x1.^(-4)mol·l^(-1., witha detection limit of 1.51.1.^(-7) mol·l^(-1.. The membrane not only displays excellentphotostability, reproducibility and reversibility, but also exhibits high selectivity toward zincion over transition metal ions including Hg^(2+), Cd^(2+), Pb^(2+), Cu^(2+), Fe^(3+) and commoncationic ions presented in the physiological fluids.

Predicting the Maintainability of Open Source Software Using Design Metrics

This paper empirically investigates the relationships between 1. design metrics and maintainability of 1.8 Java open source software. The results show that size and complexity metrics are strongly related to the maintainability of open source software. However, cohesion and coupling, as currently captured by existing metrics, do not seem to have a significant impact on maintainability. When used together, these metrics can predict system maintainability fairly accurately （mean MREs below 30%）.

Tissue Response of an Osteoinductive Bioceramic in Bone Defect Rabbit Model

HA/TCP and HA rods （φ5 mm×1. mm） were made for implantation in New Zealand white rabbit with different condition. Sixty three rabbit were divided into three groups： group 1.（n=1.）, group 2 （n=27） and group 3 （n=1.）. In group 1. 1. mm radius was defected, and one HA/TCP rod was implanted in the muscle a distant away from the bone defect area. In group 2, also, 1. mm radius was defected, one HA rod was implanted in the muscle a distant away from the bone defect area. In group 3, two HA/TCP rods were implanted in the dorsal muscle of the rabbit with bone intact. Histological observation showed that in group 1. some new bone was found only two months after implantation （n=2）, and obvious immature woven bone could be observed in these bioceramics from the 3rd month on. However, in group 3, bone began to be found 6 months after implantation （n=2）. In group 2, we could not find any bone tissue up to 9 month’s observation. These results suggest that, first, the bone defect model could significantly accelerate bone formation at non-osseous sites in rabbits; second,. HA/TCP bioceramics were confirmed with osteoinductive property while HA bioceramics without osteoinductive property nearly. Thus, bone defect might be a good animal model for further researches for osteoinductive bioceramics.
