Multispectral Phenotyping and Genetic Analyses of Spring Appearance in Greening Plant, Phedimus spp.

The change in appearance during the seasonal transitions in ornamental greening plants is an important *** particular,the early onset of green leaf color is a desirable trait for a *** this study,we established a method for phenotyping leaf color change by multispectral imaging and performed genetic analysis based on the phenotypes to clarify the potential of the approach in breeding greening *** performed multispectral phenotyping and quantitative trait locus(QTL)analysis of an F1 population derived from 2 parental lines of Phedimus takesimensis,known to be a drought and heat-tolerant rooftop plant *** imaging was conducted in April of 2019 and 2020 when dormancy breakage occurs and growth extension *** component analysis of 9 different wavelength values showed a high contribution from the first principal component(PC1),which captured variation in the visible light *** high interannual correlation in PC1 and in the intensity of visible light indicated that the multispectral phenotyping captured genetic variation in the color of *** also performed restriction site-associated DNA sequencing and obtained the first genetic linkage map of Phedimus *** analysis revealed 2 QTLs related to early dormancy *** on the genotypes of the markers underlying these 2 QTLs,the F1 phenotypes with early(late)dormancy break,green(red or brown)leaves,and a high(low)degree of vegetative growth were *** results suggest the potential of multispectral phenotyping in the genetic dissection of seasonal leaf color changes in greening plants.

The existence of the Cretaceous-Tertiary （K/T） boundary in the non-marine succession is expected at Jiayin in the Heilongjiang River area, China. Zircons from a tuff sample from the Baishantou Member of Wuyun Formation in Jiayin were analyzed by the laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry （LA-ICP-MS） U-Pb dating and fission-track dating methods. Ages of 64.1±0.7 Ma （U-Pb） and 61.7±1.8 Ma （fission-track dating） were obtained, which allow reevaluation of a previously reported late Maastrichian age for the tuff layer that was in conflict with the paleontological evidence. These results confirm the Danian age of the section in agreement with the paleontological evidence.

Characterization of Hydroxyapatite Film on Titanium Substrate by Sputtering Technique

Radiofrequeut magnetron sputtering technique was used to produce calcium phosphate coated on the titurdum substrates, and the sputtered coating films were crystallized in an autoclave at 110℃ using a low temperature hydrothermal technique. The crystallization of as-sputtered coating film on the titanium substrates were amorphous calcium phosphate film. However, after the hydrothermal technique, calcium phosphate crystals grew and these were cohumnar crystal. The Ca/P ratio of sputtered coating films in 1.6 to 2.0.

Expression of the Japanese oak silkworm Antheraea yamamai fibroin gene in the domesticated silkworm Bombyx mori

To understand the evolutionary conservation ofthe gene expression mechanism and secretion machinery between Antheraea and Bombyx fibroins, we introduced the genomic A. yamamai fibroin gene into the domesticated silkworm, B. mori. The spliced A. yamamai fibroin mRNA appeared only in the posterior region of the silk gland of the transgenic silkworm, suggesting that the functions of the fibroin promoter region and the splicing machinery are conserved between these two species. The A. yamarnai fibroin protein was detected in the lumen of the silk gland of the transgenic silkworm, albeit at lower levels compared with the B. mori-type fibroin. We found a strong degeneration of the posterior region of the silk gland of the transgenic silkworm. As a result, the cocoon shell weight was much lower in the transgenic silkworm than in the non-transgenic line. These results indicate that the promoter function and splicing machinery are well conserved between A. yamamai and B. mori but that the secretion mechanism of fibroin is diversified between the two.

Three-Dimensional Rainbow Schlieren Measurements in Underexpanded Sonic Jets from Axisymmetric Convergent Nozzles

The rainbow schlieren deflectometry has been combined with the computed tomography to obtain three-dimensional density fields of shock containing free jets and we call the method the schlieren CT. Experiments on the schlieren CT have been performed at a nozzle pressure ratio of 4.0 by using an axisymmetric convergent nozzle with an inner diameter of 10 mm at the exit where the nozzle was operated at an underexpanded condition. Multidirectional rainbow schlieren pictures of an underexpanded sonic jet can be acquired by rotating the nozzle about its longitudinal axis in equal angular intervals and the three-dimensional density fields are reconstructed by the schlieren CT. The validity of the schlieren CT is verified by a comparison with the density fields reconstructed by the Abel inversion method. As a result, it is found that excellent quantitative agreement is reached between the three-dimensional jet density fields reconstructed from both methods.

BACKGROUND Intracortical chondroma of the metacarpal bone which could be painful is an extremely rare condition and previously only one case has been *** to the similar physical features and appearance on clinical imaging,it is difficult to differentiate between intracortical chondroma and osteoid ***,pathological examination is usually required to establish a definite diagnosis,which is often carried out only after tumor *** this study,we describe a case of intracortical chondroma which developed in the metacarpal bone and demonstrate the utility of magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).CASE SUMMARY We present a case of a 40-year-old man with intracortical chondroma of the metacarpal bone who was strongly suspected of having a tumor,and it was confirmed using contrast-enhanced MRI and successfully treated with *** performed before tumor removal revealed signal intensity similar to that of the nidus of an osteoid ***,no abnormal intensity was observed in the bone or soft tissues surrounding the *** abnormalities on images would indicate the presence of soft-tissue inflammation,which are characteristics of osteoid ***,contrast-enhanced imaging revealed no increased enhancement of the areas surrounding the *** is the first report to describe the contrast-enhanced MRI features of intracortical *** may serve as a guide for clinicians when intracortical chondroma is *** The contrast-enhanced MRI was useful for the differential diagnosis of intracortical chondroma.

A Straight-bladed Vertical Axis Wind Turbine with a Directed Guide Vane Row-Effect of Guide Vane Geometry on the Performance-

The objective of this study is to show the effect of guide vane geometry on the performance. In order to overcome the disadvantages of vertical axis wind turbine, a straight-bladed vertical axis wind turbine （S-VAWT） with a directed guide vane row has been proposed and tested by the authors. According to previous studies, it was clarified that the performance of the turbine can be improved by means of the directed guide vane row. However, the guide vane geometry of S-VAWT has not been optimized so far. In order to clarify the effect of guide vanegeometry, the effects of setting angle and gap between rotor blade and guide vane on power coefticlent and start- ing characteristic were investigated in the experiments. The experimental study of the proposed wind turbine was carried out by a wind tunnel. The wind tunnel with a diameter of 1.8m is open jet type. The wind velocity is 8 m/s in the experiments. The rotor has three straight blades with a profile of NACA0018 and a chord length of 100 mm, a diameter of 0.6 m and a blade height of 0.7 m. The guide vane row consists of 3 arc plates.

Drying of Flowing Liquid Film on Rotating Disk

Recently,development of high technology has been required for the formation of uniform thin film in manufacturing processes of semiconductor as the precision instruments become more sophisticated.A method called spin coating is often used for spreading photoresist on a wafer surface and drying photoresist *** spin coating process,photoresist is uniformly spread on the wafer surface by centrifugal force caused by rotating ***,it is a serious concern that streaky lines,which are caused by spiral vortices,appear on the wafer surface and prevent the formation of uniform film in the case of high rotating *** the other hand,in the case of low rotating speed,a small hump of the film is formed near the wafer *** main purpose of this study is to make clear the drying characteristics of the flowing liquid film on the rotating *** distribution of the flowing liquid film is captured by an infrared thermal video camera and radial gradient of the film temperature is introduced in order to evaluate the drying characteristic of the flowing film under steady state *** of the flow rate of the liquid film on the film temperature are *** film temperature gradually decreases in the radial direction in all *** low rotating speed,the radial gradient of the film temperature is almost constant *** the other hand,at high rotating speed,the radial gradient of the film temperature takes a certain maximum *** is found that the location of the gradient peak corresponds with the transition region of the air boundary layer,in which spiral vortices swirl,and shifts to the inner side of the disk with an increase of the liquid flow rate.

Birth after intracytoplasmic sperm injection of ejaculated spermatozoa from a man with mosaic Klinefelter's syndrome

Aim:To report a birth after intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) of ejaculated spermatozoa from a man with mosaic Klinefelter's syndrome detected by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) ***:A 35-year- old man with a normal appearance consulted our hospital because of sterility over a 5-year *** analysis showed low-incidence mosaic Klinefelter's *** FISH,96 % hyperploidy of the lymphocytes was *** examined the sex chromosome of the ejaculated *** FISH,we examined 200 ejacu- lated spermatozoa and no hyperploidy was ***:The 33-year-old female partner of the male patient underwent an uncomplicated controlled ovarian hyperstimulation sequence using a combined recombinant-follicle stimulating hormone (rec-FSH) + human menopausal gonadotrophin (hMG) protocol,following late luteal phase pituitary down *** culminated in the retrieval of seven oocytes,six of which were fertilized with ICSI. One ICSI attempt led to clinical pregnancy with a healthy baby ***:We report a male patient with low- incidence mosaic Klinefelter's syndrome whose ejaculated spermatozoa were identified as being haploid by FISH before ICSI,leading to the successful pregnancy of his wife and the birth of a healthy baby girl.
