We report an experimental route for synthesizing perovskite-structured strontium titanate （SrTiO3） nanocubes using an alkali hydrothermal process at low temperatures without further heating. Furthermore, we studied the influence of heating time （at 180℃） on the crystallinity, morphology, and perovskite phase formation of SrTiO3. The SrTiO3 powder, which is formed via nanocube agglomeration, transforms into cubic particles with a particle size of 120--150 nm after 6 h of hydrothermal sintering. The crystallinity and percentage of the perovskite phase in the product increased with heating time. The cubic particles contained 31.24at% anatase TiO2 that originated fi＇om the precursor. By varying the weight ratio of anatase TiO2 used to react with the strontium salt precursor, we reduced the anatase-TiO2 content to 18.8at%. however, the average particle size increased when the anatase-TiO2 content decreased.

Objective:To investigate the antidiabetic activity of Ocimum tenuiflorum L.(***) leaves used in the traditional medicine management of diabetes in ***:*** leaves were extracted sequentially with hexane,chloroform,ethyl acetate,methanol,and *** extracts were evaluated in terms of antidiabetic activity by using acute,subcutaneous glucose tolerance,and sub-chronic tests in streptozotocininduced diabetic *** extracts were also subjected to phytochemical ***:With an acute dose(1 g/kg),the methanol extracts showed significant reduction(31%) in fasting blood glucose(FBG) of the streptozotocin-induced diabetic *** FBG-decreasing effect of ethyl acetate extract was more rapid than that of the other extracts;the decreasing rates were 20%after 2 h,21%after 3 h,and 8%after 5 and 7 *** 7 h(31%),the effect of methanol extract on FBG was significantly lower than that of *** the subcutaneous glucose tolerance test,only methanol and hexane extracts showed the similarity of metformin in diabetic *** 14 days,the effects of these extracts were similar to those of metformin(63.33%).The total flavonoid and phenolic contents of extracts decreased as the polarity of the extraction solvent ***:The results obtained provide support for a possible use of *** leaves in managing hyperglycemia and preventing the complications associated with it in type 2 diabetic.

Beneficiation of Malaysian iron ore is becoming necessary as iron resources are depleting. however, the upgrading process is challenging because of the weak magnetic properties of Malaysian iron ore. In this study, bio-char derived from oil palm empty fruit bunch （EFB） was utilized as an energy source for reduction roasting. Mixtures of Malaysian iron ore and the bio-char were pressed into briquettes and subjected to reduction roasting processes at 873-1173 K. The extent of reduction was estimated on the basis of mass loss, and the mag-netization of samples was measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer （VSM）. When reduced at 873 K, the original goethite-rich ore was converted into hematite. An increase in temperature to 1073 K caused a significant conversion of hematite into magnetite and enhanced the magnetic susceptibility and saturation magnetization of samples. The magnetic properties diminished at 1173 K as the iron ore was par-tially reduced to wustite. This reduction roasting by using the bio-char can assist in upgrading the iron ore by improving its magnetic proper-ties

Whenever the mobile station moves from the range of one access point and comes to the range of another access point a handoff process is occurred. This process takes a long time when using the IEEE 802.11 standard handoff and this delay affect the real time and multimedia applications. This paper provides a layer 2 handoff process for the IEEE 802.11 that is able to eliminate the scanning delay and reduce the total handoff delay.

Objective:To determine the anti-proliferative activity of Abrus precatorius(***)leaf extracts and their effect on cell ***:*** leaves were extracted successively with hexane,ethyl acetate and methanol by Soxhlet *** extract was prepared by decoction at 50 ℃.Extracts of *** leaves were used to treat selected cancer and normal cell lines for72 ***,3-(4,5-dimethyl thiazol-2-yl)2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide assay was performed to determine cell *** of cell cycle arrest,apoptosis assay and apoptosis protein expressions were determined by flow ***:Methanolic extract of *** leaves showed the lowest IC50 on MDA-MB-231 cells at(26.40±5.40)μg/*** cytometry analysis revealed that cell arrest occurred at G0/G1 phase and the apoptosis assay showed the occurrence of early apoptosis at 48 h in MDAMB-231 cells treated with methanolic extract of *** *** extract of *** leaves induced apoptosis by upregulation of Bax,p53 and caspase-3 and downregulation of ***:Methanolic extract of A precatorius leaves promotes MDA-MB-231 cell death by inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis possibly via the mitochondrial-related pathway.

A Schiff base, (E)-ethyl-4-(2-oxoacenaphthylen-1(2h)-ylideneamino)benzoate, (E4AB) had been synthesized in good yield by the acid-catalyzed condensation reaction of acenaphthenequinone and ethyl-4-aminobenzoate in methanolic solution. The synthesized compound was elucidated by elemental analysis (ChN), FTIR, 1h-NMR, 13C-NMR and single crystal X-ray diffraction. E4AB crystallized in the monoclinic crystal system with space group P21/c, Z = 4, V = 1569.3(2) ?3 and unit cell parameters a = 9.1589(8) , b = 21.2003(17)?, c =8.4502(7) ?, β= 106.972(2)°. The crystal structure of the compound is stabilized by intermolecular C-h···O hydrogen bonds and weak intermolecular π···π interactions. The title compound had been tested for the antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis (B. subtilis), Enterobacter and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense (Foc) by disc-diffusion method. E4AB is relatively active against Foc which is a pathogen that cause Wilt disease (also well known as Panama disease) in banana plantation.

The effect of progesterone on uterine fluid ph &endometrial nhe-1 protein expression in rats

A precise regulation of the uterine fluid volume and ph is essential for a successful embryo implantation. Progesterone has been reported to participate in uterine fluid volume regulation during this period, however its effect on the uterine fluid ph is unknown. As endometrial fluid absorption has been proposed to occur secondary to sodium (Na+) absorption under progesterone mediated effect, we therefore hy-pothesize that there may be a concomitant changes in fluid volume and ph if sodium-hydrogen exchanger (NhE), a protein responsible for both luminal Na+ absorption and h+ extrusion is involved. In view of these, our study aimed to investigate the possibility that progesterone affect the uterine fluid ph and endometrial NhE expression. Ovariectomised female Sprague- Dawley (SD) rats were treated with peanut oil (vehicle), oestradiol-3-benzoate and progesterone for three consecutive days. On the fourth day, in-vivo uterine perfusions were performed on anaesthetized rats. The collected perfusate were analyzed for the changes in ph. The effect of amiloride, a non-specific Na+-channel blocker on the ph was investigated. The expression of uterine NhE-1 protein was detected by Western blotting and immunohistochemistry. Our findings indicate that the fluid ph is the lowest in progesterone-treated group and amiloride ad-ministration significantly increased the ph in the same treatment group (p hE-1 proteins were significantly expressed in the progesterone-treated group. In conclusion, progesterone induces a reduction of the uterine fluid ph and is amiloride-sensitive. The up-regulation of NhE-1 under a common proge-sterone effect may explain the role of this ex-changer in regulating the uterine fluid ph.

利用固相微萃取法(SPME)分析优质商品辣椒三个不同成熟阶段(绿色、转色和红色)挥发性香味物质的变化,采用统计学的最优化方法,得到萃取辣椒6种主要香味成分——已醛、2-异丁基-3-甲氧基吡嗪、2,3-丁二酮、3-蒈烯、转-2-已烯醛和芳樟醇的最佳实验条件,即固相微萃取温度60℃,时间30min。并用GC-MS观察辣椒鲜果中这些重要香味物质的变化。结果表明,随着辣椒的成熟,已醛和2-异丁基-3-甲氧基吡嗪明显减少,而与甜味和果香味有关的物质如2,3-丁二酮、3-蒈烯、转-2-已烯醛和芳樟醇则增加。利用SPME法能很容易检测到辣椒香味化合物的含量,而且,该方法和顶空分析法一样,也可用来分析商品辣椒的品质或挥发性物质。

Photosensitizing Effect of Porphyrin Films as Organic Photodetector

A set of organic photodetector devices arranged as indium doped tin oxide (ITO)/porphyrin/TiO2/aluminum has been fabricated and its performance has been tested in dark and under various illumination of visible light intensity from 20-100 mW/cm2. Four devices were prepared using natural porphyrin by 1, 3, 5 and 7 times of spin coating. First, porphyrin film was deposited onto indium doped tin oxide (ITO)-covered glass substrate by spin coating technique. Second, titanium dioxide (TiO2) film was deposited on top of the porphyrin film using similar technique. Porphyrin was isolated from spirulina microalgae and TiO2 nanoparticle was prepared by controlled hydrolysis technique using titanium(IV) etoxide, Ti(OC2h5)4, and potassium chloride. The films were characterized by UV-vis spectrophotometer to investigate their absorption spectra. The porphyrin film has maximum absorbance at 660 nm, which is in the red region. Then, an aluminum electrode was prepared on top of TiO2 film by electron beam evaporation technique. The resulting device shows rectification property in dark and shows photosensitizing effect under illumination. The device prepared by 3 times of spin coating of porphyrin films shows the highest current density, Jsc, of 5.76 μA/cm2 and open circuit potential, Voc, of 648 mV, respectively.
