Buried water pipelines are vulnerable to fail or break due to excessive loading or ground *** evaluation of pipe performance and serviceability relies on the proper understanding of pipe-soil interactions(PSI).Analytical methods are important approaches to studying ***,a systematic and thorough literature review to analyze the existing research trends,technological achievements and future research opportunities is not *** work investigates analytical methods that analyze the stress and deformation of pipes in terms of cross-sectional,transverse and longitudinal PSI ***,scientometric analysis is performed to acquire relevant research works from online databases and analyze the existing data of influential authors,productive research sources and frequent key word occurrence in the fields of ***,a qualitative discussion is performed in the three categories of PSI:(1)cross-sectional,including ovalization and circumferential behaviours;(2)transverse,including seismic fault crossing,weak soil zones,ground settlement and pipe uplift;and(3)***,six research opportunities are discussed,including the role of friction in cross-sectional deformation,combined effects of bending and compression,choice of soil reaction models and calibration of key parameters,effect of pipe flaws,soil spatial variability and behaviours of curved *** study helps beginners familiarize themselves with PSI analytical methods and provides experienced researchers with ideas for future research directions.

hypolipidemic activity of Tamarix articulata Vahl. in diabetic rats

OBJECTIVE： Tamarix articulata Vahl. （Tamaricaceae） is a medicinal plant commonly used in Morocco for the treatment of diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular diseases. The objective of this study was to evaluate the hypolipidemic activity of aqueous extract of T. articulata in normal and streptozotocin （STZ）-induced diabetic rats. Phytochemical analysis as well as determination of polyphenol and flavonoid contents in the aqueous extract of T. articulata was performed. METhODS： The effects of oral administration of aqueous extract of T. articulata （5 mg/kg） on the plasma total cholesterol, triglyceride and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol （hDL-c） concentrations were measured in both normal and STZ-induced diabetic rats. Total phenolic content of the aqueous extract was determined by Folin-Ciocalteu method. In addition, determination of flavonoid content was performed using colorimetric AICI3 method. RESULTS： A single oral administration in diabetic rats induced a significant increase in the hDL-c concentration after 6 h of treatment with T. articulata （5 mg/kg）. The results also demonstrated that the aqueous extract of T. articulata produced a significant decrease of serum total cholesterol after repeated oral administration in diabetic rats （P 〈 0.01）. The total polyphenol and flavonoid contents of T. articulata aqueous extract were equal to 102.50 mg of gallic acid equivalent per gram of extract and 54.83 mg of quercetin equivalent per gram of extract, respectively. CONCLUSION： According to preliminary phytochemical screening of the aerial part of T. articulata, severa classes of chemicals have been found, such as polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, cyanidins （flavones, catechols）, mucilage, sesquiterpenes, terpenoids and carbohydrates. In conclusion, T. articulata exhibits a hypolipidemic effect in diabetic rats and its beneficial role as hypolipidemic agent should be evaluated in clinical studies.

The paper presents the investigation of the effect of alkaline treatment of sodium hydroxide(NaOh) on physical and dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA) viscoelastic properties of kenaf fibre filled natural rubber(NR)/thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU) *** treated kenaf fiber,NR and TPU were weighed and proportioned according to the required compositions and were blended using hot mixed Brabender *** polymer composites were then fabricated using the hot press to form a sample *** sample was cut and prepared and water absorption,density,thickness swelling and DMA tests were *** far as physical properties are concerned,composites with the highest NR amount of shows the best results,which indicates good fiber bonding *** polymer composites with the highest amount of TPU shows the highest damping properties at high temperature.

Evaluating mechanism of banana pseudo-stem retting using seawater:A cost-effective surface pre-treatment approach

Retting has been employed to extract natural fibers from agricultural wastes as a biological and cost-effective approach for *** its global abundance,banana pseudo-stem is a promising agro-waste for lignocellulosic fiber *** this study,fibers were extracted from the pseudo-stems after being pre-treated under four conditions using seawater at room temperature for up to 35 d Bacterial isolation from the fresh seawater sample and screening for ligninolytic ability were *** load as well as laccase and manganese peroxidase enzyme activity profile assay during the retting duration were *** transform infrared(FT-IR)and X-day diffraction(XRD)analyses were also examined for both pre-treated and untreated extracted *** results shows that six out of the eight bacterial isolates had the ability to degrade *** treatments(Raw stem+Raw seawater)and(Autoclaved stem+Raw seawater)recorded the highest viable bacterial load of 9.24×102 and 4.46×102 CFU,respectively,on the 14th day of the retting ***,the highest laccase and manganese peroxidase enzymes activity was recorded for(Raw stem+Raw seawater)and(Autoclaved stem+Raw seawater)treatments in the second to the third *** FT-IR spectra of the pre-treated fibers revealed relative reductions in peaks attributed to polysaccharides and other amorphous substances for all retting *** XRD diffractogram revealed that the crystallinity index(CI)of pre-treated fibers increased in all seawater retting treatment ***,the CI for fibers pre-treated under enzymatic conditions were enhanced even after five *** analysis for selected bacterial isolates showed homology to sequences of Bacillus velezensis,Shewanella sp.L8–5,and Citrobacter amalonaticus and Bacillus subtilis j8 *** these findings,it was suggested that physical,biological,and chemical actions were collectively involved in the seawater retting process of banana ps

Estimation of soil erosion and sediment yield in Wadi El hachem watershed(Algeria)using the RUSLE-SDR approach

high-quality medical microscopic images used for diseases detection are expensive and difficult to ***,low-resolution images are favorable due to their low storage space and ease of sharing,where the images can be enlarged when needed using Super-Resolution(SR)***,it is important to maintain the shape and size of the medical images while enlarging *** of the problems facing SR is that the performance of medical image diagnosis is very poor due to the deterioration of the reconstructed image ***,this paper suggests a multi-SR and classification framework based on Generative Adversarial Network(GAN)to generate high-resolution images with higher quality and finer details to reduce *** proposed framework comprises five GAN models:Enhanced SR Generative Adversarial Networks(ESRGAN),Enhanced deep SR GAN(EDSRGAN),Sub-Pixel-GAN,SRGAN,and Efficient Wider Activation-B GAN(WDSR-b-GAN).To train the proposed models,we have employed images from the famous Breakhis dataset and enlarged them by 4×and 16×upscale factors with the ground truth of the size of 256×256×***,several evaluation metrics like Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio(PSNR),Mean Squared Error(MSE),Structural Similarity Index(SSIM),Multiscale Structural Similarity Index(MS-SSIM),and histogram are applied to make comprehensive and objective comparisons to determine the best methods in terms of efficiency,training time,and storage *** obtained results reveal the superiority of the proposed models over traditional and benchmark models in terms of color and texture restoration and detection by achieving an accuracy of 99.7433%.

Pam3CSK4 enhances adaptive immune responses to recombinant Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin expressing Plasmodium falciparum C-terminus merozoite surface protein-1

Objective: To determine the effects of toll-like receptor 2(TLR-2) agonist, Pam3 CSK4, on cellular and humoral immune response against recombinant Mycobacterium bovis bacille Calmette-Guérin(rBCG) expressing the C-terminus of merozoite surface protein-1 of Plasmodium ***: Six groups of mice(n=6 per group) received intraperitoneal phosphate buffered saline T80(PBS-T80), BCG or rBCG in the presence or absence of Pam3 CSK4. Enzymelinked immunosorbent assay was carried out to measure serum total IgG, IgG1, IgG2 a, and Ig G2 b production. Spleens were also harvested and splenocytes were co-cultured with rBCG antigen for in vitro determination of IL-4 and IFN-γ via enzyme-linked immunosorbent ***: The production of total IgG and the isotype IgG1, IgG2 a and IgG2 b was significantly higher in rBCG-immunised mice than in the BCG and PBS-T80-immunised mice, and Pam3 CSK4 further enhanced their productions. A similar pattern was also observed in IFN-γ production. Moreover, there was no significant difference in IL-4 production in all groups either in the presence or absence of Pam3 ***: We present evidence of the adjuvant effects of TLR-2 agonist in enhancing the production of total IgG, IgG1, IgG2 a, IgG2 b, as well as IFN-γ in response to rBCG. however, the presence or absence of Pam3 CSK4 had no effect on IL-4 production.
