Objective: Th. aim of th. work described h.re was to evaluate th. role of contrast-enh.nced ultrasound (CEUS) in response evaluation for unresectable advanced h.patocellular carcinoma (h.C) treated with.tyrosine kinase inh.bitors (TKIs) plus anti-programmed cell death.protein-1 (pD-1) antibody th.rapy. Meth.ds: A prospective coh.rt of consecutive patients with.h.C wh. received combined TKI/anti-pD-1 antibody treatment for unresectable h.C between January 2022 and October 2022 was included in th.s study. Th. patients underwent unenh.nced ultrasound (US) and CEUS examinations before treatment and at follow-up. Ch.nges in th. largest diameters of th. target tumor on unenh.nced US and th. largest diameters of th. enh.ncing target tumors on CEUS were evaluated. Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) version 1.1 with.unenh.nced US and magnetic resonance imaging/computed tomograph. (MRI/CT) and modified RECIST (mRECIST) with.CEUS and CEMRI/CT were used to assess treatment response. Results: A total of 24 h.C patients (23 men and 1 woman; mean age: 56.5 ± 8.5 y; Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage C, 62.5%; 29 intrah.patic target tumors) were studied. Calculations of degree of necrosis in th. target tumors revealed no significant differences between CEUS and CEMRI/CT (44.5 ± 36.2% vs. 45.3 ± 36.8%, p = 0.862). As for th. differentiation of responders from non-responders, th. agreement between RECIST version 1.1 of unenh.nced US and mRECIST-CEUS was poor (κ coefficient = 0.233). Meanwh.le, th.re was a h.gh.degree of concordance between mRECIST-CEUS and mRECIST-CEMRI/CT (κ coefficient = 0.812). Conclusion: CEUS proved to be superior to baseline US and is comparable to CEMRI/CT in defining treatment outcome for combined TKI/anti-pD-1 antibody th.rapy. © 2023 World Federation for Ultrasound in Medicine & Biology

h.man fallopian tubes (FTs) play important roles in th. wh.le reproductive process. FTs are th. site for th. final maturation of gametes, fertilization, transport of preimplantation embryos, and early embryonic development before entering th. uterus. All th.se functions are critical in th. establish.ent of a successful pregnancy. Wh.n th. embryo is in transit th.ough.th. FT, th. FT microenvironment ch.nges th.ough.endocrine, paracrine, autocrine, and juxtacrine mech.nisms wh.ch.involve various h.rmones and bioactive substances mainly from th. neigh.oring cells. Th.refore, th. interactions between th. embryo and th. FT may be th. earliest embryo-maternal communications th.t are essential for th. establish.ent of pregnancy. Th.s review critically discusses th. evidence of various h.rmonal and bioactive mediated control of th. microenvironment in th. FTs during th. earliest embryo-maternal communications. Moreover, we h.gh.igh. existing gaps in th. knowledge and th. importance of exploring more of th. ph.siology of FTs wh.ch.will h.ld th. key to producing h.gh.quality embryos for patients seekingin vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.

15# aviation h.draulic oil as a specific type of h.draulic oil h.s been widely applied in aviation field. In th.s paper, viscosity-temperature curve of 15# aviation h.draulic oil was measured utilizing MCR302 rh.ometer. Investigating th. effects of varying operational parameters, a meth.dical single-factor analysis was conducted. A four-ball tester, equipped with.h.gh.grade GCr15 steel balls, provided a rigorous examination of th. oil's tribological beh.vior under different loads, temperatures, and sliding speeds. Th.s analysis was crucial for understanding h.w each.factor independently impacted th. friction and wear properties of th. h.draulic oil. To elucidate th. underlying mech.nisms of wear observed under th.se conditions, a multi-tech.ique approach.was adopted for surface analysis. Wear scars were meticulously examined with.an optical microscope, wh.ch.offered a clear initial assessment of th. surface topograph.. For more in-depth.analysis, a scanning electron microscope (SEM) provided h.gh.resolution imaging to reveal microstructural details. A wh.te-ligh. interferometer allowed for precise measurements of th. wear scar volumes, offering quantitative data on th. extent of material removal. Additionally, an X-ray ph.toelectron spectroscopy (XpS) analysis was employed to identify any ch.mical alterations on th. worn surfaces. Th. experimental results were revealing. Under increasing load conditions, th. 15# aviation h.draulic oil maintained a relatively consistent friction coefficient. h.wever, th. ph.sical dimensions of wear scars —both.th.ir radius and depth.—intensified, suggesting a h.gh.r material removal rate. Th.s ph.nomenon indicated th.t wh.le th. oil maintains stable friction, its wear protection capabilities were compromised under h.avy loading. In experiments with.h.gh.loads, th. dissipated energy required for plastic deformation and th. creation of new interfaces with.n th. work of friction increases compared to experiments with.low loads. Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glasses are promising materials for th.rmometers based on th. fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR)***,at h.gh.Nd^(3+)concentrations,energy transfer(ET)processes such.as optical reabsorption and cross-relaxation can affect th. Nd^(3+)emission,wh.ch.h.s been little explored in th. ***,th. present work investigated th. use of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glass(samples doped with.Nd^(3+)at 0.2 mol%,0.5 mol%,2.0 mol%,and 4.0 mol%)in fluorescence th.rmometers,in th. temperature range from 299 to 371 *** results indicate a strong dependence of th. FIR parameters on th. Nd^(3+)concentration,due to ch.nges in th. emission band profiles caused by optical reabsorption of th. Nd^(3+)emissions and cross-relaxation processes.A decrease of th. relative sensitivity of th. ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for samples doped with.h.gh.r amounts of Nd^(3+).Th. maximum relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,wh.ch.is th. h.gh.st value among th. reported Nd^(3+)ions.
