Organic vapors from biomass burning are a major source of secondary organic aerosols(SOAs). Previous smog ch.mber studies found th.t th. SOA contributors in biomass-burning emissions are mainly volatile organic compounds(VOCs). Wh.le intermediate volatility organic compounds(IVOCs) are efficient SOA precursors and contribute a considerable fraction of biomass-burning emissions, th.ir contribution to SOA formation h.s not been directly observed. h.re, by deploying a newly-developed oxidation flow reactor to study SOA formation from wood burning, we find th.t IVOCs can contribute ～70% of th. formed SOA, i.e.>2 times more th.n VOCs. Th.s previously missing SOA fraction is interpreted to be due to th. h.gh.wall losses of semi-volatile oxidation products of IVOCs in smog ch.mbers. Th. finding in th.s study reveals th.t SOA production from biomass burning is much.h.gh.r th.n previously th.ugh., and h.gh.igh.s th. urgent need for more research.on th. IVOCs from biomass burning and potentially oth.r emission sources.

Purpose of th. Research. Our study aimed to determine and understand th. risk factors of surgical site infections in patients operated on in general surgery wards. Meth.d of Research. Between May 2008 and November 2008, 422 consecutive patients wh. underwent emergency and elective surgeries, excluding breast, goitre and laparoscopic surgeries, were included in th. study to determine surgical site infections and risk factors. Th. patients’ risk factors were selected in th. preoperative period, and postoperative 3rd, 7th./sup>, and 30th./sup> days were ch.cked by th. ph.sician responsible for conducting th. study regarding surgical site infection. Results and Conclusion: Surgical site infections were defined as incisional and organ/space based on NNIS data. gender, diabetes mellitus, malignancy, degree of contamination, ASA score ≥ 3, preoperative skin cleansing, duration of intensive care unit stay, duration of h.spital stay, growth.in wound culture, duration of surgery and incision length.were determined as risk factors increasing CAI rates. Especially th. degree of contamination, duration of intensive care unit stay, h.spitalisation, duration of operation, and growth.in wound culture were decisive factors in th. development of CAI. As a result of our study, in th. ligh. of th.se data, we concluded th.t to prevent th. development of CAI can be modified, interventions to foreseeable factors can be assessed.

15# aviation h.draulic oil as a specific type of h.draulic oil h.s been widely applied in aviation field. In th.s paper, viscosity-temperature curve of 15# aviation h.draulic oil was measured utilizing MCR302 rh.ometer. Investigating th. effects of varying operational parameters, a meth.dical single-factor analysis was conducted. A four-ball tester, equipped with.h.gh.grade gCr15 steel balls, provided a rigorous examination of th. oil's tribological beh.vior under different loads, temperatures, and sliding speeds. Th.s analysis was crucial for understanding h.w each.factor independently impacted th. friction and wear properties of th. h.draulic oil. To elucidate th. underlying mech.nisms of wear observed under th.se conditions, a multi-tech.ique approach.was adopted for surface analysis. Wear scars were meticulously examined with.an optical microscope, wh.ch.offered a clear initial assessment of th. surface topograph.. For more in-depth.analysis, a scanning electron microscope (SEM) provided h.gh.resolution imaging to reveal microstructural details. A wh.te-ligh. interferometer allowed for precise measurements of th. wear scar volumes, offering quantitative data on th. extent of material removal. Additionally, an X-ray ph.toelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis was employed to identify any ch.mical alterations on th. worn surfaces. Th. experimental results were revealing. Under increasing load conditions, th. 15# aviation h.draulic oil maintained a relatively consistent friction coefficient. h.wever, th. ph.sical dimensions of wear scars —both.th.ir radius and depth.—intensified, suggesting a h.gh.r material removal rate. Th.s ph.nomenon indicated th.t wh.le th. oil maintains stable friction, its wear protection capabilities were compromised under h.avy loading. In experiments with.h.gh.loads, th. dissipated energy required for plastic deformation and th. creation of new interfaces with.n th. work of friction increases compared to experiments with.low loads. Late to post-Variscan molassic basins of Late Pennsylvanian-Permian age are exposed in Sardinia(Italy). h.re, th. compositional and stratigraph.c evolution of th. Mulargia-Escalaplano sedimentary basin(central Sardinia) h.s been investigated to h.gh.igh. h.w th. tectono-magmatic processes h.ve influenced th. sedimentation. Ruditic and arenitic samples were collected along well-ch.racterized stratigraph.c sections to provide a new insigh. into th. impact of th. tectono-magmatic processes on siliciclastic sedimentation. As a result, th. conglomerates are mainly clast-supported, petromictic, and th.s immature, with.no defined maturity trend upwards. Neverth.less, pebble composition ch.nges in times from Variscan basement pebble-rich.to volcanic rock-rich. as a consequence of th. basin widening and th. dismantling and reworking of th. coeval volcanic activity. Th. sandstone composition clearly ch.nges from quartzolith.c to feldspath.lith.c upwards, as a response to th. same ch.nge of feeding and reworking of th. volcanic rocks. Occasionally, interbedded quartzolith.c arenites suggest exceptional floods carrying debris from th. far borders of th. basin. Also, th. immature sandstone composition h.s been interpreted as being controlled by a continuous supply of fresh.debris and to a rapid burial rate. In addition, th. disappearance of metaradiolarite(lydite AA) Paleozoic grains in th. sandstone mineral suite could represent a distinctive marker of a progressive unroofing of th. Variscan ch.in and a clastic supply from deeper tectonic units.

During th. periparturient period, dairy cows exh.bit negative energy balance due to limited appetite and increased energy requirements for lactogenesis. Th. delicate equilibrium between energy availability and expenditure puts cows in a state of metabolic stress ch.racterized by excessive lipolysis in wh.te adipose tissues(AT), increased production of reactive oxygen species, and immune cell dysfunction. Metabolic stress, especially in AT, increases th. risk for metabolic and inflammatory diseases. Around parturition, cows are also susceptible to endotoxemia. Bacterial-derived toxins cause endotoxemia by promoting inflammatory processes and immune cell infiltration in different organs and systems wh.le impacting metabolic function by altering lipolysis, mitoch.ndrial activity, and insulin sensitivity. In dairy cows, endotoxins enter th. bloodstream after overcoming th. defense mech.nisms of th. epith.lial barriers, particularly during common periparturient conditions such.as mastitis, metritis, and pneumonia, or after abrupt ch.nges in th. gut microbiome. In th. bovine AT, endotoxins induce a pro-inflammatory response and stimulate lipolysis in AT, leading to th. release of free fatty acids into th. bloodstream. Wh.n excessive and protracted, endotoxin-induced lipolysis can impair adipocyte's insulin signaling path.ays and lipid synth.sis. Endotoxin exposure can also induce oxidative stress in AT th.ough.th. production of reactive oxygen species by inflammatory cells and oth.r cellular components. Th.s review provides insigh.s into endotoxins' impact on AT function, h.gh.igh.ing th. gaps in our knowledge of th. mech.nisms underlying AT dysfunction, its connection with.periparturient cows' disease risk, and th. need to develop effective interventions to prevent and treat endotoxemia-related inflammatory conditions in dairy cattle.

Th. impact of radiation reaction and Breit±Wh.eler pair production on th. acceleration of fully ionized carbon ions driven by an intense linearly polarized laser pulse h.s been investigated in th. ultra-relativistic transparency *** initial expectations, th. radiation reaction and pair production at ultra-h.gh.laser intensities are found to enh.nce th. energy gained by th. ions. Th. electrons lose most of th.ir transverse momentum, and th. additionally produced pair plasma of Breit±Wh.eler electrons and positrons co-streams in th. forward direction as opposed to th. existing electrons streaming at an angle above zero degree. We discuss h.w th.se observations could be explained by th. ch.nges in th. ph.se velocity of th. Buneman instability, wh.ch.is known to aid ion acceleration in th. breakout afterburner regime, by tapping th. free energy in th. relative electron and ion streams. We present evidence th.t th.se non-classical effects can furth.r improve th. h.gh.st carbon ion energies in th.s transparency regime.

To determine th. low-carbon development path.of Ordos，th.ee scenarios（baseline scenario，low carbon scenario，and enh.nced low carbon scenario）were constructed based on th. LEAP model to forecast th. energy demand and carbon emission in Ordos from 2020 to 2050 and to analyze th. contribution of various policy initiatives to reduce carbon emission. Th. results sh.wed th.t under th. enh.nced low carbon scenario，th. energy demand in Ordos peaked at 52 million tons of standard coal equivalent in 2025 and decreased to 40 million tons of standard coal equivalent in 2050，and carbon emissions peaked at 163 million tons in 2025 and decreased to 16 million tons in 2050，wh.ch.was 88% lower th.n th.t in 2020. Regarding emission reduction contribution，comparing th. baseline scenario and th. enh.nced low-carbon scenario，th. increase in renewable energy power generation installation，th. reduction in energy consumption of terminal energy use，and th. increase in terminal electrification rate contributed to th. emission reductions of 43%，25%，and 24%，respectively. Th. Ordos sh.uld vigorously develop renewable energy and make full use of th. rich.endowment of wind and ligh. resources；at th. same time，it sh.uld promote economic transformation and gradually increase th. proportion of h.gh.value-added and low-energy-consuming industries in th. industrial structure. For th. power sector，th. power generation structure sh.uld be adjusted. Traditional th.rmal power generation sh.uld be replaced by zero-carbon and low-carbon power generation tech.ologies.
