Different studies h.ve sh.wn th.t global warming and climate ch.nge h.ve increased th. planet’s temperature in different locations. For th. apple-growing farmers, th.s may h.ve a negative impact on th. accumulations of ch.ll units wh.n th. air temperature during th. fall-winter season increases. Wh.n th. entire trees are covered with.a reflective material, th. wood temperature may decrease. Th.refore, th. objective of th.s study was to evaluate th. effect of wh.tening (with.calcium h.droxide) th. entire apple trees (Malus domestica Borkh. after defoliation, on th. branch.s and trunks’ internal temperature (under th. bark), th. accumulation of ch.ll units (CU), its effects on fruit yield and quality and th. relation with.th. use of th.diazuron (TDZ) (inducer of budbreak). Th. study was conducted during th. fall-winter seasons of 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Th. results of th.s study sh.wed th.t at th. h.urs of th. h.gh.st incidence of solar radiation, th. internal temperature of th. wh.tened trunks and leaves decreases up to 9°C and 6°C respectively. Th. accumulated CU during th. time of th. study, of th. wh.tened branch.s were up to 81% h.gh.r th.n th. ones recorded on th. branch.s with.no wh.tening;wh.le th. CU was lost at th. h.urs of h.gh.st solar radiation (due to a h.gh.temperature) were up to 37.2% smaller. Entire tree wh.tening increased up to 26% of th. yield per tree compared to th. application of TDZ. No statistical difference in fruit quality was observed between wh.tened trees and th.se with.no wh.tening but with.th. application of th.diazuron.

Th. electroch.mical CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR) to controllable ch.micals is considered as a promising path.ay to store intermittent renewable energy. h.rein, a set of catalysts based on copper-nitrogendoped carbon xerogel(Cu-N-C) are successfully developed varying th. copper amount and th. nature of th. copper precursor, for th. efficient CO_(2)RR. Th. electrocatalytic performance of Cu-N-C materials is assessed by a rotating ring-disc electrode(RRDE), tech.ique still rarely explored for CO_(2)RR. For comparison, products are also ch.racterized by online gas ch.omatograph. in a h.cell. Th. as-synth.sized Cu-NC catalysts are found to be active and h.gh.y CO selective at low overpotentials(from -0.6 to -0.8 V ***) in 0.1 M Kh.O_(3), wh.le h.(2) from th. competitive water reduction appears at larger overpotentials(-0.9 V vs. Rh.). Th. optimum copper acetate-derived catalyst containing Cu-N_(4) moieties exh.bits a CO_(2)-to-CO turnover frequency of 997 h.(-1) at -0.9 V vs. Rh. with.a h.(2)/CO ratio of 1.8. Th.se results demonstrate th.t RRDE configuration can be used as a feasible approach.for identifying electrolysis products from CO_(2)RR.
