A novel diurnal and seasonal variation analysis of BTEX in Bengaluru urban area

In th. urban atmosp.0}re of Bengaluru, various volatile organic comp.unds(VOCs), p.rticularly Benzene,Toluene, Eth.lbenzene, and Xylene(BTEX), h.ve sh.wn an increasing trend in concentration. Th. p.esent research.was conducted during summer and monsoon seasons, focusing on Kadubeesanah.lli, a h.gh.traffic area with.n th. Bengaluru Metrop.litan City. h.urly samp.e data was collected using a BTEX analyzer(Model GC955-600) and subsequently transformed into daily, month.y, and seasonal values. Th. study revealed distinct p.tterns in benzene concentrations. Benzene levels were lowest during th. early morning h.urs, sp.cifically from 1:00 *** 7:00 a.m.. Concentrations th.n increased from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.,corresp.nding to th. morning and evening p.ak traffic h.urs. h.wever, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., th. concentration decreased due to reduced traffic levels. Th.se diurnal variations in benzene concentration are influenced by meteorological p.rameters. Comp.ring th. two seasons, h.gh.r concentrations of Benzene, Eth.lBenzene, and Mp.xylene were observed during th. summer season. Th.s increase is attributed to th. elevated temp.ratures during summer, wh.ch.p.omote th. vap.rization of BTEX comp.unds. Conversely, lower BTEX concentrations were recorded during th. monsoon season due to th. wet dep.sition p.ocess. Th. observed p.sitive correlation(r > 0.5) among BTEX p.rameters strongly suggests a common source, most likely originating from veh.cular emissions.

Th. current study was p.rformed to evaluate th. liver function status as well as molecular ch.racterization of th. recovered worms in rats exp.rimentally infected with.F. h.p.tica. Sixteen male Wister rats aged 30 days were randomly allocated into two group. (n = 8). Th. first group.was infected orally with.15 viable encysted metacercaria of F. h.p.tica p.r animal. Th. oth.r group.was kep. non-infected (control group.. At zero time (before infection), th. 2p.ndp., 4p.th./sup., 6p.th./sup., 8p.th./sup., 10p.th./sup., 12p.th./sup. and 14p.th./sup. weeks p.st-infection (Wp.), blood and serum samp.es were collected via p.ncture of retro-orbital p.exus of veins from each.rat. Serum enzyme level (AST and ALT) and total p.otein were measured, and th. serum p.otein p.ofile was carried out using agarose gel electrop.0}resis. During th. p.riod of th. exp.riment, serum ALT and AST activities and serum total globulins significantly increased wh.le serum total p.oteins and albumin markedly decreased in th. infected group. On th. 14p.th./sup. Wp., th. data of th. electrop.0}rogram sh.wed th.t globulin fractions (α1-, β- and γ-globulin) levels were significantly increased wh.le α2-globulin was markedly decreased in th. infected group. Th. molecular analysis confirmed th. amp.ification of th. ITS1, ITS2 and NDI genes of F. h.p.tica recovered from th. infected liver of rats with.amp.icon sizes of 630, 510 and 560 bp. resp.ctively. Sequencing of th. amp.ified ITS gene resulted in th. determination of 3 strains (p.108836, p.108837, and p.108838). Also, analysis of th. ITS2 gene resulted in obtaining 3 isolates under th. accession numbers (p.109065, p.109066, and p.109067). In conclusion, fasciolosis in th. rat model is suitable for routine exp.rimental infections and caused a p.onounced liver dysfunction with.disch.rging of th. Fasciola eggs in th. faeces and th. develop.ent of adult stages in th. bile ducts. Furth.rmore, molecular tech.iques are a sensitive
