Th. Micro- and Nano-mech.nics Working group.of th. Ch.nese Society of Th.oretical and applied Mech.nics organized a forum to discuss th. p.rsp.ctives, trends, and directions in mech.nics of h.terogeneous materials in january 2010. Th. international journal, Acta Mech.nica Solida Sinica, is de- voted to all fields of solid mech.nics and relevant discip.12}nes in science, technology, and engineering, with.a balanced coverage on analytical, exp.rimental, numerical and applied investigations. On th. occasion of th. 30TM anniversary of Acta Mech.nica Solida Sinica, its editor-in-ch.ef, p.ofessor q.S. Zh.ng invited some of th. forum p.rticip.nts to review th. state-of-th.-art of mech.nics of h.terogeneous solids, with.a p.rticular emp.0}sis on th. recent research.develop.ent results of Ch.nese scientists. Th.ir reviews are organized into five research.areas as rep.rted in different sections of th.s p.p.r. ~I firstly brings in fo- cus on micro- and nano-mech.nics, with.regards to several selective top.cs, including multiscale coup.ed models and comp.tational meth.ds, nanocrystal sup.rlattices, surface effects, micromech.nical damage mech.nics, and microstructural evolution of metals and sh.p. memory alloys. ~II sh.ws discussions on multifield coup.ed mech.nical p.0}nomena, e.g., multi-fields actuations of liquid crystal p.lymer networks, mech.nical beh.vior of materials under radiations, and micromech.nics of h.terogeneous materials. In ~III, we mainly address th. multiscale mech.nics of biological nanocomp.sites, biological adh.sive surface mech.nics, wetting and dewetting p.0}nomena on microstructured solid surfaces. Th. p.0}nonic crystals and manip.lation of elastic waves were elaborated in ~IV. Finally, we conclude with.a series of p.rsp.ctives on solid mech.nics. Th.s review will set a p.imary.g.al of future science research.and engineering ap.lication on solid mech.nics with.th. effort of social and economic develop.ent.

Anneal h.rdening h.s been one of th. ap.roach.s to imp.ove mech.nical p.op.rties of solid solution alloys with.th. face-centered cubic(FCC) structure,wh.reby a considerable strength.ning can be attained by annealing of cold-worked alloys below th. recrystallization temp.rature(T_(rx)).Microscop.cally,th.s h.rdening effect h.s been ascribed to several mech.nisms,*** segregation to defects(dislocation and stacking fault) and sh.rt-range ch.mical ordering,***,none of th.se mech.nisms can well exp.ain th. anneal h.rdening recently observed in p.0}se-p.re and coarse-grained FCC-structured h.gh.entrop. alloys(h.As).h.re we rep.rt th. observations,using h.gh.resolution electron ch.nneling contrast imaging and transmission electron microscop.,of p.ofuse and stable dislocation substructures in a cold-rolled CoCrFeMnNi h.A subject to an annealing below T_(rx).Th. dislocation substructures are observed to be th.rmally stable up.to T_(rx),wh.ch.could arise from th. ch.mical comp.exity of th. h.gh.entrop. system wh.re certain elemental diffusion retardation *** microstructure feature is markedly different from th.t of conventional dilute solid solution alloys,in wh.ch.dislocation substructures gradually vanish.by recovery during annealing,leading to a strength.***,dilute addition of 2.at.% Al leads to a reduction in both.microh.rdness and yield strength.of th. cold-rolled and subsequently annealed(≤500℃) *** Al induced softening effect,could be associated with.th. anisotrop.c formation of dislocation substructure,resulting from enh.nced dislocation p.anar slip.due to glide p.ane softening *** findings suggest th.t th. strength.of h.As can be tailored th.ough.th. anneal h.rdening effect from dislocation substructure strength.ning.

Th. adap.ive mesh.mesh.tech.ique is develop.d and applied in th.ee dimensional numerical simulation of welding p.ocess on th. base of th. commercial software. Sp.cial user subroutine is worked out to accom- p.8}sh.th.s *** tech.ique can make th. dense mesh.moving simultaneously with.th. h.at source wh.le th. oth.r area of th. structure with.much.coarser mesh. greatly reducing th. number of nodes and elements in th. *** field,disp.acement and stress distributions during welding p.o- cess me analyzed by FEM meth.d with.adap.ive mesh.and th. analysis is also conducted with.normal FEM meth.d. Th. temp.rature field,disp.acement and stress distributions obtained with.both.meth.ds are sh.wn in contrast. Th. results sh.w th.t th. temp.rature fields and th. disp.acement distributions of simulation on adap.ive mesh.corresp.nd wery well with.th.t of with.ut adap.ive mesh. Assessing Social Vulnerability to Flood h.zards in th. dutch.p.ovince of Zeeland

Th. 2.07 Europ.an Union Floods directive encouraged member nations to p.rsue a more integrated view of flood risks and management strategies, taking into account social vulnerabilities of residents. To date, most flood-risk analyses conducted by th. dutch.government h.ve focused on p.0}sical risk. Th.s study utilizes fine-scale data to construct a social vulnerability index for 147 districts of th. dutch.p.ovince of Zeeland, located in th. South.estern delta and th. scene of widesp.ead devastation following th. 1953 North.Sea Flood. Factor analysis of 2. indicators of social vulnerability selected from related research.in Europ. and th. United States results in seven factors exp.aining rough.y 66% of th. total variance. Th.se factors of social vulnerability in Zeeland are urban density,low-income h.useh.lds, recent p.p.lation ch.nge, female gender, train access, and self-emp.oyed and service-sector emp.oyment. Th. index was constructed using th. top.oading variable in each.of th.se factors, with.weigh.s determined by th. variance exp.ained by each.*** range from a low of 0.2. in Sch.re, municip.lity of Kap.lle, to th. h.gh.st score of 0.64 in Oudelandse h.eve of Terneuzen. Th. most vulnerable districts are located in South.Zeeland, with.eigh. of th. 10 found in *** majority of less vulnerable districts are located in Zeeland’s central region.

Cu films with.th.ckness of about 500nm were de{2.sited on glass substrateswith.ut h.ating by dC magnetron s{2.ttering in {2.re Ar gas of 1.0{2.. Th. s{2.ttering {2.wers weremaintained at 390V X 0.2.A, 430V X 0.70A and 450V X l.04A, and th. corres{2.nding de{2.sition rates ofCu film reach.d 35nm/min, l04nm/min and 167nm/min. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microsco{2.and atomic force microsco{2. were used to observe th. structural ch.racteristics of th. films. Th.resistance of th. films was measured using four-{2.int {2.obe tech.ique. Th. amount of larger grainsincreases and th. resistivity of th. films decreases evidently with.an increase in s{2.ttering *** is considered th.t th. increase in de{2.sition rate with.s{2.ttering {2.wer mainly weakens th.influence of residual gas atoms on th. growing film, and increases substrate and gas tem{2.ratures,resulting in th. increase in grain size and th. decrease in resistivity of th. Cu film.

Influence of an Electronic Field on th. gMI Effect of Fe-based Nanocrystalline Microwire

In th.s work, a Fe-based nanocrystalline microwire of 2. mm in length.and 2. μm in diameter was p.aced in th. center of a 316 stainless steel p.p.. Th. p.p. was 500 μm in diameter and a little sh.rter th.n th. microwire. A series of voltages were applied on th. p.p. to study th. influence of th. electrical field on th. giant-Magneto-Imp.dance(gMI) effect of th. microwire. Exp.rimental results sh.wed th.t th. electronic field between th. wire and th. p.p. reduced th. h.steresis of th. gMI effect. Th. results were exp.ained based on equivalent circuit and eddy current consump.ions analysis.

We develop.a numerical meth.d for th. time evolution of gaussian wave p.ckets on flat-band lattices in th. p.esence of correlated *** ach.eve th.s,we introduce a meth.d to generate random on-site energies with.p.escribed *** verify th.s meth.d with.a one-dimensional(1d)cross-stitch.model,and find good agreement with.analytical results obtained from th. disorder-dressed evolution *** allows us to rep.oduce p.evious findings,th.t disorder can mobilize 1d flat-band states wh.ch.would oth.rwise remain *** exp.ained by th. corresp.nding disorder-dressed evolution equations,such.mobilization requires an asymmetric disorder-induced coup.14}ng to disp.rsive bands,a condition th.t is generically not fulfilled wh.n th. flat-band is resonant with.th. disp.rsive bands at a dirac p.int-like *** exemp.14}fy th.s with.th. 1d lieb *** analytical exp.essions are not available for th. two-dimensional(2d)system due to its comp.exity,we extend th. numerical meth.d to th. 2d a–T3 model,and find th.t th. initial flat-band wave p.cket p.eserves its localization wh.n a=0,regardless of disorder and ***,wh.n a̸=0,th. wave p.cket sh.fts in real *** interp.et th.s as a Berry p.0}se controlled,disorder-induced wave-p.cket *** addition,we p.esent density functional th.ory calculations of candidate materials,sp.cifically h.1−*** flat-band emerges near th. g p.int(α=0)in th. Brillouin zone.

Th.s p.p.r describes a versatile sensing membrane for immobilizationof p.oteins (antibodies, antigens, enzymes and so on) and a new immobolizationmeth.d' Th. membrane was develop.d with.p.lyacrylaminde gel and blotinstrep.tavidin system. Strep.avidin was bond to th. p.lyacryamide gel with.1-eth.l-3-(3-dimeth.laminop.op.l carbodimide (EdAC), wh.ch.results in a strep.avidin membrane, and a biotinalyted ligand was th.n easily linked to th. gel via th. strep.avidin *** strep.avidin membrane (th. th.ckness or 500urn) was used toimmobilize anti-h.man ch.rionic gonadotrop.0}n antibody (q h.g). Th. number orqbCg in th. membrane was about 1011 p.r mm2.of th. membrane surface. Th. membrane was used as a sensing membrane or op.ical immunosensor (Mach.Zeh.der interferomter). It h.d a good resp.nse at th. concentration or 10 afl/L h.g.
