Efficacy of hypnotherapy in the Management of Fibromyalgia:A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study

Training Low-Achiever EFL Learners with Metacognitive Strategy Training for Effective Vocabulary Retention

Supportive care needs of women with gynecologic cancer and factors affecting in Turkiye: a cross sectional study

Background:Identifying and managing patients'supportive care needs is an essential component of health *** cancer patients'needs are multidimensional and it is important to identify these *** study was conducted to assess supportive care needs of women with gynecologic cancer and affecting ***:This cross-sectional study consisted of 98 women with gynecologic *** data of the study was gathered using“Personal Information Form”and the“James Supportive Care Screening”.Results:The most frequently reported unmet needs of gynecologic cancer patients were emotional issues,including uncertainty(87.6%),fears(85.7%),feeling down(86.7%),worry(87.6%),loss of interest in usual activities(73.3%)and physical symptoms including fatigue/lack of energy(81.9%),weakness(81.9%),lack of appetite(76.2%).The most frequently reported social/practical problems was transportation problems(50%).The mean scores for JSCS was 29.72±*** were a statistically significant difference was found only between family type,stage of the disease,and time of diagnosis,and the total mean scores of the JSCS(phas been determined that patients with gynecological cancer mostly experience emotional and physical *** professionals working in the oncology unit should be aware of unmet *** programs and services to address the identified unmet needs should be provided.

Effect of acetyl L-carnitine on human retinal pigment epithelium-19 cells in hypoxic conditions

AIM:To investigate the effect of acetyl-L-carnitine(ALCAR)on cell viability,morphological integrity,and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)expression in human retinal pigment epithelium(ARPE-19)cells using a hypoxic ***:In the first set of experiments,the optimal CoCl_(2) dose was determined by exposing ARPE-19 cell cultures to different *** evaluate the effect of ALCAR on cell viability,five groups of ARPE-19 cell culture were established that included a control group,a sham group(200μM CoCl_(2)),and groups that received 1,10 and 100 mM doses of ALCAR combined with 200μM CoCl_(2),*** cell viability was measured by MTT *** morphological characteristics of cells were observed by an inverted phase contrast *** levels of VEGF and hIF-1α secretion by ARPE-19 cells were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)***:ARPE-19 cells were exposed to different doses of CoCl_(2) in order to create a hypoxia ***,when exposed to a concentration of 200μM CoCl_(2),a notable decrease in viability to 83% was *** was found to increase the cell viability at 1 mM and 10 mM concentrations,while the highest concentration(100 mM)did not have an added *** cell viability was found to be significantly higher in the groups treated with a concentration of 1 mM and 10 mM ALCAR compared to the Sham group(P=0.041,P=0.019,respectively).The cell viability and morphology remained unaffected by the greatest dose of ALCAR(100 mM).The administration of 10 mM ALCAR demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in the levels of VEGF and hIF-1α compared with the Sham group(P=0.013,P=0.033,respectively).CONCLUSION:The findings from the current study indicate that ALCAR could represent a viable therapeutic option with the potential to open up novel treatment pathways for retinal diseases,particular relevance for age-related macular degeneration(AMD).however,to fully elucidate ALCAR’s application

Spectral-based Probabilistic Seismic hazard Analysis for Fethiye,Mugla

Clinical role and importance of fluorescence in situ hybridization method in diagnosis of h pylori infection and determination of clarithromycin resistance in h pylori eradication therapy

h pylori is etiologically associated with gastritis, gas-tric and duodenal ulcers, gastric adenocarcinoma and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Eradicating h pylori may convert rapidly the outcome of related diseases with the use of more accurate diagnostic molecular tests. Indeed some of the tests cannot give the evidence of current infection; h pylori can be detected by noninvasive and invasive methods, the latter requiring an endoscopy. Eradication failure is a big problem in h pylori infection. Recently, clarithromycin resistance in h pylori strains is increasing and eradicati-on therapy of this bacterium is becoming more difficult. Molecular methods have frequently been applied besides phenotypic methods for susceptibility testing to detect clarithromycin resistance due to mutations in the 2143 and 2144 positions of 23S rRNA gene. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISh) method on paraffin embedded tissue is a rapid, accurate and cost-effective method for the detection of h pylori infection and to determine clarithromycin resistance within three hours according to the gold standards as a non-culture method. This method can also be applied to fresh biopsy samples and the isolated colonies from a culture of h pylori, detecting both the culturable bacillary forms and the coccoid forms of h pylori, besides the paraffin embedded tissue secti-ons. This technique is helpful for determining the bac-terial density and the results of treatment where clarith-romycin has been widely used in populations to increase the efficacy of the treatment and to clarify the treatment failure in vitro.

Toxicity, inheritance and biochemistry of clofentezine resistance in Tetranychus urticae

This study evaluates the toxicological and biochemical response of two-spotted spider mites to clofentezine selection pressure. The mortality rate of Tetranychus urticae in adult females depends on increased clofentezine concentration and clofentezine was found to be effective against females. The resistance rate of the CUM strain selected 12 times once per generation with clofentezine was increased from 1.28- to 105.27-fold. The interaction of some synergists with clofentezine was analyzed in the clofentezine-resistant CLOF 12 strain. Synergists had no effect on clofentezine toxicity. The clofentezine-resistant CLOF 12 strain showed resistance against chlorpyrifos, abamectin, propargite, fenpyroximate and amitraz. The modes of inheritance of resistance to clofentezine were found to be incompletely dominant and not sex-linked. Esterase enzyme activity was detected both by gel electrophoresis and microplate reader methods, while glutathione S-transferase （GST） and monooxygenase （P450） activity were detected only by the microplate reader method. During the selection period the esterase, the GST and the P450 enzymes activities were raised from 7.69, 7.09 and 0.003 3 to 18.40, 13.11 and 0.003 7 milli-optical density/rain/rag proteins, respectively. An increase was observed in the band intensity of esterases and esterase enzymes may play a role in clofentezine resistance in T. urticae.

Structural and Optical Properties of Zinc Nitride Films Prepared by Pulsed Filtered Cathodic Vacuum Arc Deposition

Polycrystalline zinc nitride films are deposited on Coming 7059 glass substrates by pulsed filtered cathodic vacuum arc deposition （PFCVAD）. The crystallographic structure is studied by means of x-ray diffraction. These measurements show that all the films are crystallized in the cubic structure, in a preferred orientation along the （332） and （631） directions. Weak XRD signal shows small crystallites distributed in an amorphous tissue. A small improvement of crystallinity is observed with annealing. Optical parameters such as absorption, energy band gap, Urbach tail, extinction coefficients have been determined. The Urbach tail energy is decreased with annealing at 500℃ for one hour. Energy band gap values are found to be increased by annealing.

Antimicrobial resistance and underlying mechanisms in Staphylococcus aureus isolates

Objective: To investigate the antimicrobial susceptibility of 97 clinical Staphylococcus aureus(S. aureus) strains against 14 antimicrobials and corresponding resistance ***: The antimicrobial susceptibility of the isolates was determined using a disk diffusion method and antimicrobial resistance genes were screened by polymerase chain reaction. Mutations responsible for ciprofloxacin and rifampicin resistance were investigated by polymerase chain reaction and DNA ***: All isolates were found to be susceptible to vancomycin. Various rates of resistance to penicillin(83.5%), ampicillin(77.3%), erythromycin(63.9%), tetracycline(16.5%), amoxicillin/clavulanic acid(16.5%), ciprofloxacin(15.5%), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole(15.5%), oxacillin(13.4%), fusidic acid(12.4%), rifampin(6.2%), clindamycin(6.2%), gentamicin(6.2%) and mupirocin(5.2%) were determined. In addition,different combinations of resistance genes were identified among resistant *** resistant isolates had mutations in codon 84(Ser84 Leu) and 106(Gly106 Asp) in the gyr A gene. Mutations in grl A were mostly related to Ser80 Phe substitution. Leu466 Ser mutation in the rpo B gene was detected in all rifampin resistant isolates. All methicillin resistant S. aureus isolates were SCCmec type ***: In conclusion, it was determined that the isolates were resistant to different classes of antimicrobials at varying rates and resistance was mediated by different genetic mechanisms. Therefore, continuous monitoring of resistance in S. aureus strains is necessary to control their resistance for clinically important antimicrobials.
