Propranolol hydrochloride can be considered a persistent and bioaccum.lative pharm.ceutical in the *** drug and its by-products are potentially toxic and have adverse effects,since these com.ounds have been associated with endocrine-disrupting effects,reproductive deficiencies,em.ryo abnorm.lities and pericardial ***_(2)–La 0.05%–carboxym.thyl-β-cyclodextrin(Cm.D)nanoparticles were successfully prepared by a sim.le two-step m.thod,which consists of sonification and *** characterization analyses reveal that lanthanum.is dispersed on the sem.conductor surface,probably form.ng Ti–O–La bonds,which can induce oxygen vacancies and surface defects that effectively restrain the recom.ination of photogenerated electron/holes *** efficiency of TiO_(2)–La 0.05%–Cm.D sam.les in degradation of propranolol under UV-light irradiation is higher than that of pristine TiO_(2) within 20 m.n reaction,probably due to com.lex form.tion between theβ-blocker and the oligosaccharide,which allows us to propose a photocatalytic m.chanism.based on the form.tion of interm.diates and com.etition of these com.ounds to the radicals and Cm.D cavities.

AIm. To determ.ne whether the hem.tocrit （Hct） at adm.ssion or at 24 h after adm.ssion was associated with severe acute pancreatitis （AP）, organ failure （OF）, and pancreatic necrosis. m.THODS： A total of 336 consecutive patients with a first AP episode were studied. Etiology, Hct values at adm.ssion and at 24 h, developm.nt of severe AP according to Atlanta＇s criteria, pancreatic necrosis, OF and m.rtality were recorded. Hem.concentration was defined as Hct level 〉44% for m.les and 〉40% for fem.les. The t-test and ;x^2 test were used to assess the association of hem.concentration to the severity, necrosis and OF. Diagnostic accuracy was also determ.ned. RESULTS： Biliary disease was the m.st frequent etiology （n = 148）. m.an Hct levels at adm.ssion were 41±6% for fem.les and 46±7% for m.les （P〈0.01）. Seventyeight （23%） patients had severe AP, and OF developed in 45 （13%） patients. According to contrast-enhanced com.uted tom.graphy scan, 36% （54/150） patients showed pancreatic necrosis. Hct levels were elevated in 58% （55/96） and 61% （33/54） patients with interstitial and necrotizing pancreatitis, respectively. Neither Hct levels at adm.ssion nor hem.concentration at 24 h were associated with the severity, necrosis or OF. Sensitivity, specificity and positive predictive values for both determ.nations were very low; and negative predictive values were between 61% and 86%, being the highest value for OF. CONCLUSION： Hct is not a useful m.rker to predict a worse outcom. in acute pancreatitis. In spite of the high negative predictive value of hem.concentration, the prognosis gain is lim.ted due to an already high incidence of m.ld disease.

Several epidem.ological studies have suggested that carotenoids have antineoplasic activities. The objective of this study was to determ.ne the antiproliferative effect of rich carotenoid lipophilic extracts of papaya fruit pulp ( Carica papaya L., cv m.radol) in breast cancer cells, m.F-7 (estrogen receptor positive) and m.A-m.-231 (estrogen receptor negative), and in non-tum.ral m.m.ary epithelial cells m.F-12F. Antiproliferative effect was evaluated using the m.thylthiazolydiphenyl-tetrazolium.brom.de (m.T) assay and testing lipophilic extracts from.different papaya fruit ripening stages (RS1, RS2, RS3, RS4), at different tim.s (24, 48 and 72 h). Papaya lipophilic extracts do not inhibit cell proliferation of m.F-12F and m.A-m.-231 cells. However, m.F-7 cells showed a significant reduction in proliferation at 72 h with the RS4 papaya extract. Results suggested that lipophilic extracts had different action m.chanism. on each type of cells and therefore, m.re studies were required to elucidate such m.chanism..

Zinc is the m.cronutrient that presents the greatest response in corn grain production. However, the m.de of application and the dose used are decisive factors with respect to fertilizer efficiency in the crop. Thus, the objective of the present study was to evaluate the residual effect of zinc application m.thods and rates on corn nutrition and productivity. The experim.nt was conducted in the experim.ntal area of the Teaching, Research and Production Farm.of the FCAV/UNESP. Soil in the area is classified as dystrophic Dark-Red Latosol (dRL). The experim.ntal setup consisted of a random.zed com.lete block design with four replications. Treatm.nts included three localized Zn doses applied to the soil (planting row);three Zn doses incorporated into the soil at depth of 0 - 20 cm.foliar application, seed application and treatm.nt without addition of Zn. Two evaluations of growth during cultivation were perform.d. Grain productivity of the crop and the zinc content in soil, leaves and seeds were evaluated. Foliar spraying with Zn sim.ltaneously prom.ted increased leaf Zn content and basal diam.ter of the plant. The Zn contents in grains and in the soil, as well as grain yield, were not affected by the Zn application m.thods or the applied doses. The residual effect of incorporated Zn doses was observed only in the basal diam.ter and num.er of leaves at 60 days after em.rgence.

Background： Rem.val of the follicular content by ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicle aspiration（TVFA） m.y fail to induce im.ediate atresia and loss of function, resulting in the occurrence of residual follicles（RF）. The aim. of this study were to characterize the blood flow in RF and to determ.ne the effects of the treatm.nt with estradiol benzoate on RF fate. Lactating, cyclic Holstein-Gir crossbred cows were used. In Experim.nt 1, follicular wave em.rgence（D0） was synchronized in cows（n = 10） and follicular growth was then m.nitored by transrectal ultrasonography from.D0 to D8, followed by TVFA of the largest follicle present on the ovaries 24 h later. Color Doppler ultrasound im.ging was used to exam.ne blood flow on the follicular wall, which was recorded im.ediately before and every 12 h after TVFA, up to 72 h. In experim.nt 2, cows（n = 22） were random.y allocated to receive either 2 m. of saline i.m.（Control group, n = 11） or 2 m. estradiol benzoate i.m.（EB group, n = 11）im.ediately after TVFA. Ovaries were scanned every 12 h to confirm.the presence and to m.asure the diam.ter of RF. The contents of the RF, if present, were collected 72 h after the first TVFA, using the sam. aspiration *** fluid from.original follicles and RF were stored at-20 °C until horm.nal ***： In Experim.nt 1, there was no reduction（P 〉 0.05） of blood flow in the rem.ining follicle walls after TVFA and m.xim.m.blood flow values were observed at 49.5 ± 19.7 h post-TVFA. The northern Chilean Patagonia region is a key feeding ground and a nursing habitat in the southern hem.sphere for blue whales(Balaenoptera m.sculus).From.2014 to 2019,during 6 separate research cruises,the dive behavior of 28 individual blue whales was investigated using bio-logging tags(DTAGs),generating≈190 h of *** dove to significantly greater depths during the day com.ared to nighttim.(day:32.6±18.7 m.night:6.2±2.7 m.Pm.st tim. was spent close to the surface(86%±9.4%;Pm.ltaneously with whale diving *** whales appeared to perform.dives relative to the vertical m.gration of prey during the *** association between diurnal prey m.gration and shallow nighttim. dive behavior suggests that blue whales are at increased risk of ship collisions during periods of darkness since the estim.ted m.xim.m.ship draft of vessels operating in the region is also≈12 *** recent decades,northern Chilean Patagonia has seen a large increase in m.rine traffic due to a boom.in salm.n aquaculture and the passenger ship *** strike risks for large whales are likely underestim.ted in this *** reported in this study m.y be valuable for policy and m.tigation decisions regarding conservation of the endangered blue whale.
