The yellow color of the cocoon of the silkworm Bombyx mori is controlled by three genes, Y （Yellow haemolymph）, 1 （Yellow inhibitor） and C （ Outer-layer yellow cocoon）, which are located on linkage groups 2, 9 and 12, respectively. Taking advantage of a lack of crossing over in females, reciprocal backcrossed F1 （BC1） progeny were used for linkage analysis and mapping of the C gene using silkworm strains C 108 and KY, which spin white and yellow cocoons, respectively. DNA was extracted from individual pupae and analyzed for simple sequence repeat （SSR） markers. The C gene was found to be linked to seven SSR markers. All the yellow cocoon individuals from a female heterozygous backcross （BC1F） showed a heterozygous profile for SSR markers on linkage group 12, whereas individuals with light yellow cocoons showed the homozygous profile of the strain C108. Using a reciprocal heterozygous male backcross （BC1M）, we constructed a linkage map of 36.4 cM with the C gene located at the distal end, and the closest SSR marker at a distance of 13.9 cM.

Robust Coordinated Control for a Type of Hypersonic Aircraft

We investigate couplings between variables of attitude dynamics for a hypersonic aircraft,and present a nonlinear robust coordinated control scheme for ***,we design three kinds of coordinated factors to restrain the strong ***,we use projection mapping to estimate the uncertain nonlinear functions of the *** the coordinated factors and the designed control laws,we obtain a coordinated torque and assign it to the control deflection commands by using the allocation matrix.A stability analysis demonstrates that all the signals of the closed-loop system are uniformly and fully ***,the robust coordinated performance of the designed scheme is verified through numerical simulations.

Accumulating evidence in recent years indicates that DNA methylation(5-methyl-2-deoxycytidine,5-mdC) and hydroxymethylation(5-hydroxymethyl-2-deoxycytidine, 5-hmd C) have been implicated in various biological processes, and the aberrations of these DNA cytosine modifications is tightly associated with cancer. N6-methyl-2-deoxyadenosine(m~6dA), as a newly discovered epigenetic modification in genome of mammals, has been demonstrated to play vital regulatory roles in tumorigenesis. However, the content information of m~6dA in human tumor tissues is still limited and pan-cancer analysis of these DNA epigenetic modifications is lacked. Herein, we developed a sensitive and robust stable isotopediluted hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(HILIC-MS/MS) method for accurate quantification of m~6dA, 5-mdC and 5-hmdC in genomic DNA from 82 pairs of human tumor tissues and matched tumor-adjacent normal tissues. The types of tumors included esophagus cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, gastric cancer, stromal tumor and colorectal *** to the normal tissues, we revealed the level of m6dA was increased in tumor tissues of esophagus cancer, lung cancer and liver cancer, whereas the level of m~6dA was diminished in tumor tissues of pancreatic cancer and gastric cancer;while the contents of 5-mdC and 5-hmdC exhibited significant decrease in tumor tissues of most types of cancer. It is worth noting that we revealed, for the first time,the content of genomic m~6dA in pancreatic cancer, stromal tumor and colorectal cancer. The significant changes of these DNA epigenetic modifications indicate they may serve as indicators of cancers. In addition, this study will benefit for better understanding of the regulatory roles of these DNA epigenetic modifications in cancers.

Private Keyword-Search for Database Systems Against Insider Attacks

The notion of searchable encrypted keywords introduced an elegant approach to retrieve encrypted data without the need of decryption. Since the introduction of this notion, there are two main searchable encrypted keywords techniques, symmetric searchable encryption （SSE） and public key encryption with keyword search （PEKS）. Due to the complicated key management problem in SSE, a number of concrete PEKS constructions have been proposed to overcome it. However, the security of these PEKS schemes was only weakly defined in presence of outsider attacks;therefore they suffer from keyword guessing attacks from the database server as an insider. How to resist insider attacks remains a challenging problem. We propose the first searchable encrypted keywords against insider attacks （SEK-IA） framework to address this problem. The security model of SEK-IA under public key environment is rebuilt. We give a concrete SEK-IA construction featured with a constant-size trapdoor and the proposed scheme is formally proved to be secure against insider attacks. The performance evaluations show that the communication cost between the receiver and the server in our SEK-IA scheme remains constant, independent of the sender identity set size, and the receiver needs the minimized computational cost to generate a trapdoor to search the data from multiple senders.

Toxicity of Chlorpyrifos and Dimethoate to the Ciliate Urostyla grandis, with Notes on Their Effects on Cell Ultrastructure

Chlorpyrifos and dimethoate are overused agricultural pesticides that can trigger trophic cascades, resulting in toxicity to both terrestrial and aquatic organisms as well as altered ecosystems. In previous studies, substantial attention has been given to the effects of pesticides on vertebrate species and, to a lesser extent, species of zooplankton. The present study was designed to show that the fission time effective concentration in ciliates is a potential aquatic detection index for environmental monitoring. The ciliate Urostyla grandis was treated with doses of chlorpyrifos and dimethoate. After exposed to the pesticides, the LC_(50)(i.e., concentration that killed 50% of the ciliate cells within 24 h) values were 0.029 mg L^(-1) for chlorpyrifos and 0.0685 mg L^(-1) for dimethoate. The fission time effective concentrations after 168 h of exposure were 0.0075–0.0093 mg L^(-1) for chlorpyrifos and 0.2640–0.2750 mg L^(-1) for dimethoate. These results show that the fission time effective concentration is lower than the LC_(50) value in ciliates, indicating that fission time effective concentration is more suitable than the LC_(50) value for environmental monitoring using ciliates. The effects of chlorpyrifos and dimethoate on ciliate cell ultrastructures included agglutination of chromatin in the macronucleus, protruded and discontinuous macronuclear and micronuclear membranes, loss of integrity of mitochondrial membranes and contents, and abscission and deformation of the adoral zone of membranelles.

Using FEM to predict tree motion in a wind field

In this paper we propose a finite element(FE) simulation method to predict tree motion in a wind field. Two FE tree models were investigated:One model was generated based on a realistic nature-looking geometric tree model,and the other was a symmetric model to investigate the influence of asymmetric material properties on tree motion. The vortex-induced vibration(VIV) theory is introduced to estimate the fluctuating wind force being exerted on tree stems and the fluid-structure interaction(FSI) analysis is also included in the simulation. The results indicate that asymmetric material properties result in the crosswind displacement of the investigated node and the main swaying direction deviation. The simulation reveals that under wind loading,a tree with leaves has much larger swaying amplitude along the wind direction and longer swaying period than a tree without leaves. However,the crosswind swaying amplitude is mainly due to branch interaction. The numerical simulation proved that the inter-action of tree branches can prevent dangerous swaying motion developing.
