Cadherins belong to one of the families of animal glycoproteins responsible for cal-cium-dependent cell-cell *** literatures showed that the cadherin-like in midgut of several insects served as the receptor of Bt toxin Cry1A and the variation of cadherin-like is re-lated to insect’s resistance to *** full-length cDNA encoding cadherin-like of Helicoverpa armigera is cloned by degenerate PCR and RACE techniques and the gene was designated as BtR-harm,which is 5581 bp in full-length,encoding 1730 amino acid residues(BtR-harm was deposited in GenBank and the accession number is AF519180).Its predicted molecular weight and isoelectric point were 195.39 kDa and 4.23,*** inferred amino acid sequence includes a signal sequence,11 cadherin repeats,a membrane-proximal region,a transmem-brane region and a cytoplasmic *** analysis indicated that the deduced protein sequence was most similar to the cadherin-like from Heliothis virescens with 84.2%identity and highly similar to three other lepidopteran cadherin from Bombyx mori,Manduca sexta and Pectinophora gossypiella,with the sequence identities of 60.3.6%,57.5%and 51.0%,*** cDNA encoding cadherin gene was expressed successfully in *** and the recom-binant proteins can bind with *** analysis and binding experiment of BtR-harm revealed that the Cry1A binding region was a contiguous 244-amino acid sequence,which lo-cated between amino acid 1217 and ***-quantitative RT-PCR analysis showed that BtR-harm was highly expressed in midgut of ***,very low expressed in foregut and hindgut and was not expressed in other *** *** producing resistance to Cry1Ac,the expression quantity of BtR-harm significantly decreased in midgut of *** is the first confirmation that BtR-harm can function as receptor of Cry1Ac in *** and the binding region was located on a contiguous 244 amino acid sequence,suggesting that the de-crease o

In insects,the number and specificity of antennal lobe glomeruli often reflect the number and diversity of expressed chemosensory genes,which are linked to its ecological niche and specific olfactory *** oriental armyworm,Mythimna separata,is an important and common lepidopteran pest of cereal *** its reliance on the olfactory system for crucial behaviors,understanding the evolutionary potential of this system requires a thorough characterization of the anatomical structure of the primary olfactory ***,we systematically identified all antennal lobe glomeruli of *** based on synaptic antibody immunostaining and mass staining of the olfactory sensory neurons.A total of 69 glomeruli were identified in females and 65 in males,and an intuitive nomenclature based on glomerular positions was *** findings uncovered some sex-specific glomeruli in this *** were ten female-specific glomeruli and three male-specific glomeruli,except for the macroglomerular complex(MGC)units,with a notable observation that the female labial pit organ glomerulus was larger than its male ***,we identified four antennal-lobe tracts(ALTs)and retrograde labeling from the calyx revealed that all glomeruli were innervated by the medial ALT projection *** comparison of the olfactory system structures between *** and sympatric moths supports their evolutionary convergence in noctuid *** results collectively lay the foundation for future studies on olfactory processing in ***.

Group B Streptococcus(GBS)is the major pathogen that causes invasive infectious diseases in neonates and *** develop-ment of preventive and therapeutic strategies against GBS infection has been becoming the most pressing subject *** B carbohydrate(GBC),the group B-specific polysaccharide that distinguishes GBS with other streptococci species,has been identified as an attractive antigen for diagnosis and vaccine development because of its highly conservative tetra-antennary *** this paper,a highly convergent[3+5]glycosylation strategy for efficient synthesis of an octasaccharide derivative related to GBC oligo-saccharide unitⅡhas been *** this synthesis,each glycosylation reaction was efficiently constructed with glycosyl im-idates,especially trifluoroacetimidate,as donors,and each glycosidic bond was stereoselectively controlled via the neighboring group participation effect of acyl group on the 2-O-position of imidate donors or the solvent effect of Et_(2)***,the ami-noethylphosphate group was smoothly installed on the 6-O-position of D-glucitoll residue using the phosphoramidite *** global deprotection,the target octasaccharide was successfully obtained from o-glucitol in 29 steps with an overall yield of 1.37%.The free amino group installed on the aminoethylphosphate spacer of the target molecule enables its modification with functional-ized biomolecules for further biological studies.

In recent years, soaring energy consumption is posing a huge potential threat to China＇s energy security. China has rich coal resources, but most of the coal is mainly burned directly with low efficiency. Thus oil and gas plays a comparatively important role in national economic development. However domestic oil and gas cannot meet the need of economic development. To solve this problem, China would continue to import oil and gas from petroleum producing countries, especially from the Middle East. The dependence on oil import increases year after year and the sources of supply are concentrated in a few countries, which results in the insecurity of energy supply. Therefore, China should optimize its energy structure, improve energy efficiency, increase the geographic diversity of oil supply, build oil reserve bases, and develop new energies actively.

Arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM)fungi may help protect plants against herbivores;however,their use for the pest control of woody plants requires further ***,we investigated the effect of Glomus mosseae colonization on the interactions between gypsy moth larvae and Populus alba×*** seedlings and deciphered the regulatory mechanisms underlying the mycorrhizal-induced resistance in the leaves of mycorrhizal poplar using RNA-seq and nontargeted *** resistance assay showed that AM fungus inoculation protected poplar seedlings against gypsy moth larvae,as evidenced by the decreased larval growth and reduced larval survival.A transcriptome analysis revealed that differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were involved in jasmonic acid biosynthesis(lipoxygenase,hydroperoxide dehydratase,and allene oxide cyclase)and signal transduction(jasmonate-ZIM domain and transcription factor MYC2)and identified the genes that were upregulated in mycorrhizal *** for chalcone synthase and anthocyanidin synthase,which were downregulated in mycorrhizal seedlings,all DEGs related to flavonoid biosynthesis were upregulated,including 4-coumarate-CoA ligase,chalcone isomerase,flavanone 3-hydroxylase,flavonol synthase,and leucoanthocyanidin *** metabolome analysis showed that several metabolites with insecticidal properties,including coumarin,stachydrine,artocarpin,norizalpinin,abietic acid,6-formylumbelliferone,and vanillic acid,were significantly accumulated in the mycorrhizal *** findings suggest the potential of mycorrhiza-induced resistance for use in pest management of woody plants and demonstrate that the priming of JA-dependent responses in poplar seedlings contributes to mycorrhiza-induced resistance to insect pests.
