Pediatric ocular rosacea, a misdiagnosed disease with high morbidity:Proposed diagnostic criteria

Ocular rosacea is an important and underdiagnosed chronic inflammatory disorder observed in children. A clinical spectrum ranging from chronic eyelid inflammation, recurrent ocular redness, photophobia and/or hordeola/chalazions and conjunctival/corneal phlyctenules evolving to neovascularization and scarring may occur. Visual impairment and consequent amblyopia are frequent and corneal perforation although rare is the most feared complication. Ocular manifestations usually precede cutaneous lesions. Although few cases of pediatric ocular rosacea(POR) have been reported in the literature, many cases must have been underdiagnosed or misdiagnosed. The delay in diagnosis is greater than one year in the large majority of cases and may lead to serious ocular sequelae. This review aims to highlight the clinical features of POR, its epidemiology, easy diagnosis and effective treatment. We also propose new diagnostic criteria, in which at least three of the five clinical criteria must be present:(1) Chronic or recurrent keratoconjunctivitis and/or red eye and/or photophobia;(2) Chronic or recurrent blepharitis and/or chalazia/hordeola;(3) Eyelid telangiectasia documented by an ophthalmologist;(4) Primary periorificial dermatitis and/or primary features of rosacea; and (5) Positive familial history of cutaneous and/or ocular rosacea.

This research is an active pedagogical experience with surgeons who are specialized in reconstructive plastic surgery and nursing. The guiding questions were the statements of each Surgeon’s clients and what they think about them. Modeling the imaginary bodies of the patients and identify what they built in their minds, highlighting topics and the discussion about the practice made in clay modeling. Eight bodies were modeled, with six bodies with all the senses and two incomplete bodies with only the regions of the breasts and buttocks. It was concluded that there are diverse issues emerging such as gender, ethics, care, spirituality and dream as the fulfillment of the wishes of the patients. Where in the body can these surgeons act to improve the patients’ physical and quality of life? There is an important theme when we are generally welcoming women into an anamnesis that considers their body as a whole, but what is their expectation for each patient? This paper showed the importance of the preoperative evaluation of this whole, for the indication of repairs or contraindications of procedures that aim to improve the physical of the patients, with possible bodily surgical modifications as a form of modeling through liposuction, grafting or excision with lipectomy and withdrawal of excess skin to mitigate the effects of the transformations that deform the physical and end up harming the human relationship, especially women. This is a qualitative method showing the meanings of the bodies of the women represented in the modeling by the Surgeons. However, some surgeons stand out by the look of their practice, as greater sensitivity looking at the body as a whole, spiritual and emotional. They need to use their skills as surgical art and gift, to try to achieve a means, but not an end.

目的研究不同比例缩小体积肝移植的结果,确定猪能耐受的最小体积的肝移植。方法远系繁殖猪70头分为原位全肝移植作为对照组和3组不同比例缩小体积原位肝移植(按照缩小体积的移植肝占受体切除肝脏重量的百分比;1组:60%;2组:30%;3组:20%);实验采用原位经典肝移植方式(静脉转流)。术后第3天和第5天取肝标本。结果对照组和3组不同比例缩小体积肝移植的移植物与受体肝脏重量百分比(GIWRW)分别为87·4%±8·3%、59·9%±5·2%、33·6%±4·9%和22·1%±3·4%;移植物与受体体重百分比(GIWBW)分别2·4%±0·4%、1·43%±0·17%、0·81%±0·09%和0·53%±0·06%。对照组、1组和2组存活率达100%;3组存活率仅为53%。4个组的动物处死后肝脏移植物重量均有显著的增加。结论安全的缩小体积肝移植,应以移植物与受体肝脏重量百分比不小于33%,同时移植肝与受体重量百分比不小于0·8%为限。

One of the most studied topics in cartography is the extraction of interest cartographic features. Using the image of the cartographic feature extracted, the researchers can provide the update of the cartographic maps, more easily, and study other topics like the area of the cartographic feature. For this reason many automatic routines were created with the intent to perform the extraction of the cartographic features of interest. However, some features can not be found by the algorithm, so the current article aims to show the results with a semiautomatic routine where the user can interact with the algorithm choosing some options and showing some features of the extraction"s goals to help the routine realize the necessary. The results found until now with this algorithm are enough to say that this can be used to realize the cartographic features extraction independent of where it will be used for.

Surgical treatment of cementoblastoma associated with apicoectomy and endodontic therapy:Case report

This case report describes the surgical removal of cementoblastoma associated with apicoectomy and endodontic therapy. The patient, an 18-year-old man, presented pain in the region of the mandibular body on the right side. On clinical exam, bone expansion was observed in the region at the bottom of the vestibular sulcus, pain on palpation, slight extrusion of tooth 46 with presence of pulp vitality. Radiographic exams demonstrated the presence of a radiopaque area and discrete radiolucent halo associated with the root of tooth 46, suggesting the diagnosis of cementoblastoma. Endodontic treatment of tooth 46 was performed and exeresis of the lesion by apicoectomy. Twelve months after the first surgery, recurrence of the lesion was observed, and a new apicoectomy was necessary, this time up to the middle third of the root. Clinical radiographic control 12 mo after the second surgical intervention demonstrated absence of signs and symptoms, radiographic repair, with tooth 46 shown to be fully functional.

Samples of raw milk from bulk cooling tanks were collected in five municipalities of the Southwestern Brazilian Amazon to establish the prevalence of Staphylococcus aueus and Streptococcus agalactiae, as well as to evaluate the milk composition and its correlation with the bulk tank somatic cell count (BTSCC). A total of 250 samples were collected to investigate the causal agents of bovine mastitis in whole milk, from 50 bulk milk tanks in each municipality. Under laboratory conditions, the samples were diluted to 1/10 and 1/100, and samples of 0.1 ml from each dilution were plated in triplicate on selective media for Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae. To evaluate the correlation between the major milk components (fat, protein and lactose) and the BTSCC, samples were collected for 18 months from 73 dairy herds. The presence of the above-mentioned contagious mastitis pathogens was detected in 97.2% (243/250) of refrigerated raw milk samples evaluated. Analysis of the major milk components and BTSCC demonstrated that during the study period, fat compo-nent showed the largest variance, followed by protein and lactose, which also showed significant variances.
