Highly Flexible and Broad‑Range Mechanically Tunable All‑Wood Hydrogels with Nanoscale Channels via the Hofmeister Effect for Human Motion Monitoring

Wood-based hydrogel with a unique anisotropic structure is an attractive soft material,but the presence of rigid crystalline cellulose in natural wood makes the hydrogel less flexible.In this study,an all-wood hydrogel was constructed by cross-linking cellulose fibers,polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)chains,and lignin molecules through the Hofmeister effect.The all-wood hydrogel shows a high tensile strength of 36.5 MPa and a strain up to~438%in the longitudinal direction,which is much higher than its tensile strength(~2.6 MPa)and strain(~198%)in the radial direction,respectively.The high mechanical strength of all-wood hydrogels is mainly attributed to the strong hydrogen bonding,physical entanglement,and van der Waals forces between lignin molecules,cellulose nanofibers,and PVA chains.Thanks to its excellent flexibility,good conductivity,and sensitivity,the all-wood hydrogel can accurately distinguish diverse macroscale or subtle human movements,including finger flexion,pulse,and swallowing behavior.In particular,when“An Qi”was called four times within 15 s,two variations of the pronunciation could be identified.With recyclable,biodegradable,and adjustable mechanical properties,the all-wood hydrogel is a multifunctional soft material with promising applications,such as human motion monitoring,tissue engineering,and robotics materials.

One-pot synthesis of 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan from biomass derived 5-(chloromethyl)furfural in high yield

5-(Chloromethyl)furfural(CMF),as a new platform molecular,has become a hot topic in the field of biorefinery.Herein,the one-pot conversion of CMF to 2,5-bis(hydroxymethyl)furan(BHMF)in the water phase was demonstrated for the first time.A 91%BHMF yield was obtained over Ru/Cu Oxcatalyst,and BHMF was mainly produced by the consecutive hydrolysis and hydrogenation of CMF with 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)as an intermediate.Kinetic studies revealed that the conversion of HMF to BHMF was the rate-determining step.Remarkably,the characterizations and density functional theory(DFT)calculations further revealed the lower electron density of Ru NPs in Ru/Cu Oxcatalyst,resulting in a larger adsorption energy and a smaller free energy difference for the formation of alcohols.The present findings offered a new pathway for biomass-derived diol production through CMF as a potential source.

Multiscale evolution mechanism of sandstone under wet-dry cycles of deionized water:From molecular scale to macroscopic scale

Water is the most abundant molecule found on the earth’s surface and is a key factor in multiscale rock destruction.However,given the fine-grained nature of rock and the complexity of its internal structure,the microstructural evolution of rock under the action of water has not yet been elucidated in detail,and little is understood about the relationship between the rock structure and solideliquid unit.A variety of techniques were used in this study to track the mechanical properties,pore and crack characteristics,and mineral structure degradation characteristics of sandstone at different stages under the action of deionized water,and the evolution mechanisms of the microstructure were analyzed at the molecular scale.The results showed that during the watererock interaction process,water was adsorbed onto the surface of dolomite minerals and the hydrophilic surface of clay minerals,forming a high-density hydrogen bond network.However,different mineral surface structures had different water adsorption structures,resulting in the strain of the dense clay mineral aggregates under expansion action.Stress concentrated at crack tips under the capillary force of dolomite minerals(very weak dolomite dissolution).These effects resulted in a substantial increase in the number of small pores and enhancements in poreecrack connectivity,and the rock strength exhibited varying degrees of decline at different stages of wet-dry cycles.In general,the results of this paper will help to further elucidate the internal connections between molecular-scale and macroscale processes in rock science.

Quantum authorization management(QAM)is the quantum scheme for privilege management infrastructure(PMI)problem.Privilege management(authorization management)includes authentication and authorization.Authentication is to verify a user’s identity.Authorization is the process of verifying that a authenticated user has the authority to perform a operation,which is more fine-grained.In most classical schemes,the authority management center(AMC)manages the resources permissions for all network nodes within the jurisdiction.However,the existence of AMC may be the weakest link of the whole scheme.In this paper,a protocol for QAM without AMC is proposed based on entanglement swapping.In this protocol,Bob(the owner of resources)authenticates the legality of Alice(the user)and then shares the right key for the resources with Alice.Compared with the other existed QAM protocols,this protocol not only implements authentication,but also authorizes the user permissions to access certain resources or carry out certain actions.The authority division is extended to fin-grained rights division.The security is analyzed from the four aspects:the outsider’s attack,the user’s attack,authentication and comparison with the other two QAM protocols.

Application of Time-Series Model to Predict Groundwater Dynamic in Sanjiang Plain, Northeast China

To study the groundwater dynamic in the typical region of Sanjiang Plain, long-term groundwater level observation data in the Honghe State Farm were collected and analyzed in this paper. The seasonal and long-term groundwater dynamic was explored. From 1996 to 2008, groundwater level kept declining due to intensive exploitation of groundwater resources for rice irrigation. A decline of nearly 5 m was found for almost all the monitoring wells. A time-series method was established to model the groundwater dynamic. Modeled results by time-series model showed that the groundwater level in this region would keep declining according to the current exploitation intensity. A total dropdown of 1.07 m would occur from 2009 to 2012. Time-series model can be used to model and forecast the groundwater dynamic with high accuracy. Measures including control on groundwater exploitation amount and application of water saving irrigation technique should be taken to prevent the continuing declining of groundwater in the Sanjiang Plain.

Antidiuretic hormone （ADH） is produced by an area of he brain called the hypothalamus. The hormone is stored in and released by the pituitary gland. When ADH （also called vasopressin） is produced somewhere other than the hypothalamus, the condition is called syndrome of inappropriate antidiuretic hormone （SIADH）. A variety of conditions can trigger abnormal ADH production, but the main cause is cancer. It is frequently one of the first signs of lung cancer, especially small cell carcinoma, which produces ADH ectopically.l

Clinical effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine diet therapy on bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy: a meta-analysis

OBJECITVES: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diet therapy is a therapy that uses medicines with the same source of medicine and food as well as dishes composed of nutritious foods to help patients recover and improve their resistance. This meta-analysis focuses on the clinical efficacy of (TCM) diet therapy on bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy. We hypothesize that TCM diet therapy can alleviate bone marrow suppression in patients. METHODS: Computer search was conducted on Cochrane Library， Embase， Web of science， PubMed， CNKI， VIP， and Wanfang Data database from the establishment of the database to September 2020. Randomized controlled trials (RCT) of the clinical efficacy of TCM diet therapy in patients with bone marrow suppression are collected. Two investigators independently screened the literature according to the inclusion criteria， extracted data， and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies by using ROB2.0. Then， RevMan5.3 software was used to perform meta-analysis， while GRADEpro was used to evaluate the level of evidence of the outcome indicators. RESULTS: Ten RCTs and 837 patients were included. Meta-analysis results show that compared with conventional diet care， the TCM diet therapy group can more effectively treat bone marrow suppression after chemotherapy for malignant tumors. It can also increase the counts of white blood cells， red blood cells， platelets， hemoglobin (MD=0.56， 95%CI=0.23–0.89， P=0.0009; MD=0.29， 95%CI=0.19–0.40， P<0.00001; MD=29.64， 95%CI=25.97–33.31， P<0.00001; SMD=0.86， 95%CI =0.25–1.47， P=0.006)， and other blood cells and improve the quality of life of patients (RR=1.28， 95%CI =1.09–1.51， P=0.003). The difference is statistically significant. The GRADE quality evaluation showed that among the outcome indicators， white blood cells， red blood cells， platelets， hemoglobin， hematocrit， and quality of life were moderate evidence that the albumin count was low， and the proportion of neutrophils was very low. Mass testing is an intervention strategy for COVID-19 control in the general population regardless of the presentation of symptoms.It involves collecting nasal or pharyngeal swabs for DNA testing,often using the polymerase chain reaction method.Countries that have used mass testing consider it to be a viable strategy to control the COVID-19 pandemic as the strategy can potentially identify and isolate asymptomatic cases in the early stages of infection and reduce the risk of virus transmission.Since the reopening of Wuhan,China,in early April 2020,China has conducted mass testings in three megacities with populations of over 10 million,including Beijing and Qingdao1 at the beginning of their local outbreaks,and Wuhan immediately after the reopening.
