A highly efficient asymmetric allylic alkylation of cyclic and acyclic carbon nucleophiles with vinyl epoxides has been developed,which exhibits good functional group compatibility,high atomic and step economy.This protocol utilizes a strategy of synergistic catalysis with a chiral N,N'-dioxide/Ni~Ⅱ complex and an achiral Pd~0 catalyst,generating a series of multisubstituted allylic alcohols with a quaternary carbon stereocenter in high yield and excellent regio-,Z/E-and enantioselectivity under mild conditions.Further transformations of the product demonstrate the potential utility of this protocol in the synthesis of allyl alcohol derivatives and natural product analogues.Experimental studies revealed that the N,N′-dioxide/metal complexes play an important role in controlling the Z/E-and enantioselectivity.The density functional theory(DFT) calculations further demonstrated that multiple C–H···π interactions between the aromatic rings of the two substrates and the amide moiety in the ligand stabilized the dominant transition state.

The deflection of the vertical(DOV) is the key information in the study of ocean gravity field. However, in most areas, the precision of the prime component of DOV is significantly lower than that of the meridian component. To obtain higher accuracy and resolution of ocean gravity information, researchers have proposed a novel altimeter called the wide-swath altimeter. This altimeter allows for the simultaneous acquisition of high-precision and high-resolution two-dimensional measurements of sea surface height(SSH). In this paper, the Surface Water and Ocean Topography(SWOT) mission with a wide-swath altimeter on board is selected for research. One cycle of SWOT sea surface height data is simulated to inverse the DOV in the Arabian Sea(45°E—80°E, 0°-30°N), and the inversion results are compared with those of conventional altimeter data. The results demonstrate that the difference between the meridian and prime components derived from the inversion of SWOT wide-swath data is minimal, significantly outperforming the inversion results of conventional nadir altimeter data. The advantage of SWOT wideswath altimeter lies in its ability to use the multi-directional geoid slope at any sea surface measurement point to invert the components in the meridian and prime directions. To investigate the impact of this advantage on inversion precision, this paper employs a method to calculate the gradient of the geoid in multiple directions to invert DOV components. The improvement effect of calculating the gradient of the geoid in multiple directions on the precision of DOV component is analyzed. It is found that the accuracy of DOV inversion has significantly improved with the increase of geodetic gradient calculation direction.In addition, the effects of various errors and grid spacing in SWOT wide sea surface height data on the precision of DOV inversion are also analyzed.

The effects of land use and land cover changes on hydrological processes and sediment yield are important issues in regional hydrology.The Xunwu River catchment located in the red soil hilly region of southern China has experienced drastic land use changes in the past 30 years,with orchard increases of approximately 42%and forest decreases of approximately 40%.These changes have resulted in some alterations of runoff and sediment yield.This study aims to evaluate effects of land use/land cover on runoff and sediment yield in the Xunwu River catchment.The SWAT model(Soil and Water Assessment Tool)was used for runoff and sediment simulation,and the results met the requirements of the model acceptance based on evaluation statistics of R^(2)(the coefficient of determination),PBIAS(percent bias),and NSE(Nash-Sutcliffe efficiency).Four land use scenarios representing the gradual expansion of orchards in the past 26 years were developed for assessment of hydrological processes and sediment yield simulation.As a result,both runoff and sediment yield were changed insignificantly with decrease rates of 1.84%and 5.29%,respectively.In addition,surface runoff accounts for the largest share of the runoff components,but the lateral flow changed more than other runoff components with a decrease rate of 10.96%.The results show that orchard expansion does not reveal severe water and soil loss.This study can contribute to the rational utilization of land and water resources in the red soil hilly area of southern Jiangxi Province.

As an emerging distributed technology, blockchain has begun to penetrate into many fields such as finance, healthcare, supply chain, intelligent transportation. However, the interoperability and value exchange between different independent blockchain systems is restricting the expansion of blockchain. In this paper, a notary group-based cross-chain interaction model is proposed to achieve the interoperability between different blockchains. Firstly, a notary election mechanism is proposed to choose one notary from the notary group to act as a bridge for cross-chain transactions. Secondly, a margin pool is introduced to limit the misconduct of the elected notary and ensure the value transfer between the involved blockchains. Moreover, a reputation based incentive mechanism is used to encourage members of the notary group to participate in cross-chain transactions. Ethereum-based experiments demonstrate that the proposed mechanism can provide an acceptable performance for cross-chain transactions and provide a higher security level than ordinary cross-chain mechanisms.

The commercialization of lithium-sulfur(Li-S) batteries is obstructed by the sluggish sulfur electrochemical reaction,severe polysulfide shuttling effect,and damaging dendritic lithium growth.Herein,a threedimensional(3D) conductive carbon nanofibers skeleton-based bifunctional electrode host material is fabricated,which consists of a two-dimensional(2D) ultra-thin NiSe_(2)-CoSe_(2)heterostructured nanosheet built on one-dimensional(1D) carbon nanofibers(NiSe_(2)-CoSe_(2)@CNF).When serving as cathodic host,the heterostructured NiSe_(2)-CoSe_(2)@CNF offers a synergistic function of polysulfide confinement and catalysis conversion.The S/NiSe_(2)-CoSe_(2)@CNF cathode shows outstanding cycling stability of 0.03% capacity decay rate per cycle over 500 cycles at 1 C.As anodic host,the NiSe_(2)-CoSe_(2)@CNF with high-flux Li+diffusion property and good lithiophilic capability realizes dendrite-free Li plating/stripping behavior.Benefiting from these synergistically merits,the Li-S full cell with S/NiSe_(2)-CoSe_(2)@CNFILi/NiSe_(2)-CoSe_(2)@CNF electrodes exhibits excellent electrochemical performance including a high specific capacity of1021 mA h g^(-1)over 100 cycles at 0.2 C and reversible areal capacity of 3.05 mA h cm^(-2)under a high sulfur loading of 4.33 mg cm^(-2)at 0.1 C.The pouch cell also delivers ultra-stable Li/S electrochemistry.This study demonstrates a rational and universal electrode construction strategy for developing practical and high-energy Li-S batteries.

The shuttle effect of soluble polysulfides is a serious problem impeding the development of lithium−sulfur batteries.Herein,continuous amino-functionalized University of Oslo 66 membranes supported on carbon nanotube films are proposed as ion-permselective interlayers that overcome these issues and show outstanding suppression of the polysulfide shuttle effect.The proposed membrane material has appropriately sized pores,and can act as ionic sieves and serve as barriers to polysulfides transport while allowing the passage of lithium ions during electrochemical cycles,thereby validly preventing the shuttling of polysulfides.Moreover,a fast catalytic conversion of polysulfides is also achieved with the asdeveloped interlayer.Therefore,lithium−sulfur batteries with this interlayer show a desirable initial capacity of 999.21 mAh·g^(-1)at 1 C and a durable cyclic stability with a decay rate of only 0.04%per cycle over 300 cycles.Moreover,a high area capacity of 4.82 mAh·cm^(-2)is also obtained even under increased sulfur loading(5.12 mg·cm^(-2))and a lean-electrolyte condition(E/S=4.8μL·mg^(-1)).

To the Editor: Stereotyped behavior refers to a series of behaviors with a high frequency and no obvious purpose and meaning. It also includes narrow interest and difficulty in accepting changes in things. In addition to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), stereotyped behavior also exists in various neurodevelopmental disorders, such as Tourette syndrome, Fragile X syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and many other diseases, which are considered to be related to dysfunction of the striatum.

Comparison of the effects of Ti-and Si-containing minerals on goethite transformation in the Bayer digestion of goethitic bauxite

Goethitic bauxite is a widely used raw material in the alumina industry.It is an essential prerequisite to clarify the effect of Ti-and Si-containing minerals on goethite transformation in the Bayer digestion process,which could efficiently utilize the Fe-and Al-containing minerals present in goethitic bauxite.In this work,the interactions between anatase or kaolinite with goethite during various Bayer digestion processes were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS),transmission electron microscopy (TEM),and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).The results showed that anatase and kaolinite hindered the transformation of goethite.Anatase exerted more significant effects than kaolinite due to the dense sodium titanate layer on the goethite surface after reacting with the sodium aluminate solution.Adding the reductant hydrazine hydrate could eliminate the retarding effect by inducing the transformation of goethite into magnetite.In this process,titanium was embedded into the magnetite lattice to form Ti-containing magnetite.Furthermore,the weakening of the interaction between magnetite and sodium aluminosilicate hydrate reduced the influence of kaolinite.As a validation of the above results,the reductive Bayer method resulted in the transformation of goethite into goethitic bauxite with 98.87% relative alumina digestion rate.The obtained red mud with 72.99wt% Fe2O3could be further utilized in the steel industry.This work provides a clear understanding of the transformative effects of Ti-and Si-containing minerals on iron mineral transformation and aids the comprehensive use of iron and aluminum in goethitic bauxite subjected to the reductive Bayer method.

Key genes and mechanisms underlying natural variation of silique length in oilseed rape(Brassica napus L.)germplasm

Silique length influences seed yield in oilseed rape.It shows extensive variation in germplasm resources,and identifying the underlying genes and regulatory mechanisms would advance breeding for the trait.In the present study,a genome-wide association study(GWAS)using 331 core accessions planted in 10 environments revealed 13 loci associated with silique length on chromosomes A01,A04,A07,A09,and C03,explaining 6.2%–19.2%of phenotypic variance.Physiological analysis showed that silique length variation was attributable to differences in silique growth rate and/or duration before four weeks after flowering,with levels of endogenous phytohormones(auxin,ethylene,and GA24,GA12,and GA44)playing an important role.Cytological analysis showed that silique length variation was due mainly to differences in cell number followed by cell size.Transcriptomic analysis of two pools of silique walls with opposite length extremes revealed 3248 differentially expressed genes(DEGs).These DEGs were enriched in several pathways(such as cell wall,cell division,and hormone metabolism)associated with cell proliferation and expansion and silique development.Integrating GWAS,RNA-seq,and functional annotation results revealed 15 candidate genes for the major associated locus q SL.A09-3.Of these,Bna A9.ARF18 and Bna A9.CYP78 A9 were validated by haplotype analysis followed by candidate gene association.Sequence variation in the coding region of Bna A9.ARF18 and expression of Bna A9.CYP78 A9 in silique walls were strongly associated with silique length.Our results provide an explanation for the natural variation of silique length in oilseed rape germplasm and offer useful information for its improvement.

Dear Editor,Bamboos(Bambusoideae,Poaceae)are of significant economic and ecological importance,supporting billions of people and contributing to international trade(Wu et al.,2023).They play a crucial role in carbon fixation and support a multitude of other species including the giant panda(Clark et al.,2015).Since the release of the first draft genome of moso bamboo(Phyllostachys edulis)(Peng et al.,2013),there has been a notable increase in the sequencing,assembly,and annotation of diverse bamboo genomes(Guo et al.,2019;Zheng et al.,2022;Ma et al.,2024).An existing resource for bamboo genomics,BambooGDB(Zhao et al.,2014),provides information based on the individual draft reference genome of moso bamboo.What is needed,however,is a resource reinforcing multiple genome assemblies in Bambusoideae to enable researchers to unravel the evolutionary history of chromosomes and genes through cladespecific comparative genomic investigations.Here,we present BambooBase(https://***/),a newly developed web-based database designed to provide a seamless user experience for bamboo omics and systematics.
