Sleep-disordered breathing is associated with depletion of circulating endothelial progenitor cells and elevation in pulmonary arterial pressure in patients with decompensated systolic heart failure

Background Sleep-disordered breathing （SDB） is known to occur frequently in and may predict worsening progression of patients with congestive heart failure （CHF）. SDB is also known to play an important role in the development of idiopathic pulmonary arterial hyper- tension （PAH） via inducing endothelial dysfunction and vascular remodeling, a pathological process that can be significantly influenced by factors such as osteoprotegerin （OPG） and endothelial progenitor cells （EPCs）. The objective of this study is to determine if CHF with SDB is associated with changes in OPG, EPCs, and PAIl. Methods EPCs were isolated, cultured, and quantified from CHF patients with SDB （n = 52）, or without SDB （n - 68）. OPG and N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide （NT-proBNP） from each group was analyzed and cor- related with EPCs and the mean pulmonary artery pressure （mPAP） measured by right heart catheterization. Results A significant decrease in circulating EPCs （29.30 ± 9.01 vs. 45.17 ± 10.51 EPCs/x 200 field; P 〈 0.05） was found in CHF patients with SDB compared to those without SDB. Both OPG （789.83 ±89.38 vs. 551.29 ± 42.12 pg/mL; P 〈 0.05） and NT-proBNP （5946.50 ± 1434.50 vs. 3028.60 ± 811.90 ng/mL; P 〈 0.05） were also significantly elevated in SDB CHF patients who also had significantly elevated mPAP （50.2 ± 9.5 vs. 36.4 ± 4.1 mm Hg; P 〈 0.05）. EPC numbers correlated inversely with the episodes of apnea and hypopnea per hour （RDI, r = -0.45, P = 0.037） and blood level of OPG （r =-0.53, P = 0.011）. Although NT-proBNP was also increased significantly in patients with SDB, it had no correlation with either EPCs or RD1. Conclusions SDBdue to hypoxemia from decompensated CHF is associated with （1） OPG elevation, （2） EPC depletion, and （3） mPAP elevation. The inverse relationship of circulating OPG with EPCs suggests a likely mechanism for hypoxemia and OPG in the development of pulmonary vascular dysfunction via depleting EPCs, thus worsening prognosis of CHF.

Rechargeable aqueous zinc-metal batteries （AZMBs） are promising candidates for large-scale energy storage systems due to their low cost and high ***,their performance and sustainability are significantly hindered by the sluggish desolvation kinetics at the electrode/electrolyte interface and the corresponding hydrogen evolution reaction where active water molecules tightly participate in the Zn（H2O）62+solvation ***,learnt from self-generated solid electrolyte interphase （SEI） in anodes,the dielectric but ion-conductive zinc niobate nanoparticles artificial layer is constructed on metallic Zn surface （ZNB@Zn）,acting as a rapid desolvation *** zincophilic and dielectric-conductive properties of ZNB layer accelerate interfacial desolvation/diffusion and suppress surface corrosion or dendrite formation,achieving uniform Zn plating/stripping behavior,as confirmed by electronic/optical microscopies and interface spectroscopical measurements together with theoretical ***,the as-prepared ZNB@Zn electrode exhibits excellent cycling stability of over 2000 h and robust reversibility （99.54%） even under high current density and depth of discharge ***,the assembled ZNB@Zn-based full cell displays high capacity-retention rate of 80.21%after 3000 cycles at 5 A g-1and outstanding rate performance up to 10 A *** large-areal pouch cell is stabilized for hundreds of cycles,highlighting the bright prospects of the dielectric but ion-conductive layer in further application of AZMBs.

Optimization Model for Inter-regional Emergency Power Dispatch Considering Transmission Rights Allocation

Inter-regional emergency power dispatch refers to the mandatory fallback guarantee measures for ensuring supply or absorption of emergency demands within provincial grids when market-based approaches have been exhausted from the perspective of mutual assistance in electricity surplus and shortage across provinces and regions. When it is impossible to rely on market declarations directly, how to allocate emergency demands and inter-provincial/regional support capacities and distribute the limited available transfer capacity reasonably among market entities is one of the key issues urgently needing to be addressed in current emergency dispatch. This paper proposes an optimization model for inter-provincial and inter-regional emergency power dispatch considering transmission rights. Inspired by China's current mechanism for allocating transmission channel revenue rights, based on local prioritization and the urgency of emergency demands, a method for determining the priority of emergency transactions considering transmission rights allocation is proposed. This method transforms transmission rights into priority transaction rights, addressing the lack of a reasonable basis for transmission capacity allocation in the emergency dispatch phase. Considering constraints such as available transfer capacity, transaction flow balance, and transaction point power balance constraints, to maximize adjusted social welfare, a clearing model for emergency dispatch optimization considering transaction path priority is constructed. Comparative analysis of the optimization results of three 1e clearing modes, price-based sequential clearing, scenario-based separation, and clearing with transaction path priority, validates the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed optimization clearing model and analyzes the impact of related parameter settings on the clearing results. © 2025 Power System Technology Press. Photoactive complexes of nonprecious transition metals, mainly including those in the first-row and partially the second-row of the Periodic table of elements, have received increasing attention in view of their low cost and long-term sustainability. They are recognized as promising alternatives to noble transition metal complex congeners that have been extensively studied in optoelectronic devices, artificial photosynthesis, photocatalysis, biodiagnostics, and therapeutics, etc. This review is devoted to a comprehensive summary on the classical and recent advances on photoactive nonprecious transition metal complexes, including photoactive Zr, V, Cr, Mo, and W complexes, Mn complexes and hybrids, Fe, Co, Ni, and Cu complexes, and Zn and Cd complexes and hybrids. A particular focus is given on the molecular design, modulation of photophysical and photochemical properties, and applications of the representative and lately-developed nonprecious metal complexes. In addition, a perspective on the future development in this field is provided at the end of this review.

BACKGROUND Autologous fat injection in facial reconstruction is a common cosmetic *** cerebral fat embolism(CFE)as a complication is rare,it carries serious health *** SUMMARY We present a case of a 29-year-old female patient who developed acute CFE following facial fat filling *** the surgery,the patient experienced symptoms including headache,nausea,vomiting,and difficulty breathing,which was followed by neurological symptoms such as slurred speech and left-sided *** physical examination and auxiliary investigations,including blood tests,head and neck computed tomography angiography,and cranial magnetic resonance diffusion-weighted imaging,were performed upon *** clinical diagnosis was acute cerebral embolism following facial fat filling *** included measures to improve cerebral circulation,dehydration for intracranial pressure reduction,nutritional support,and rehabilitation therapy for left limb *** patient showed a significant improvement in symptoms after 2 weeks of *** recovered left limb muscle strength to grade 5,had clear speech,and experienced complete relief of *** Our case highlights the potential occurrence of severe complications in patients undergoing fat injection in facial *** prevent these complications,plastic surgeons should enhance their professional knowledge and skills.

In the intricate process of natural product biosynthesis, a metabolon can enhance metabolic flux by associating sequential enzymes. A fungal metabolon, comprising of flavin-dependent monooxygenase Spe F and P450 monooxygenase Spe G, is identified in the biosynthesis of spiro polycyclic alkaloids(+)-notoamide B and its diastereomer(+)-versicolamide B. Using notoamide E as a substance, Spe F/Spe G metabolon can control the stereoselectivity of its 2,3-epoxidation, followed by hydrogen atom ion at C-17 to generate reactive epoxide tau-m A with dienyl iminium unit. Subsequently,(+)-notoamide B and(+)-versicolamide B are produced via tandem nonenzymatic inverse-electron-demand Diels-Alder reaction and semipinacol rearrangement. This provides the first example of metabolon in the biosynthesis of spiro-prenylated indole alkaloids.

Score Tests for Zero-inflated Double Poisson Regression Models

Count data with excess zeros encountered in many applications often exhibit extra variation. There- fore, zero-inflated Poisson （ZIP） model may fail to fit such data. In this paper, a zero-inflated double Poisson model （ZIDP）, which is generalization of the ZIP model, is studied and the score tests for the significance of dis- persion and zero-inflation in ZIDP model are developed. Meanwhile, this work also develops homogeneous tests for dispersion and/or zero-inflation parameter, and corresponding score test statistics are obtained. One numer- ical example is given to illustrate our methodology and the properties of score test statistics are investigated through Monte Carlo simulations.

Achieving the high phase purity of CH_3NH_3PbI_3 film by two-step solution processable crystal engineering

To date, it is still a great challenge for highly efficient perovskite devices to realize the high quality per- ovskite films with high purity, high coverage ratio and good crystallization by two-step scalable solution method. In this study, a series PbI2 films with tunable micro-architecture of Pbl2 crystals are prepared via solution processable crystal engineering. The perovskite film, prepared by optimized pit spacing in gas pumped PbI2 film at 1000 Pa, shows the highest film quality, including no residual Pbl2 phase, compact morphology, and improved photoluminescence intensity. A transformation kinetics shows that the pit spacing strongly influences both the mass transfer and the sequential intercalation reaction between CH3NH31 and PbI2 crystals, which ultimately determines the full reaction state of the perovskite film. The perovskite solar cells assembled by the perovskite film show both high power-conversion efficiency and good reproducibility of photovoltaic performance due to the restrained charge recombination arising from the high quality perovskite film.
