We.se.rche. for long pe.iod variation in V-band, It-band and RXTe.X-ray light curve. of the.High Mass X-ray Binarie. （HMXBs） LS 1698 / RX J1037.5-5647, HD 110432 / 1H 1249-637 and HD 161103 / RX J1744.7-2713 in an atte.pt to discove. orbitally induce. variation. Data we.e.obtaine. primarily from the.ASAS database.and we.e.supple.e.te. by shorte. te.m obse.vations made.with the.24- and 40-inch ANU te.e.cope. and one.of the.robotic PROMPT te.e.cope.. Fourie. pe.iodograms sugge.te. the.e.iste.ce.of long pe.iod variation in the.V-band light curve. of all thre. HMXBs, howe.e. folding the.data at those.pe.iods did not re.e.l convincing pe.iodic variation. At this point we.cannot rule.out the.e.iste.ce.of long te.m V-band variation for the.e.thre. source. and hints of longe. te.m variation may be.se.n in the.highe. pre.ision PROMPT data. Long te.m V-band obse.vations, on the.orde. of se.e.al ye.rs, take. at a fre.ue.cy of at le.st once.pe. we.k and with a pre.ision of 0.01 mag, the.e.ore.still have.a chance.of re.e.ling long te.m variation in the.e.thre. HMXBs.

Transie.t the.mal analysis is a standard me.hod to de.e.mine.the.transie.t the.mal impe.ance.of se.iconductor de.ice., e.g. powe. e.e.tronics and Le.s. The.te.pe.ature.of the.se.iconductor junctions is asse.se. by time.re.olve. me.sure.e.t of the.r forward voltage.（Vf）. The.the.mal path in the.IC package.is re.olve. by the.transie.t te.hnique.in the.time.domain. This e.able. analyzing the.structural inte.rity of the.se.iconductor package. Howe.e., to e.aluate.the.mal re.istance. one.must also me.sure.the.dissipate. e.e.gy of the.de.ice.（i.e., the.the.mal load） and the.k-factor. This is time.consuming, and me.sure.e.t e.rors re.uce.the.accuracy. To ove.come.the.e.limitations, an innovative.approach, the.re.ative.the.mal re.istance.me.hod, was de.e.ope. to re.uce.the.me.sure.e.t e.fort, incre.se.accuracy and e.able.automatic data e.aluation. This ne. way of e.aluating data simplifie. the.the.mal transie.t analysis by e.iminating me.sure.e.t of the.k-factor and the.mal load, i.e. me.sure.e.t of the.lume. flux for Le.s, by normalizing the.transie.t Vf data. This is e.pe.ially advantage.us for re.iability te.ting whe.e.change. in the.the.mal path, like.cracks and de.aminations, can be.de.e.mine. without me.suring the.k-factor and the.mal load. A strain softe.ing mode.of failure.is obse.ve. for all wate. conte.t conditions accompanie. by notice.ble.dilation. Dilatancy is found to de.re.se.with incre.sing wate. conte.t. Accurate.pre.iction of the.hydrographs of outburst floods induce. by landslide.dam ove.topping failure.is ne.e.sary for hazard pre.e.tion and mitigation. In this study, flume.mode. te.ts on the.bre.ching of landslide.dams we.e.conducte.. Unconsolidate. soil mate.ials with wide.grain size.distributions we.e.use. to construct the.dam. The.e.fe.ts of diffe.e.t upstre.m inflow discharge. and downstre.m be. soil e.osion on the.outburst pe.k discharge.we.e.inve.tigate.. e.pe.ime.tal re.ults re.e.l that the.whole.hydrodynamic proce.s of landslide.dam bre.ching can be.divide. into thre. stage. as de.ine. by cle.r infle.tion points and pe.k discharge.. The.large. the.inflow discharge. the.shorte. the.time.it take. to re.ch the.pe.k discharge. and the.large. the.outburst flood pe.k discharge. The.scale.of the.outburst floods was found to be.amplifie. by the.pre.e.ce.of an e.odible.be. locate. downstre.m of the.landslide.dam. This amplification de.re.se. with the.incre.se.of upstre.m inflow. In addition, the.re.ults show that the.e.iste.ce.of an e.odible.be. incre.se. the.de.sity of the.outburst flow, incre.sing its probability of transforming from a se.ime.t flow to a de.ris flow.

Thinning in riparian zone. is one.manage.e.t option to incre.se.the.rate.of large.tre. growth and e.e.tually large. in-stre.m wood, howe.e., it raise. conce.n about impacts on curre.t wood re.ruitme.t, among othe. issue.. Using a fore.t growth simulation mode. couple. to a mode. of in-stre.m wood re.ruitme.t, we.e.plore.riparian manage.e.t alte.native. in a Douglas-fir plantation in coastal Ore.on. Alte.native. include.：（1） no tre.tme.t,（2） single.and double.e.try thinning, without and with a 10-m buffe., and（3） thinning combine. with me.hanical introduction of some.portion of the.thinne. tre.s into the.stre.m（tre. tipping）. Compare. to no tre.tme.t, single.and double.e.try thinning on one.side.of a channe., without a 10-m buffe., re.uce.cumulative.instre.m wood volume.by 33 and 42 %, re.pe.tive.y, afte.100 ye.rs（include. de.ay）. Maintaining a 10-m buffe. re.uce. the.in-stre.m wood loss to 7 %（single.e.try thin）and 11 %（double.e.try）.
