Stability Indicating RP-UPLC Method for Assay of Emtricitabine and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate in Bulk and Dosage Forms

A simple, sensitive and rapid stability indicating reverse phase ultra performance liquid chromatography (RP-UPLC) method was developed and validated for the determination of Emtricitabine (EMT) and Tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) in pure and tablet dosage forms. The chromatographic separation was achieved by using Waters (Alliance) UPLC system equipped with auto-sampler and photo diode array detector. A volume of 5 μL of standard or test was injected into the column and the components were separated by using the mixture of 0.68% potassium dihydrogen orthophosphate buffer of pH = 6 and methanol in the ratio 45:55 v/v as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1.2 mL/min through BEH C18 (100 mm × 2.1, 1.8 μm) at ambient temperature and were detected at a wavelength of 261 nm. System suitable parameters such as plate count and tailing factor for EMT and TDF were found to be 2427 & 3685, 1.16 & 1.23 respectively, and resolution between EMT and TDF peaks was found to be 3.12. The chromatographic parameters like retention time, peak area and peak height of EMT and TDF were found to be 0.684 & 0.930, 694,200 & 8,778,000 and 272,881 & 3685 respectively. Percent of assay of EMT and TDF in bulk and dosage forms was determined and found to be 101.48 and 103.22 respectively. Study of degradation was examined and found that the drugs were stable under degradation conditions. The present method was developed keeping the principles of green chemistry by using eco-friendly solvent methanol in mobile phase. The developed method was found to be simple, rapid and applied for the analysis of Truvada;therefore the proposed method is recommended for the analysis of EMT and TDF in pure and tablet dosage forms in any quality control laboratories.

Optimized design of collector topology for offshore wind farm based on ant colony optimization with multiple travelling salesman problem

A layout of the offshore wind farm(OSWF)plays a vital role in its capital cost of installation. One of the major contributions in the installation cost is electrical collector system(ECS). ECS includes: submarine cables,number of wind turbines(WTs), offshore platforms etc. By considering the above mentioned problem having an optimized design of OSWF provides the better feasibility in terms of economic considerations. This paper explains the methodology for optimized designing of ECS. The proposed methodology is based on combined elitist ant colony optimization and multiple travelling salesman *** objective is to minimize the length of submarine cable connected between WTs and to minimize the wake loss in the wind farm in order to reduce the cost of cable and cable power loss. The methodology is applied on North Hoyle and Horns Rev OSWFs connected with 30 and 80 WTs respectively and the results are presented.

Risk estimation of chronic kidney disease in a leptospirosis endemic area: A case-control study from south Andaman Islands of India

Objective:To estimate the risk of chronic kidney disease in patients with ***:All reported(41890)and later confirmed leptospirosis(1990)cases from 2010-2020 were traced by universal sampling.386 Laboratory-confirmed leptospirosis cases were enrolled and 413 age,gender,area,and occupation matched healthy persons were included as *** including socio-demographic characteristics,medical history,and health-related behaviours were compared between the two groups and association between these variables and reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)was analyzed with multiple linear ***:The median of eGFR was 49.0(27.0,75.0)mL/min/1.73 m^(2) in the cases and 96.0(72.0,121.0)mL/min/1.73 m^(2) in the controls,showing significant differences(P<0.001).Bivariate analysis showed that leptospirosis seropositivitiy,repeat leptospirosis infection,diabetes,male gender,working in field(sun exposure),COVID-19 infection and smoking had statistically significant association with reduced *** seropositivity had negative effects on *** linear regression confirmed that leptospirosis seropositivity had negative effects on eGFR(unstandardised β coefficients=−30.86,95%CI−49.7 to−11.9,P<0.001).Conclusions:Chronic kidney disease is a complex disease with multiple risk factors *** to leptospirosis is one of the essential factors in accelerating its progression.

Development,characterization and solubility enhancement of comparative dissolution study of second generation of solid dispersions and microspheres for poorly water soluble drug

The poor dissolution characteristics of water-insoluble drugs are a major challenge for pharmaceutical *** of the particle size/increase in the surface area of the drug is a widely used and relatively simple method for increasing dissolution *** objective of this study was to improve solubility,release and comparability of dissolution of a poorly soluble drug using two different types of formulations(solid dispersions and microspheres).Hydrochlorothiazide was used as a model *** solid dispersions and microspheres were prepared by solvent evaporation method using ethyl cellulose,hydroxypropyl methylcellulose in different drug-to-carrier ratios(1:1,1:2 w:w).The prepared formulations were evaluated for interaction study by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,differential scanning calorimetry,percentage of practical yield,drug loading,surface morphology by scanning electron microscopy,optical microscopy and in-vitro release *** results showed no interaction between the drug and polymer,amorphous state of solid dispersions and microspheres,percentage yield of 42.53%to 78.10%,drug content of 99.60%to 99.64%,good spherical appearance in formulation VI and significant increase in the dissolution rate.

Model for mucus transport in the airways due to air motion： Effect of slipperiness

In this paper, a circular three-layer flow model is proposed to study mucus transport in the airways due to air motion caused by mild forced expiration or mild coughing. Mucus is represented by four-parameter viscoelastic fluid, a combination of Maxwell and Voigt elements, whereas air and serous fluid are taken as Newtonian fluids （incompressible）. The pressure gradient generated in the fluid layers is assumed to be given by a time- dependent function representing mild forced expiration or mild cough in the airways causing laminar flow. The effect of slip velocity at the mucus-serous interface caused by the presence of surfactant and at the top surface caused by immotile cilia are Mso taken into account. The roles of rheological properties of mucus on its transport are studied. The effect of serous fluid and its viscosity on mucus transport is also considered.

One Pot Reduction of Imines Generated in-situ from Aldehydes and Amines by the NaBH4-InCl3 System

A combination of sodium borohydride and a catalytic amount of indium（Ⅲ） chloride in acetonitrile reduces imines formed in-situ from aldehydes and amines to the corresponding functionalised secondary and tertiary amines in moderate to good yields. Noteworthy is that highly chemoselective reactions were achieved in the presence of other functional groups such as halogens, carbon-carbon double bonds and hydroxyl groups.

In vitro antiplasmodial activity of methanolic extracts from seaweeds of South West Coast of India

Objective:To identify the in vitro antiplasmodial activity of seaweed plants against Plasmodium falciparum ***:A total of eight seaweeds were collecled from Kanvakumari district,Tainilnadu,*** in vitro antiplasmodial activity was performed in 96 well plates against Plasmodium falciparum,and preliminary phytochemcial analysis were performed for the ***:Of the selected plants Enteromorpha intestinalis(2.61%) showed maximum percentage of *** minimum concentration of inhibitory(IC_(50)) value was observed with Chaetomorpha antennina[(26.37±4.14)μg/ml.]further,the positive controls such as chloroquine and artemether showed antiplasmodial activities(IC_(50)) with(19.10±5.93) and(6.03±0.21)μg/mL concentrations,*** preliminary phytochemical analysis of the seaweed extracts showed a variety of phytochemical constituents such as carboxylic acids,phenols,protein, resins,steroids and ***:The antiplasmodial activity of the seaweed extract might due to the presence of sugars and phenolic *** the present findings,it is concluded that,the seaweed extract of Chaetomorpha antennina can be further used as a putative antiplasmodial drugs in near future.
