Marine heatwaves(MHWs)caused by anthropogenic climate change are becoming a key driver of change at the ecosystem *** conditions experienced by marine organisms across their distribution,particularly towards the equator,are likely to approach their physiological limits,resulting in extensive mortality and subsequent changes at the population *** at the margins of their species’distribution are thought to be more sensitive to climate-induced environmental pressures than central populations,but our understanding of variability in fitness-related physiological traits in trailing versus leading-edge populations is *** a laboratory simulation study,we tested whether two leading(iceland)and two trailing(Spain)peripheral populations of the intertidal macroalga Corallina officinalis display different levels of maximum potential quantum efficiency(Fv/Fm)resilience to current and future winter MHWs *** study revealed that ongoing and future local winter MHWs will not negatively affect leading-edge populations of ***,which exhibited stable photosynthetic efficiency throughout the *** edge populations showed a positive though non-significant trend in photosynthetic efficiency throughout winter MHWs *** and equatorward populations did not produce significantly different results,with winter MHWs having no negative affect on Fv/Fm of either ***,we found no long-term regional or population-level influence of a winter MHWs on this species’photosynthetic ***,we found no statistically significant difference in thermal stress responses between leading and trailing ***,*** showed a trend towards higher stress responses in southern than northern *** responses rest on a variety of local population traits,they are difficult to predict based solely on thermal pressures.

A 2DeG charge density based drain current model for various Al and in molefraction mobility dependent nano-scale AlinGaN/AlN/GaN HeMT devices

We present a two-dimensional electron gas （2DeG） charge-control mobility variation based drain cur- rent model for sheet carrier density in the channel. The model was developed for the AiinGaN/A1N/GaN high- electron-mobility transistor. The sheet carrier density model used here accounts for the independence between the Fermi levels ef and ns along with mobility for various Ai and in molefractions. This physics based ns model fully depends upon the variation of el, u0, the first subband e0, the second subband el, and as. We present a physics based analytical drain current model using ns with the minimum set of parameters. The analytical resuks obtained are compared with the experimental results for four samples with various molefraction and barrier thickness. A good agreement between the results is obtained, thus validating the model.

Flicker and thermal noise in an n-channel underlap DG FinFeT in a weak inversion region

We propose an analytical model for drain current and inversion charge in the subthreshold region for an underlap DG FinFeT by using the minimum channel potential method, i.e., the virtual source. The flicker and thermal noise spectral density models are also developed using these charge and current models expression. The model is validated with already published experimental results of flicker noise for DG FinFeTs. For an ultrathin body, the degradation of effective mobility and variation of the scattering parameter are considered. The effect of device parameters like gate length Lg and underlap length Lun on both flicker and thermal noise spectral densities are also analyzed. increasing Lg and Lun, increases the effective gate length, which reduces drain current, resulting in decreased flicker and thermal noise density. A decrease of flicker noise is observed for an increase of frequency, which indicates that the device can be used for wide range of frequency applications.

Cysteine peptidase and its inhibitor activity levels and vitamin e concentration in normal human serum and colorectal carcinomas

AiM: Cysteine peptidase (CP) and its inhibitor (CPi) are a matrix protease that may be associated with colorectal carcinoma invasion and progression, and vitamin e is also a stimulator of the immunological system. Our purpose was to determine the correlation between the expression of cysteine peptidases and their endogenous inhibitors,and the level of vitamin e in sera of patients with colorectal cancer in comparison with healthy ***: The levels of cysteine peptidases and their inhibitors were determined in the sera of patients with primary and metastatic colorectal carcinoma and healthy individuals using fluorogenic substrate, and the level of vitamin e was determined by ***: The levels of cysteine peptidases and their inhibitors were significantly higher in the metastatic colorectal cancer patients than that in the healthy controls (P＜0.05).The activity of CP increased 2.2-fold, CPi 2.8-fold and vitamin e decreased 3.4-fold in sera of patients with metastasis in comparison with controls. The level of vitamin e in healthy individuals was higher, whereas the activity of cysteine peptidases and their inhibitors associated with complexes was lower than that in patients with cancer of the digestive ***: These results suggest that the serum levels of CP and their inhibitors could be an indicator of the prognosis for patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. Vitamin e can be administered prophylactically to prevent digestive tract neoplasmas.

The article highlights a new method for the fabrication of an ocular prosthesis by the incorporation of a ceramic scleral veneer. The steps of fabrication include impression making, wax try-in, performing a “cut-back” on a selected stock eye, insertion of the iPS e-max press scleral veneer, finishing and insertion. it also includes a detailed review on non-integrated ocular prostheses.

Dispersal Patterns of the Late Cretaceous to early-Tertiary Sediments in the Southern Anambra Basin, Southeastern Nigeria

The dispersal patterns of the Late Cretaceous to early Tertiary sediments in southern Anambra Basin were studied to delineate spatial facies distributions for improved mapping and hydrocarbon prospectivity. Seven lithofacies distinguished from eleven outcrop sections aided the interpretation of depositional environments for the different depositional units. interpreted paleoenvironments ranged from estuarine/lagoonal to tidal delta and shallow marine depositional environments. Sequence stratigraphic interpretation of the deposits using vertical relationships between the delineated facies and foraminiferal and palynofacies assemblages and the interpreted environmental setting identified two complete sequences (SeQ-1 and -2) and two incomplete sequences (SeQ-3 and -4) in the study area. The sequiences are enveloped by three Type-1 Sequence Boundaries (SB), two Transgressive Surfaces of erosion (TSe) and four Maximum Flooding Surfaces (MFS). The identified surfaces were used to delineate formation boundaries and as such would assist in the improved mapping of the Anambra Basin and adjoining depocenters. The massive sand units of the Highstand and Transgressive Systems Tracts constitute good (potential) reservoirs, while the transgressive shales would constitute seals for potential traps in the study area. The delineation of these petroleum system elements, especially those associated with the Transgressive and Highstand Systems Tracts has conferred great hydrocarbon prospectivity potential on the sedimentary sequences in the Basin. The absence of deep marine and slope complexes of the Lowstand Systems Tract (LST) in the interpreted sequences is indicative that the study area is the up-dip section of the Anambra Basin.
