Chaos game representation of functional protein sequences,and simulation and multifractal analysis of induced measures

Investigating the biological function of proteins is a key aspect of protein studies. Bioinformatic methods become important for studying the biological function of proteins. In this paper, we first give the chaos game representation （CGR） of randomly-linked functional protein sequences, then propose the use of the recurrent iterated function systems （RIFS） in fractal theory to simulate the measure based on their chaos game representations. This method helps to extract some features of functional protein sequences, and furthermore the biological functions of these proteins. Then multifractal analysis of the measures based on the CGRs of randomly-linked functional protein sequences are performed. We find that the CGRs have clear fractal patterns. The numerical results show that the RIFS can simulate the measure based on the CGR very well. The relative standard error and the estimated probability matrix in the RIFS do not depend on the order to link the functional protein sequences. The estimated probability matrices in the RIFS with different biological functions are evidently different. Hence the estimated probability matrices in the RIFS can be used to characterise the difference among linked functional protein sequences with different biological functions. From the values of the Dq curves, one sees that these functional protein sequences are not completely random. The Dq of all linked functional proteins studied are multifractal-like and sufficiently smooth for the Cq （analogous to specific heat） curves to be meaningful. Furthermore, the Dq curves of the measure μ based on their CCRs for different orders to link the functional protein sequences are almost identical if q 〉 0. Finally, the ca curves of all linked functional proteins resemble a classical phase transition at a critical point.

Bronchoscopic management of persistent air leaks

Air leaks can occur as a complication of thoracic surgery,bronchoscopic procedures,or from barotrauma due to mechanical ventilation.Persistent air leaks defined as air leaks that last longer than 5–7 days are often associated with prolonged hospital stay,higher rates of intensive care unit admission,and a significant source of morbidity and mortality.Surgical repair of persistent air leaks via thoracotomy or videoassisted thorascopic surgery generally has excellent success.However,for patients with severe hypoxemia,poor functional status,or significant comorbidities,surgical repair may not be feasible.The use of bronchoscopic interventions such as the delivery of coils,covered airway stents,endobronchial valves,biological sealants,and other devices to safely and effectively manage persistent air leaks has been widely reported in recent years.Bronchoscopic intervention of persistent air leak has a reported success rate of closure ranging from 30–80%depending on the underlying disease,location,and size of the pleural fistula.It is an excellent option for patients with persistent air leak who are critically ill and are poor surgical candidates.Advantages of using endobronchial devices include quick recovery time,relatively low risk,reduction in hospital stay,and the potential for immediate symptom relief.Here,we review the data regarding the use of bronchoscopic techniques in the management of persistent air leak.

Chemical properties during different development stages of fruit orchards in the mekong delta (Vietnam)

This study to examine soil fertility status was conducted on 10 citrus plantations in Hau Giang province within the Vietnamese Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Fruit trees are mostly grown on the raised beds to avoid annual flood with alluvial soil type. Soil sampling was done in the dry season of 2010 at two soil depths, for each raised bed. Development ages of raised beds were represented by two groups, young age group (≤ 30 years) and old age group (> 30 years). For chemical analysis, pH, organic matter, CEC, total nitrogen, NH4+, NO3– and exchangeable ca, Mg and K were determined. The results showed that the pH (water) was strongly acid. The CEC was in average 19.2 cmol+.kg–1 in topsoil (0 - 20 cm depth) and 18.7 cmol+.kg–1 in subsoil (20 - 50 cm depth) for young age group. Similarly, the CEC was 16.7 cmol+.kg–1 in topsoil and 15.8 cmol+.kg–1 in subsoil for old age group. Organic matter on young age group (7.38 and 5.47% on average for topsoil and subsoil respectively) was significantly higher than that of old age group (5.20 and 3.81% on average for topsoil and subsoil respectively). Total nitrogen was not significantly different between the sites for the age groups of raised as well as the soil layers. Ammonium-N levels were excessive, and NO3--N levels were high. Potassium and Mg2+ were significantly different between age groups of raised beds and the same pattern between soil layers, while ca2+ did not vary significantly. Potassium and ca2+ levels were moderate, Mg2+ was high and P levels were very high. Soil fertility in the raised beds subjected to an adverse on plant growth and an imbalance in soil nutrients under low pH conditions. Loss of soil quality was exhibited in reduced organic matter with the aging of raised beds.

具有高储氢容量和可逆储氢性能的新材料的开发对氢能的大规模利用至关重要。基于第一性原理计算,研究了Li原子和ca原子单独修饰和共修饰vo_(2)单层体系的H 2分子存储性能。结果表明Li原子和ca原子均能稳定结合在vo_(2)单层表面而不产生金属团簇。单个Li原子和ca原子分别最多可稳定吸附3个和6个H 2分子,且H 2分子平均吸附能均大于0.20 eV/H 2。吸附体系差分电荷和态密度分析结果表明,氢分子的极化机制以及氢分子与金属原子间的轨道杂化作用是H 2分子在金属原子周围稳定吸附的主要原因。Li原子修饰体系的储氢质量密度随着Li原子覆盖度的增加而逐渐增加,而ca原子修饰体系的储氢质量密度在低金属覆盖度时较高;Li/ca共修饰体系的储氢质量密度有所增加,其储氢质量密度为5.00%(质量分数)。此外,考虑了不同温度和压强条件下储氢体系的稳定性。

In this work, the vibration characteristics of a piezoelectric ceramic disk with different dimensional ratio are studied by simulation method. Computational finite element modeling combined with the computational programs has allowed for the prediction of the effect, the change of diameter-to-thickness ratio on the resonant characteristics, the vibration modes as well as comparing the physic properties of piezoceramics. Three types of piezoelectric materials were chosen, piezoelectric materials (PZT) and Pb-free piezoelectric materials Ba(Zr0.2Ti0.8)O3-50(Ba0.7ca0.3)TiO3(BZT-50BCT), BaTiO3 for research.

Our understanding of immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 and variants of concern(voCs)has been primarily acquired through analysis of Spike-specific IgG responses.However,a more comprehensive understanding of the breadth and longevity of immune responses after infection and vaccination requires analysis of cellular immunity.Herein,we report on T cell immunity in infected and vaccinated individuals,identifying CD4+/CD8+T cell cytokine responses to SARS-CoV-2 and variant peptides(Alpha,B.1.1.7 and Delta,B.1.617.2).

ca对氧化铝晶界处氧空位扩散的活化机理

通过第一性原理方法计算了α-Al2O3的∑3(1010)晶界处ca偏析对时氧空位(oxygen vacancy,vo)形成能和扩散势垒的影响。ca偏析到晶界处的稳定位置后,ca附近vo的形成能为3.05〜4.04 eV,比没有掺杂的晶界处vo的形成能降低了2.5 eV以上;ca附近vo扩散的活化能为2.30 eV,与没有掺杂的晶界相比,降低达1.8 eV.随着晶界处ca浓度的升高,晶界附近的晶格发生明显膨胀,电荷平衡进一步被打破,vo的形成能降低至-1.43 eV,扩散的活化能进一步降低至1.27 eV。ca掺杂对α-Al2O3晶界有活化的作用,促进晶界处的vo的形成和扩散。

目的通过观察电针督脉及情感区对血管性痴呆(vascular dementia,VD)大鼠学习记忆能力及海马区细胞形态、肿瘤坏死因子-α(tumor necrosis factor-α,TNF-α)及转化生长因子-β(transforming growth factor-β,TGF-β)的影响,探讨该疗法治疗VD的作用机制。方法随机选取24只雄性SD大鼠进行Morris水迷宫测试,通过测试后,按随机数字表法将24只大鼠分为空白组、模型组、假手术组及治疗组,每组6只。其中空白组单纯喂养不行其他处置,模型组及治疗组予双侧颈总动脉永久性结扎(2-vo阻断法)制备模型,假手术组仅暴露颈动脉三角区,并将颈总动脉及迷走神经分离后缝合。于第7日(模型及治疗组侧支循环形成)行Morris水迷宫检测,确定造模成功,第8日进行治疗,治疗组予电针“百会”“风府”“大椎”及“情感区”干预,每次30 min,共治疗2周,其余3组常规饲养2周。治疗后再次对4组大鼠进行Morris水迷宫进行行为学检测,将脑组织取材后行HE染色、免疫组化检测,取大鼠腹主动脉血行ELISA检测,观察大鼠海马组织细胞形态,TNF-α、TGF-β数量的变化及血清中TNF-α、TGF-β含量的表达。结果模型组大鼠与假手术组比较,逃避潜伏期以及游泳路程延长(Pca1区细胞形态较为均匀,排列较规则,水肿程度减轻,海马体内TNF-α阳性细胞数增多且含量增多,TGF-β阳性细胞数减少且含量降低;治疗组大鼠与模型组比较,逃避潜伏期以及游泳路程缩短(Pca1区神经元结构相对清晰完整,形态较为规则,排列相对均匀,细胞间质水肿程度低,海马体内TNF-α阳性细胞数减少且含量降低,TGF-β阳性细胞数增加且含量升高。结论电针督脉及情感区能有效改善VD大鼠学习记忆能力,其机制可能与减轻炎症反应相关,但有待进一步研究。

Mobilization of Arsenic in Groundwater in the Southern Hanoi City (Vietnam) as Studied by Isotopic and Related Techniques

Sixteen samples of surface and groundwater from the most southern part of the Hanoi city (Vietnam) has been taken and analyzed for the soluble major ions, namely Na+, K+, , ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, , and arsenic as well as molybdenum content along with isotopic composition of deuterium and oxygen (δ2H and δ18O), tritium activity, and δ13C in DIC. The stable isotopic composition of groundwater indicates the water in that area is recharged from the local meteoric and theRed River’s water sources. The mean residence time of the groundwater should be before 60-ies of the past century as its 3H activity ranged from LOD of the analytical technique (0.4 TU) to 2.1 TU only implying that As would not be related to its recent application. The concentrations of As in the water samples is weakly correlated with those of Fe2+ (R2 = 0.08) but it strongly did with the concentrations of bicarbonate (R2 = 0.80). Thus, bicarbonate seems to liberate As adsorbed on hydrous ferric oxides (Hfo) into water through the displacement mechanism. The surface adsorption-desorption of As could be proven by a strong correlation between As and Mo concentrations (R2 = 0.77). The bicarbonate formation in groundwater was thought to be, partly, due to the bio-mineralization of natural organic matter (NOM) by bacteria followed by the dissolution of calcite and/or dolomite present in the sediments. Evidence for the NOM bio-mineralization was found in the close relationship between δ13C and the concentration of bicarbonate in water. Therefore, the mobilization of As in groundwater of bicarbonate type in the southern part of Hanoi city seems to be not only due to the reductive dissolution of the Hfo but the bicarbonate displacement also should be considered.

目的:探讨静脉-动脉血二氧化碳分压差与动脉-静脉血氧含量差比值(Pv-aCO_(2)/ca.vo_(2))对儿童原发性腹膜炎相关脓毒性休克预后的预测价值。方法:采用回顾性研究,选取2016年12月至2021年12月西安交通大学附属儿童医院重症医学科收治的63例腹膜炎相关脓毒性休克患儿作为研究对象。以28 d全因病死率为主要终点事件,根据预后将患儿分为生存组及死亡组,统计两组基线资料及血气分析、血常规、凝血、炎症状态、危重评分等相关临床数据。对影响预后的因素进行多因素Logistic回归分析,并通过受试者工作特征曲线(ROC曲线)对危险因素的预测性进行检验。根据各危险因素的截断值进行分层,通过Kaplan-Meier生存曲线分析比较各组预后差异。结果:共纳入63例患儿,男性30例,女性33例;年龄(5.6±4.0)岁;28 d死亡16例,病死率为25.4%。生存者与死亡组间性别、年龄、体重及病原菌分布差异无统计学意义。死亡组机械通气比例、外科干预比例、血管活性药物应用比例、前降钙素原、C-反应蛋白、活化部分凝血活酶时间、血乳酸(Lac)、Pv-aCO_(2)/ca.vo_(2)、儿童序贯器官衰竭评分、儿科危重症死亡危险评分Ⅲ均较存活组明显升高,血小板计数、纤维蛋白原、平均动脉压较生存组明显降低,差异均具有统计学意义。通过多因素Logistic回归分析筛选出Lac及Pv-aCO_(2)/ca.vo_(2)为影响患儿预后的独立危险因素〔优势比(OR)和95%可信区间(95%CI)分别为2.01(1.15~3.21)、2.37(1.41~3.22),均Pca.vo_(2)及二者联合的曲线下面积(AUC)分别为0.745、0.876和0.923,敏感度分别为75%、85%和88%,特异度分别为71%、87%和91%。根据各危险因素的截断值分层,Kaplan-Meier生存曲线分析显示,Lac≥4 mmol/L组28 d累积生存率低于Lacca.vo_(2)≥1.6组28 d累积生存率低于Pv-aCO_(2)/ca.vo_(2)ca.vo_(2)≥1.6且Lac≥4 mmol/L组28 d累积生存率明显低于其他3组(Log-rank检验:χ2=7.910,P=0.017)。结论:早期Pv-aCO_(2)/ca.vo_(2)联合Lac对原发性腹膜炎相关脓毒性休克患儿的预后具有良好的预测价值。
