BACKGROUND Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome(IC/BpS)is an at least 6-mo noninfectious bladder inflammation of unknown origin characterized by chronic suprapubic,abdominal,and/or pelvic *** the term cystitis suggests an inflammatory or infectious origin,no definite cause has been *** occurs in both sexes,but women are twice as much *** To systematically review evidence of psychiatric/psychological changes in persons with IC/*** Hypothesizing that particular psychological characteristics could underpin IC/BpS,we investigated in three databases the presence of psychiatric symptoms and/or disorders and/or psychological characteristics in patients with IC/BpS using the following strategy:("interstitial cystitis"OR"bladder pain syndrome")AND("mood disorder"OR depressive OR antidepressant OR depression OR depressed OR hyperthymic OR mania OR manic OR rapid cyclasterisk OR dysthymiasterisk OR dysphoriasterisk).RESULTS On September 27,2023,the pubMed search produced 223 articles,CINAHL 62,and the combined psycLIT/psycARTICLES/psycINFO/psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection search *** on *** produced 14 studies,of which none had available *** were peer-reviewed articles reporting psychiatric/psychological symptoms in patients with IC/BpS,i.e.63 articles spanning from 2000 to October *** studies identified depression and anxiety problems in the IC/BpS population,along with sleep problems and the tendency to *** psychotherapies targeting catastrophizing and life stress emotional awareness and expression reduced perceived pain in women with IC/*** concepts should be considered when implementing treatments aimed at reducing IC/BpS-related pain.

In a number of animal species,individuals differ in their ability to solve cognitive ***,the mechanisms underlying this variability remain *** has been proposed that individual differences in cognition may be related to individual differences in behavior(i.e.,personality);a hypothesis that has received mixed *** this study,we investigated whether personality correlates with the cognitive ability that allows inhibiting behavior in 2 teleost fish species,the zebrafish Danio rerio and the guppy poecilia *** both species,individuals that were bolder in a standard personality assay,the open-field test,showed greater inhibitory abilities in the tube task,which required them to inhibit foraging behavior toward live prey sealed into a transparent *** finding reveals a relationship between boldness and inhibitory abilities in fish and lends support to the hypothesis of a link between personality and ***,this study suggests that species separated by a relatively large phylogenetic distance may show the same link between personality and cognition,when tested on the same tasks.

Understanding the quantum dynamics of spin defects and their coherence properties requires an accurate modeling of spinspin interaction in solids and molecules,for example by using spin Hamiltonians with parameters obtained from first principles *** present a real-space approach based on density functional theory for the calculation of spin-Hamiltonian parameters,where only selected atoms are treated at the all-electron level,while the rest of the system is described with the pseudopotential *** approach permits calculations for systems containing more than 1000 atoms,as demonstrated for defects in diamond and silicon *** show that only a small number of atoms surrounding the defect needs to be treated at the all-electron level,in order to obtain an overall all-electron accuracy for hyperfine and zero-field splitting *** also present results for coherence times,computed with the cluster correlation expansion method,highlighting the importance of accurate spin-Hamiltonian parameters for quantitative predictions of spin dynamics.

Stimulation of the vagus nerve has been previously reported to promote neural plasticity and neurogenesis in the brain. Several studies also revealed plastic changes in the spinal cord after injuries to somatosensory nerves originating from both the brachial and lumbo-sacral plexuses. However, the neurogenic responses of the brain to the injury of the viscerosensory innervation are not as yet well understood. In the present study, we investigated whether cells in the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus respond to a chemical and physical damage to the vagus nerve in the adult rat. Intraperitoneal capsaicin administration was used to damage non-myelinated vagal afferents while subdiaphragmatic vagotomy was used to damage both the myelinated and non-myelinated vagal afferents. The 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine （BrdU） incorporation together with cell-specific markers was used to study neural proliferation in subgranular zone, granule cell layer, molecular layer and hilus of the dentate gyrus. Microglia activation was determined by quantifying changes in the intensity of fluorescent staining with a primary antibody against ionizing calcium adapter-binding molecule 1. Results revealed that vagotomy decreased BrdU incorporation in the hilus 15 days after injury compared to the capsaicin group. Capsaicin administration decreased BrdU incorporation in the granular cell layer 60 days after the treatment. Capsaicin decreased the number of doublecortin-expressing cells in the dentate gyrus, whereas vagotomy did not alter the expression of doublecortin in the hippocampus. Both the capsaicin- and the vagotomy-induced damage to the vagus nerve decreased microglia activation in the hippocampus at 15 days after the injury. At 30 days post injury, capsaicin-treated and vagotomized rats revealed significantly more activated microglia. Diabetes mellitus(DM),the 10th leading cause of death worldwide,is a major and growing public health problem estimated to affect more than 578 million people in 2030 and 700 million people in 2045[1].In diabetic animals,protein glycation and glucose autoxidation generate free radicals,which cause lipid ***,reactive oxygen species(ROS)can quickly accumulate,decrease antioxidant activity,and cause deterioration of kidney and liver function.A disrupted redox balance in cells also damages crucial biomolecules such as deoxyribonucleic acid(DNA),proteins and *** stress(OS)is elevated in diabetes mellitus and may be a major factor in the development and evolution of the typical long-term pathophysiology of diabetes and its associated complications[2].

The business judgment rule （B JR） is a U.S. corporate law concept that has gained international recognition. It has been moulded, particularly in the definition of the Delaware courts, to protect the managerial business discretion, in other words to protect directors＂ decisions from judicial review. Corporate social responsibility （CSR） questions the relationship between corporation with a business purpose and society. More and more attention is drawn to the various impacts of corporate decisions on society, asking for the necessity for directors to take these impacts into consideration when making business decisions. At the centre of CSR and the BJR are the fiduciary duties of the directors --the duty of diligence and the duty of care --and the question as to if the directors have breached their duties and if they have fulfilled them in a CSR compatible manner. This paper discusses how the B JR helps promoting CSR by discussing the advantages and disadvantages （real or apparenO of the B JR with respect to CSR.
