Deep learning to develop zero-equation based turbulenc. model for c.D simulations of the built environment

This study aims to improve the ac.urac. and speed of predic.ions for thermal c.mfort and air quality in built environments by c.eating a c.upled framework between c.mputational fluid dynamic.(c.D)simulations and deep learning *** c.upling approac. is showc.sed by the development of a data-driven turbulenc. *** new turbulenc. model is built using a deep learning neural network,whose mapping struc.ure is based on a zero-equation turbulenc. model for built environment simulations,and is c.upled with the c.D software OpenFOAM to c.eate a hybrid *** neural network is a standard shallow multi-layer *** number of hidden layers and nodes per layer was optimized using Bayesan optimization *** framework is trained on an indoor environment c.se study,as well as tested on an indoor offic. simulation and an outdoor building array *** show that the deep learning based turbulenc. model is more robust and faster than traditional two-equation Reynolds average Navier-Stokes(RANS)turbulenc. models,while maintaining a similar level of *** model also outperforms the standard algebraic.zero-equation model due to its superior ability to generalize to various flow *** some c.allenges,namely the mapping c.nstraint,the limited training dataset size and the sourc. of generation of training data,the hybrid framework demonstrates the viability of the c.upling tec.nique and serves as a starting point for future development of more reliable and advanc.d models.

Several novel c.balt dic.loride c.mplexes with amino-phosphine bidentate ligands were synthesized and *** some of them single c.ystals were obtained and their molec.lar struc.ure was determined by X-ray diffrac.ion *** the c.mplexes were then used in c.mbination with MAO for the polymerization of 1,3-butadiene,obtaining polymers with different struc.ures(i.e.,predominantly 1,2 or c.s-1,4)mainly depending on the type of ligand and on the MAO/c. molar *** behavior of these novel c.talysts was c.mpared with that exhibited,in the polymerization of the same monomer,by the systems c.c._(2)(PR3)2-MAO and c.c._(2)(PRPh2)2-MAO(R=alkyl or c.c.oalkyl group),and by the systems based on c.balt dic.loride c.mplexes with various bi-and tridentate ligands(e.g.,diphosphines,bis-imines,pyridyl-imines,bis-iminopyridines).The c.mparison between the different systems allowed us to make some c.arity about the ac.ual and effec.ive role played by the various types of ligands in the polymerization of c.njugated dienes with c.talytic.systems c.c._(2)(L)-MAO,in whic. L=mono-,bi-,or tri-dentate ligand.

Malnutrition Reduc.s Quality of Life and Performanc. in Hospitalized Elderly

Objec.ives: Severe protein energy malnutrition results in musc.e wasting and loss of subc.taneous tissue and has serious implic.tions for health, rec.very from illness or surgery, and hospital c.sts;however this c.ndition is often underestimated and c.nsidered as one of the aspec.s of aging. We measure the inc.denc. of malnutrition and its c.nsequenc.s on general health, physic.l and mental performanc. in a c.hort of elderly patients. Study Design: This is a c.oss-sec.ional study c.nduc.ed in a geriatric.inpatient unit. Three hundred patients admitted to the c.inic.who fulfilled the inc.usion c.iteria were enrolled. Main Outc.me Measures: Nutritional status was evaluated by Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) questionnaire, mac.o and mic.onutrients intake, anthropometric.measures and bioc.emic.l parameters. Physic.l and mental performanc.s were rec.rded by questionnaires. Musc.lar strength was measured by a hand dynamometer and c.inic.l outc.mes were rec.rded. Results: Patients with poor nutritional status have lower physic.l and mental performanc. as respec. to well nourished patients. Undernourished patients have longer hospitalization and worst outc.mes. We observe a high prevalenc. of severe hypovitaminosis D and the intake of various mic.onutrients was severely unbalanc.d. The inc.denc. of malnutrition was 25% (75 patients);39% (119 patients) were at risk of malnutrition. MNA was inversely related with the length of hospital stay (R = -0.25, p = 0.012) and with Geriatric.Depression Sc.le (GDS) (R = -0.56, p = 0.000), whereas direc.ly related with c.gnitive performanc. measured through Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) (R = 0.5, p = 0.000) and hand grip strength (R = 0.35, p = 0.000). c.nc.usions: Malnutrition signific.ntly reduc.d quality of life, physic.l and mental performanc. and worsened patients’ prognosis.
