Hox and ParaHox genes constitute two families of developmental regulators that pattern the Anterior-Posterior body axis in all bilaterians. The members of these two groups of genes are usually arranged in genomic clusters and work in a coordinated fashion, both in space and in time. While the mechanistic aspects of their action are relatively well known, it is still unclear how these systems evolved. For instance, we still need a proper model of how the Hox and ParaHox clusters were assembled over time. This problem is due to the shortage of information on gene complements for many taxa （mainly basal metazoans） and the lack of a consensus phylogenetic model of animal relationships to which we can relate our new findings. Recently, several studies have shown that the Acoelomorpha most probably represent the first offshoot of the Bilateria. This finding has prompted us, and others, to study the Hox and ParaHox complements in these animals, as well as their activity during development. In this review, we analyze how the current knowledge of Hox and ParaHox genes in the Acoelomorpha is shaping our view of bilaterian evolution.

Lifespan is one of the main components of life *** lifespans can be expected in marginal ***,in the case of ectotherms,lifespan typically increases with altitude,even though temperature-one of the main factors to determine ectotherms'life history-declines with *** pattern can be explained by the fact that a shorter activity time favors *** this study,we analyzed how lifespan and other life-history traits of the lizard Psammodromus algirus vary along a 2,200 m elevational gradient in sierra Nevada(sE spain).Populations at inter-mediate altitudes(1,200-1,700 m),corresponding to the optimal habitat for this species,had the shortest lifespans,whereas populations inhabiting marginal habitats(at both low and at high altitudes)lived ***,this lizard did not follow the typical pattern of ectotherms,as it also lived longer at the lower limit of its distribution,nor did it show a longer lifespan in areas with optimal *** results might be explained by a complex combination of different gradients along the mountain,namely that activity time decreases with altitude whereas food availability *** could explain why lifespan was maximum at both high(limited activity time)and low(limited food availability)altitudes,resulting in similar lifespans in areas with contrasting environmental *** findings also indicated that reproductive investment and body condition increase with elevation,suggesting that alpine populations are locally adapted.

The steam reforming of glycerol has been studied at 500 and 600 oC using Co/sBA-15 and Co/M/sBA-15（M: Zr, Ce, or La） promoted catalysts. The prepared materials were characterized by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy（ICP-AEs）, X-ray powder diffraction（XRD）, hydrogen temperatureprogramed reduction（H;-TPR）, ammonia temperature-programed desorption（NH;-TPD）, nitrogen physisorption analysis（N;-BET）, transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and thermogravimetric analysis（TGA）. The incorporation of promoters like Zr, Ce and La on sBA-15 support and successive Co impregnation leaded to smaller cobalt crystallites improving metaldispersion. Besides, stronger metal-support interactions between Co species and M/sBA-15 supports were observed. Thanks to the incorporation of Zr, La and mainly Ce, promoted catalysts present higher glycerol conversion than Co/sBA-15 along 5 h of time on stream. Besides, at 600 oC, Co/M/sBA-15（M: Zr, Ce, or La） catalysts produce higher hydrogen amounts than Co/sBA-15.

Understanding the rate of snowmelt helps inform how water stored as snow will transform into streamflow. Data from 87 snow telemetry （sNOTEL） stations across the southern Rocky Mountains were used to estimate spatio-temporal melt factors. Decreases in snow water equivalent were correlated to temperature at these monitoring stations for eight half-month periods from early March through late June. Time explained 70% of the variance in the computed snow melt factors. A residual linear correlation model was used to explain subsequent spatial variability. Longitude, slope, and land cover type explained further variance. For evergreen trees, canopy density was relevant to find enhanced melt rates; while for all other land cover types, denoted as non- evergreen, lower melt rates were found at high elevation, high latitude and north facing slopes, denoting that in cold environments melting is less effective than in milder sites. A change in the temperature sensor about mid-way through the time series （1990 to 2013） created a discontinuity in the temperature dataset. An adjustment to the time series yield larger computed melt factors.

Forest managers and policy makers increasingly demand to have access to estimates of forest fragmentation, human accessibility to forest areas and levels of anthropogenic pressure on the remaining forests to integrate them into monitoring systems, management and conservation plans. Forest fragmentation is defined as the breaking up of a forest unit, where the number of patches and the amount of expose edge increase while the amount of core area decreases. Forest fragmentation studies in Mexico have been limited to local or regional levels and have concen- trated only on specific forest types. This paper presents an assessment of the fragmentation of all forest types at the national level, their effective proximity to anthropogenic influences, and the development of an indica- tor of anthropogenic pressure on the forests areas. Broadleaf forests, tropical evergreen forests and tropical dry deciduous forests show the greatest fragmentation. Almost half （47%） of the tropical forests are in close effective proximity to anthropogenic influences and only 12% of their area can be considered isolated from anthropogenic influences. The values for the temperate forests are 23% and 29% respectively. Anthro- pogenic pressure in the immediate vicinity of anthropogenic activities is much higher in the tropical forests （75 in a scale 0-100） than in the tem- perate forests （30）. When considering these results jointly, the tropical forests, and more specifically, the tropical evergreen forests and tropical dry deciduous forests are under the greatest pressure and risks of degra- dation.
