BACKGROUND The presence of dens invaginatus(DI)complicates treatment of any tooth,from diagnosis to access cavity and biomechanical preparation and *** of successful non-surgical management of DI type IIIB in maxillary lateral incisor are ***,we report such a case,with three root canals and a long *** SUmmARY A 13-year-old female patient presented with mild pain in the maxillary right lateral incisor(#7)for 10-15 *** examination,the tooth was slightly rotated,with slight tenderness on percussion and grade I mobility but with no caries,pockets or restorations and non-vital pulp(via vitality tests).Radiographic examination revealed unusual configuration of the tooth’s root canals,with an enamel-lined invagination extending to the apex,suggesting the possibility of DI Oehler’s type IIIB and a periapical *** the access cavity lingually revealed one distinct buccal orifice and two distinct palatal orifices;under higher magnification of a dental operating microscope(DOm),the mesio palatal and disto-palatal orifices were observed as connected by a C-shaped *** root canals were prepared with hand K-files following a step-back technique,and obturated using a combination technique of lateral condensation and vertical *** the 6-year follow-up,the patient was asymptomatic,and the periapical radiography displayed significant healing around the apical end of the *** Proper knowledge of unusual root canal anatomy is required in treating *** methods of root canal treatment can successfully resolve such complex cases,facilitated by DOm and cone-beam computed tomography.

In the defense-in-depth concept employed for the safety of nuclear installations,maintaining integrity of containment as the last barrier is of high importance to limit the release of radioactivity to the environment in case of a severe *** active and passive safety systems implemented in containments of light water reactors(LWRs)are designed to limit the consequences of such *** the performance and reliability of such systems under accident conditions is critical to the safety of nuclear *** the aftermath of the Fukushima accident,there has been focus on re-examining the existing safety systems to demonstrate their capabilities for a broader range of boundary conditions comprising both the early as well as the late phases of an *** addition to the performance testing of safety systems,their interaction with containment atmosphere needs detailed investigations to evaluate the effects of operation of safety systems on H2 risk and fission product(FP)behavior in containment,which may ultimately have an impact on the source term to the *** this context,an extensive containment safety related experimental research has been conducted in a thermalhydraulics,hydrogen,aerosols,and iodine test facility(THAI,60 m3,single vessel)/(THAI+,80 m3,two interconnected vessels).Related to the subject of this paper,experimental investigations covered performance testing of various safety and mitigation systems,i.e.,containment spray,passive autocatalytic recombiner(PAR),pressure suppression pool(water pools),and effects of their operation on H2 risk and in-containment FP *** experimental results have provided a better phenomenological understanding and database for validation and further improvement of a safety analysis tool based on computation fluid dynamic(CFD)and lumped parameter(LP)modeling *** paper summarizes the main insights obtained from the aforesaid THAI experimental research covering safety systems

Various 2-arylbenzimidazoles were synthesized from o-phenylenediamine and aldehydes via one-step process using DmP （Dess-martin-periodinane） reagent as an oxidant. A highly efficient three-component reaction has been developed for the synthesis of thiazolidinones involving the reaction of 2-amino-l-phenylethanone hydrochloride with an aromatic aldehyde and mercaptoacetic acid in the presence of diisopropylethylamine in a single ***,this reaction exhibited excellent chemoselectivity,with the nitrogen atom of the 2-amino-l-phenylethanone component reacting selectively with the aromatic aldehyde to give the corresponding Schiff *** attack at the carbon of the Schiff base by the sulfur atom of mercaptoacetic,followed by a cyclocondensation reaction between the nitrogen and the carboxylic acid moiety afforded the desired thiazolidinones,which were fully characterized by spectroscopic techniques.

microstructure and mechanical properties of AZ91 magnesium alloy subject to deep cryogenic treatments

AZ91 magnesium alloy was subjected to a deep cryogenic treatment. X-ray diffraction （XRD）, scanning electronic microscopy （SEm）, and transmission electronic microscopy （TEm） methods were utilized to characterize the composition and microstructure of the treated samples. The results show that after two cryogenic treatments, the quantity of the precipitate hardening β phase increases, and the sizes of the precipitates are refined from 8-10μm to 2-4μm. This is expected to be due to the decreased solubility of aluminum in the matrix at low temperature and the significant plastic deformation owing to internal differences in thermal contraction between phases and grains. The polycrystalline matrix is also noticeably refined, with the sizes of the subsequent nanocrystalline grains in the range of 50-100 nm. High density dislocations are observed to pile up at the grain boundaries, inducing the dynamic recrystallization of the microstructure, leading to the generation of a nanocrystalline grain structure. After two deep cryogenic treatments, the tensile strength and elongation are found to be substantially increased, rising from 243 mPa and 4.4% of as-cast state to 299 mPa and 5.1%.

Development of an inflatable solar dryer for improved postharvest handling of paddy rice in humid climates

Rice is the staple food for more than three billion people *** considerable progress has been made with respect to improved breeds and production practices,losses during postharvest handling remain *** and storage of paddy are two key stages where management can be *** rice,grain moisture content of 14%prevents microbiological activity,while a level of about 12%minimizes quality losses over prolonged storage *** to the need for simple and economical technologies,an inflatable solar dryer(ISD)was developed based on adaptations of the Hohenheim-type solar tunnel *** form a drying tunnel,transparent polyethylene(PE)film attaches by zipper to a reinforced black polyvinyl chloride(PVC)*** reduce heat loss,a flexible multilayer floor was used along the drying *** tunnel does not need a substructure as it is stabilized adequately from pressure created by two axial flow *** experiments,paddy was spread on the floor and mixed with a special roller *** ISD has been evaluated for paddy in the Philippines during both rainy and dry seasons and was subsequently *** drying and shade drying were carried out in parallel for comparison and product was evaluated for moisture content and quality in terms of milling recovery and head rice *** content was reduced from 23%to 14%within 26-52 h of continuous operation during the rainy season and 16%to 14%within 4-26 h of drying during the dry *** both seasons,the final moisture content of 12%was reached after prolonged drying *** was not found to be affected with respect to drying *** ISD showed advantages over sun drying,despite longer drying periods.

Physical activity and chronic back conditions:A population-based pooled study of 60,134 adults

Background:Little is known about the association between different types of physical activity(PA)and chronic back conditions(CBCs)at the population *** investigated the association between levels of total and type-specific PA participation and ***'.The sample comprised 60,134 adults aged>16 years who participated in the Health Survey for England and Scottish Health Survey from 1994 to *** logistic regression models,adjusted for potential confbunders,were used to examine the association between total and type-specific PA volume(walking,domestic activity,sport/exercise,cycling,football/rugby,running/jogging,manual work,and housework)and the prevalence of ***'.We found an inverse association between total PA volume and prevalence of *** with inactive participants,the fully adjusted odds ratio(OR)for very active participants(≥15 metabolic equivalent h/week)was 0.77(95%confidence interval(CI):0.69—0.85).Participants reporting≥300 min/week of moderate-intensity activity and≥75 min/week of vigorous-intensity activity had 24%(95%CI:6%—39%)and 21%(95%C1:11%—30%)lower odds of CBCs,*** odds of CBCs were observed for participation in high-level manual domestic activity(OR=1.22;95%CI:1.00-1.48).Sport/exercise was associated with CBCs in a less consistent manner(e.g.,OR=1.18(95%CI:1.06—1.32)for low levels and OR=0.82(95%CI:0.72—0.93)for high levels of sport/exercise).Conclusion'.PA volume is inversely associated with the prevalence of CBCs.
