COVID-19 vaccination in Brazil required a phased program,with priorities for age groups,health workers,and vulnerable *** distancing and isolation interventions have been essential to mitigate the advance of the pandemic in several *** developed a mathematical model capable of capturing the dynamics of the SARS-CoV-2 dissemination aligned with social distancing,isolation measures,and *** data from the city of Rio de Janeiro provided a case study to analyze possible scenarios,including non-pharmaceutical interventions and vaccination in the epidemic *** results demonstrate that the combination of vaccination and policies of transmission suppression potentially lowered the number of hospitalized cases by 380þand 66þthousand cases,respectively,compared to an absence of such *** top of transmission suppressiononly policies,vaccination impacted more than 230þthousand averted hospitalized cases and 43þthousand averted ***,health surveillance activities should be maintained along with vaccination planning in scheduled groups until a large vaccinated coverage is ***,this analytical framework enables evaluation of such scenarios.

Socioeconomic and environmental losses caused by water erosion have highlighted the importance of quantifying and understanding the dynamics of soil redistribution in the landscape to develop effective soil management *** methods are applied to estimate erosion/deposition rates and identify sources of sediments,among them,the one that uses rare earth elements(REE)as a tracer stands ***,an alternative not yet explored that can benefit the accuracy of the estimates provided by the method is using a tracer containing a chemical signature composed of more than one *** present study aimed to evaluate the performance of a new water erosion tracer based on montmoril-lonite labeled with rare earth elements(La40-mmT).The innovative aspects of this La40-mmT tracer include its highly stable multi-chemical signature(Nd^(3+),La^(3+),and Pr^(3+)),which enhances tracer detection in the environment,and its low production cost due to the use of an industrial residue in the synthesis *** tracer was evaluated for a typical soil of the Cerrado biome,using a natural rainfall field-scale plot-NRFP(5 m × 20 m)and a physical predictive erosion model(WEPP).The results showed that the La40-mmT tracer could be used to estimate erosion/deposition rates,with agreement between the values observed with the tracer and the WEPP ***,this study confirmed the great potential of La40-mmT as a tool to identify patterns of soil redistribution at the field scale and aid in the validation of erosion models.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is highly prevalent in patients with diabetes mellitus and increasing evidence suggests that patients with type 2diabetes are at a particularly high risk for developing the progressive forms of NAFLD,non-alcoholic steatohepatitis and associated advanced liver ***,diabetes is an independent risk factor for NAFLD progression,and for hepatocellular carcinoma development and liver-related mortality in prospective ***,patients with NAFLD have an elevated prevalence of *** studies have shown that NAFLD presence predicts the development of type2 *** and NAFLD have mutual pathogenetic mechanisms and it is possible that genetic and environmental factors interact with metabolic derangements to accelerate NAFLD progression in diabetic *** diagnosis of the more advanced stages of NAFLD in diabetic patients shares the same challenges as in non-diabetic patients and it includes imaging and serological methods,although histopathological evaluation is still considered the gold standard diagnostic *** effective established treatment is not yet available for patients with steatohepatitis and fibrosis and randomized clinical trials including only diabetic patients are *** sought to outline the published data including epidemiology,pathogenesis,diagnosis and treatment of NAFLD in diabetic patients,in order to better understand the interplay between these two prevalent diseases and identify the gaps that still need to be fulfilled in the management of NAFLD in patients with diabetes mellitus.

Studies of problems involving physical anisotropy are applied in sciences and engineering,for instance,when the thermal conductivity depends on the *** this study,the multigrid method was used in order to accelerate the convergence of the iterative methods used to solve this type of *** asymptotic convergence factor of the multigrid was determined empirically(computer aided)and also by employing local Fourier analysis(LFA).The mathematical model studied was the 2D anisotropic diffusion equation,in whichε>0 was the coefficient of a *** equation was discretized by the Finite Difference method(FDm)and Central Differencing Scheme(CDS).Correction Scheme(CS),pointwise Gauss-Seidel smoothers(Lexicographic and Red-Black ordering),and line Gauss-Seidel smoothers(Lexicographic and Zebra ordering)in x and y directions were used for building the *** best asymptotic convergence factor was obtained by the Gauss-Seidel method in the direction x for 0>*** this sense,an xy-zebra-GS smoother was proposed,which proved to be efficient and robust for the different anisotropy ***,the convergence factors calculated empirically and by LFA are in agreement.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor(ImT)occurs infrequently in the *** is controversial whether it represents a low grade mesenchymal neoplasm or a reactive inflammatory *** recurrence and metastasis are rare and some tumors are associated with infectious *** report on a case of a large and partially resected ImT with local recurrence and diaphragm and kidney infiltration detected on routine surveillance two years ***,the tumor showed spindle cells without atypia,mitosis or necrotic areas in a myxoid and collagenized background with inflammatory *** the liver portal tracts,granulomatous lesions with viable eggs of Schistosoma mansoni were *** demonstrated spindle cells which were smooth-muscle actin and vimentin *** conclusion,this case points out that these histological patterns do not predict the aggressive biological behavior of the lesion.A reason for the recurrence and the infiltration may be incomplete tumor *** investigation is necessary in order to better clarify an infectious cause in some ImTs.
