Typically, the unambiguous determination of the quantum numbers of nuclear states is a challenging task. Recently, it has been proposed to utilize to this aim vortex photons in the MeV energy region and, potentially, this could revolutionize nuclear spectroscopy because of the new and enhanced selectivity of this probe. Moreover, nuclei may become diagnostic tools for vortex photons. Still, some open questions have to be dealt *** exhibit intricate excitation spectra. Indeed, not all states within these spectra are equally significant. some are not sensitive to specific terms in the nuclear Hamiltonian or do not display novel features, so that investigating them is not helpful to enhance our overall understanding of nuclear structure. On the other hand, there are states that manifest themselves as prominent peaks, e.g., in the inelastic scattering spectra. Among the best examples are the so-called Giant Resonances that lie at energies of the order of tens of MeV [1].

1 Introduction Isolated atrial septal defects （ASD） represent 7% of all cardiac anomalies and can present at any age. Adolescents and adults with simple congenital heart disease such as isolated atrial septal defects are more likely to reach adult age without being diagnosed. secundum ASD （sASD） is by far the most common type, occurring in 1/1500 live births, with 65% to 75% involving females, On the other hand, patent foramen ovale （PFO） represents an endemic variant in the normal population with a prevalence of 25%-27%. These two entities appear so different that is difficult to fred a conjunction ring： nevertheless we use the same philosophy for the treatment, Indeed, device-based closure has been proved to be effective in both settings.

During the last 20 years, the management of heart failure has significantly improved by means of new pharmacotherapies, more timely invasive treatments and device assisted therapies. Indeed, advances in mechanical support, namely with the development of more efficient left ventricular assist devices (LVADs), and the total artificial heart have reduced mortality and morbidity in patients awaiting transplantation, so much so, that LVADs are now approved of as a strategy for destination therapy. In this review, the authors describe in detail the current basic indications, functioning modalities, main limitations of surgical LAVDs, total artificial heart development, and percutaneous assist devices, trying to clarify this complex, but fascinating topic.

There is a group of proteins that are encoded by a single gene, expressed as a single precursor protein and dually targeted to both mitochondria and chloroplasts using an ambiguous targeting peptide. sequence analysis of 43 dual targeted proteins in comparison with 385 mitochondrial proteins and 567 chloroplast proteins ofArabidopsis thaliana revealed an overall significant increase in phenylalanines, leucines, and serines and a decrease in acidic amino acids and glycine in dual targeting peptides （dTPs）. The N-terminal portion of dTPs has significantly more serines than mTPs. The number of arginines is similar to those in mTPs, but almost twice as high as those in cTPs. We have investigated targeting determinants of the dual targeting peptide of Thr-tRNA synthetase （ThrRS-dTP） studying organellar import of N- and C-terminal deletion constructs of ThrRS-dTP coupled to GFR These results show that the 23 amino acid long N-terminal portion of ThrRS-dTP is crucial but not sufficient for the organellar import. The C-terminal deletions revealed that the shortest peptide that was capable of conferring dual targeting was 60 amino acids long. We have purified the ThrRS- dTP（2-60） to homogeneity after its expression as a fusion construct with GST followed by CNBr cleavage and ion exchange chromatography. The purified ThrRS-dTP（2-60） inhibited import of pF1β into mitochondria and of pSSU into chloroplasts at μM concentrations showing that dual and organelle-specific proteins use the same organellar import pathways. Furthermore, the CD spectra of ThrRS-dTP（2-60） indicated that the peptide has the propensity for forming α-helical structure in membrane mimetic environments; however, the membrane charge was not important for the amount of induced helical structure. This is the first study in which a dual targeting peptide has been purified and investigated by biochemical and biophysical means.
