The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal(HPG)axis ubiquitously regulates seasonal reproduction,following the rhythmicity of a suite of environmental *** display prominent seasonal variations in gonad size regulated by two hypothalamic peptides,gonadotropin-releasing hormone-1(GnRH-I)and gonadotropin-inhibiting hormone(GnIH).How multi-brooded avian species adjust GnRH-I and GnIH to regulate gonadal morphology seasonally remains largely ***,we studied the variations in the hypothalamic immunoreactivity(ir)of GnRH-I and GnIH,gonadal proliferation,and apoptosis in a typical multi-brooded species,the Eurasian Tree Sparrow(Passer montanus),across the pre-breeding(PB),first breeding(FB),second breeding(SB),pre-basic molt(Pm),and wintering stages(WS).Our results showed that both sexes had higher preoptic area(POA)-GnRH-I-ir but lower paraventricular nucleus(PVN)-GnIH-ir neurons during the breeding stages(FB and SB)relative to other life-history stages,with no significant differences between two *** testes and ovaries were significantly larger during the breeding *** volume increased during the two broods due to anincreased diameter of seminiferous ***,there were more testicular apoptotic cells in PB and WS stages than in breeding stages,and in PB stage than in Pm *** had higher POA-GnRH-I expression than females during the breeding stages,but both sexes had comparable PVN-GnIH expression throughout the annual *** sexes of the sparrows may undergo a similar pattern of life-history stage-dependent variation in the hypothalamic GnRH-I,GnIH,and gonadal morphology,except that during breeding stages,males may display higher expression of POA-GnRH-I relative to *** higher expression of POA-GnRH-I-ir in breeding male sparrows may be critical for male-dependent parental care.

【目的】明确白粉病胁迫对小麦光合特性的影响规律，构建白粉病胁迫下小麦光合生产的模拟模型。【方法】以小麦为试验材料，分别于拔节期和孕穗期进行不同接种程度的小麦白粉病试验，明确白粉病对小麦光合特性的影响规律；在此基础上构建小麦白粉病严重度预测模型，量化白粉病对小麦的生理影响；基于单叶净光合速率（P_n）和叶面积指数（LAI），实现小麦白粉病严重度预测模型与作物生长模型（WheatGrow）的耦合。【结果】白粉病胁迫下，小麦单叶P_n和LAI均呈现下降趋势，与对照（CK）相比分别平均下降18.81%和23.41%，且与初始接种程度相比，发病时期对小麦P_n和LAI的影响更为严重；小麦白粉病田间病情发展具有明显的平缓期、指数爆发期和稳定期，总的来说各处理下小麦白粉病流行的时间动态变化特征符合Logistic函数，基于白粉病胁迫对小麦影响的拟合结果，构建小麦白粉病病害胁迫因子，用以反映白粉病对小麦生理指标影响的胁迫效应；基于WheatGrow模型的光合生产子模型，结合小麦白粉病病害胁迫因子，提出模拟白粉病对小麦叶片P_n和LAI效应的算法，并利用独立年份的数据资料对改进后的WheatGrow模型进行检验。【结论】耦合白粉病胁迫因子的WheatGrow模型对白粉病胁迫下小麦叶片P_n、LAI、地上部生物量和产量的预测精度均好于原模型，模拟精度较原模型分别提高了53.29%、43.61%、60.09%和67.57%，改进后的模型可为小麦白粉病严重度的预测与小麦产量损失的定量评估等提供数字化工具和技术支撑。

Effects of Convolvulus arvensis Water Extract on Germination of Okra Under Different Seed Sizes

Convolvulus arvensis is a toxic allelopathic weed that suppresses germination and growth of crops. The prime object of present study was to investigate effect of Convolvulus arvensis water extract on germination and performance of okra with different seed sizes. The seeds of okra variety pusa green were separated into three different sizes, viz large size （4.00-5.00 mm）, medium size （3.00-3.50 mm） and small size （2.00-3.50 mm）, and then soaked in allelopathic plant bindweed water extract and kept in patrisdishes for germination into the germinator at 15℃. The experiment was laid out using Complete Randomized Design （CRD） with three replications. The results showed that after sowing of 12 days the highest germination was observed in non-treated seeds as compared to seeds treated in Convolvulus arvensis water extract for 1 h, further non-treated large seeds produced maximum plants as compared to treated small seeds after sowing of 24 days. meanwhile, root length, shoot length, root fresh and dry weight, shoot fresh and dry weight were recorded higher in non-treated large seeds as compared to small seeds soaked for 1 h in Convolvulus arvensis allelopthic water extract. It could be found that Convolvulus arvensis affected germination, seed growth and overall performance of okra, further presence Convolvulus arvensis in crops could cause negative impact on germination and integrity of okra crops.

The book chapter is an extended version of the research paper entitled “Use of Component Integration Services in multidatabase Systems”, which is presented and published by the 13th ISITA, the National Conference of Recent Trends in mathematical and Computer Sciences, T.m.B. University, Bhagalpur, India, January 3-4, 2015. Information is widely distributed across many remote, distributed, and autonomous databases (local component databases) in heterogeneous formats. The integration of heterogeneous remote databases is a difficult task, and it has already been addressed by several projects to certain extents. In this chapter, we have discussed how to integrate heterogeneous distributed local relational databases because of their simplicity, excellent security, performance, power, flexibility, data independence, support for new hardware technologies, and spread across the globe. We have also discussed how to constitute a global conceptual schema in the multidatabase system using Sybase Adaptive Server Enterprise’s Component Integration Services (CIS) and OmniConnect. This is feasible for higher education institutions and commercial industries as well. Considering the higher educational institutions, the CIS will improve IT integration for educational institutions with their subsidiaries or with other institutions within the country and abroad in terms of educational management, teaching, learning, and research, including promoting international students’ academic integration, collaboration, and governance. This will prove an innovative strategy to support the modernization and large expansion of academic institutions. This will be considered IT-institutional alignment within a higher education context. Natural intercalation of the graphite oxide, obtained as a product of Hummer＇s method, via ultra-sonication of water dispersed graphite oxide has been carried out to obtain graphene oxide（GO） and thermally reduced graphene oxide（RGO）.Here we report the effect of metallic nitrate on the oxidation properties of graphite and then formation of metallic oxide（mO） composites with GO and RGO for the first time. We observed a change in the efficiency of the oxidation process as we replaced the conventionally used sodium nitrate with that of nickel nitrate Ni（NO_3）_2, cadmium nitrate Cd（NO_3）_2,and zinc nitrate Zn（NO_3）_2. The structural properties were investigated by x-ray diffraction and observed the successful formation of composite of mO–GO and mO–RGO（m = Zn, Cd, Ni）. We sought to study the effect on the oxidation process through optical characterization via UV-Vis spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared（FTIR） ***, Thermo Gravimetric Analysis（TGA） was carried out to confirm 〉 90% weight loss in each process thus proving the reliability of the oxidation cycles. We have found that the nature of the oxidation process of graphite powder and its optical and electrochemical characteristics can be tuned by replacing the sodium nitrate（NaNO_3） by other metallic nitrates as Cd（NO_3）_2, Ni（NO_3）_2, and Zn（NO_3）_2. On the basis of obtained results, the synthesized GO and RGO may be expected as a promising material in antibacterial activity and in electrodes fabrication for energy devices such as solar cell, fuel cell,and super capacitors.

Background:Efficient and selective utilization of metabolic substrates is one of the key strategies in high-altitude animals to cope with hypoxia and *** findings have shown that the energy substrate utilization of highland animals varies with evolutionary history and *** heart is a proxy for the cardiopulmonary system,and the metabolic substrate utilization in the myocardium is also under the strong selective pressure of chronically hypoxic and hypothermic ***,little information is available on the physiological adjustments in relation to metabolic substrate utilization in the myocardium for coping with high-altitude ***:We compared the metabolic enzyme activities,including hexokinase(HK),phosphofructokinase(PFK),pyruvate kinase(PK),citrate synthase(CS),carnitine palmitoyl transferase 1(CPT-1),lactic dehydrogenase(LDH),and creatine kinase(CK),and metabolic substrate contents including glucose(Glu),triglyceride(TG),and free fatty acid(FFA)in the myocardium of a typical human commensal species,Eurasian Tree Sparrows(Passer montanus)between the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(the QTP,3230 m)and low altitude population(Shijiazhuang,80 m),and between ***:Among the seven metabolic enzymes and three substrates investigated,we identified no significant differences in PK,CPT-1,HK,CS,LDH,and CK activities and TG content of the myocardium between high and low altitude ***,the QTP sparrows had significantly lower Glu content and PFK activities but higher FFA content relative to their lowland *** addition,male sparrows had higher myocardial HK and CS activities relative to females,independent of ***:Our results showed that the QTP sparrows elevated fatty acid utilization rather than glucose preference in the myocardium relative to lowland counterpart,which contributes to uncovering both the physiological adjustments for adapting to the extreme conditions of the QTP,intraspe

The Istanbul GPS Triangulation Network(IGTN) and the Istanbul Levelling Network(ILN),established in2006,provide data for the determination of a local GNSS/levelling geoid *** networks’ measurements were done separately on both the Asian and European sides of the Bosphorus Strait in the vicinity of *** connect these regions for those networks,a Valley Cross Levelling(VCL) data set,acquired in 1986 and 2004,was *** use of this VCL data set was challenging in calculating the Istanbul geoid model,primarily because of its *** this study,this challenge was overcome through newly collected VCL data in 2010,allowing for the readjustment of the ILN and the newly collected VCL data *** Istanbul geoid model was computed using soft computing techniques including the adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference system(ANFIS) and the artificial neural networks(ANNs).The resulting Istanbul GNSS/levelling geoid model is shown to be more reliable when compared with the model computed using conventional interpolation techniques.

Tritrophic interactions between parasitoids and cereal aphids are mediated by nitrogen fertilizer

Host plant nutritional quality can directly and indirectly affect the third trophic levels. The aphid-parasitoid relationship provides an ideal system to investigate tritrophic interactions （as the parasitoids are completely dependent for their development upon their hosts） and assess the bottom up forces operating at different concentrations of nitrogen applications. The effects of varying nitrogen fertilizer on the performance of Aphidius colemani （V.） reared on Sitobion avenae （E） and Aphidius rhopalosiphi （D.） reared on Rhopalosiphum padi （L.） were measured. Parasitism and percent emergence ofparasitoids were positively affected by nitrogen fertilizer treatments while developmental duration （egg, larval, and pupal stages） was not affected by increasing nitrogen inputs. In males and females of both parasitoid species, adult longevity increased with the increasing nitrogen fertilizer. Hind tibia length and mummy weight of both parasitoid species increased with nitrogen fertilizer concentrations, as a result of larger aphids. This study showed that nitrogen application to the soil can have important consequences for aboveground multitrophic interactions.
