Composite nanodielectrics consisted of an epoxy resin and barium titanate nanoparticles were developed and *** measurements were performed via broadband dielectric *** results reveal the presence of three relaxation processes,which are attributed to(a)glass to rubber transition of the polymer matrix(α-mode),(b)re-arrangement of polar side groups(β-mode)and(c)interfacial polarisation between system’s *** ability of the examined nanodielectrics to store and harvest energy was also examined in dc *** dc voltage varied in the range of 10–240 *** data indicate that increasing the applied dc field results to higher values of the stored and harvested *** energy efficiency was also investigated in all *** filler content enhances the coefficient of energy efficiency(neff)up to 58.2%for the 7 phr BaTiO_(3)nanocomposite at 200 V and 10 s charging/discharging time.

The Network Makeup Artist(NORMA) is a web tool for interactive network annotation visualization and topological analysis, able to handle multiple networks and annotations simultaneously. Precalculated annotations(e.g., Gene Ontology, Pathway enrichment, community detection,or clustering results) can be uploaded and visualized in a network, either as colored pie-chart nodes or as color-filled areas in a 2D/3D Venn-diagram-like style. In the case where no annotation exists,algorithms for automated community detection are offered. Users can adjust the network views using standard layout algorithms or allow NORMA to slightly modify them for visually better group separation. Once a network view is set, users can interactively select and highlight any group of interest in order to generate publication-ready figures. Briefy, with NORMA, users can encode three types of information simultaneously. These are 1) the network, 2) the communities or annotations of interest, and 3) node categories or expression values. Finally, NORMA offers basic topological analysis and direct topological comparison across any of the selected networks. As the world population is continuously aging, the number of older patients requiring liver surgery is also on the rise. Data have shown that age should not be a limiting factor for liver resection, as it cannot accurately predict postoperative outcomes. Instead, frailty can serve as a more reliable measure of the patient's overall health and functional reserves. Several frailty assessment tools have been implemented for preoperative risk stratification before liver surgery, and higher scores have commonly been associated with postoperative morbidity, mortality, and length of hospital stay. However, no consensus has been reached on the most useful screening tool. Future studies should focus on comparing the currently available assessment tools, constructing a liver resection-specific tool, and assessing the role of frailty assessment tools in preoperative patient optimization.

PM_(1)0 samples were collected from an urban/industrial site nearby Athens,where uncontrolled burning activities ***,monocarboxylic,dicarboxylic,hydroxycarboxylic and aromatic acids,tracers from BVOC oxidation,biomass burning tracers and bisphenol A were ***,monocarboxylic acids,biomass burning tracers and bisphenol A were increased during autumn/winter,while BSOA tracers,dicarboxylic-and hydroxycarboxylic acids during *** aromatic acids,different sources and formation mechanisms were indicated as benzoic,phthalic and trimellitic acids were peaked during summer whereas p-toluic,isophthalic and terephthalic were more abundant during autumn/*** Benzo[a]pyrene-equivalent carcinogenic power,carcinogenic and mutagenic activities were calculated showing significant(p<0.05)increases during the colder ***,succinic and malic acids were the most abundant monocarboxylic,dicarboxylic and hydrocarboxylic acids during the entire sampling *** oxidation was the most significant contributor to BSOA as the isoprene-SOA compounds were two times more abundant than the pinene-SOA(13.4±12.3 and 6.1±2.9 ng/m^3,respectively).Ozone has significant impact on the formation of many studied compounds showing significant correlations with:isoprene-SOA(r=0.77),hydrocarboxylic acids(r=0.69),pinene-SOA(r=0.63),dicarboxylic acids(r=0.58),and the sum of phthalic,benzoic and trimellitic acids(r=0.44).PCA demonstrated five factors that could explain sources including plastic enriched waste burning(30.8%),oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids(23.0%),vehicle missions and cooking(9.2%),biomass burning(7.7%)and oxidation of VOCs(5.8%).The results highlight the significant contribution of plastic waste uncontrolled burning to the overall air quality degradation.

De novo lipogenesis(DNL)plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hepatic steatosis and also appears to be implicated in hepatic inflammation and ***,the inhibition of acetyl-CoA carboxylase,which catalyzes the ratelimiting step of DNL,might represent a useful approach in the management of patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Animal studies and preliminary data in patients with NAFLD consistently showed an improvement in steatosis with the use of these ***,effects on fibrosis were variable and an increase in plasma triglyceride levels was ***,more longterm studies are needed to clarify the role of these agents in NAFLD and to determine their risk/benefit profile.

Neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract are rare neoplasms. Rectal neuroendocrine tumors consist approximately the 5%-14% of all neuroendocrine neoplasms in Europe. These tumors are diagnosed in relatively young patients,with a mean age at diagnosis of 56 years. Distant metastases from rectal neuroendocrine tumors are not very common. Herein we describe a case of a rectal neuroendocrine tumor which metastasized to the lung,mediastinum and orbit. This case underscores the importance of early identification and optimal management to improve patient's prognosis. Therefore,the clinical significance of this case is the necessity of physicians' awareness and education regarding neuroendocrine tumors' diagnosis and management.

Background:To report a case of bilateral benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia(BRLH)of the conjunctiva treated with oral doxycycline and perform review of the literature evaluating the presentation,treatment and risk of transformation to *** presentation:A case report is described and review of the literature from January 1975 to January 2019 was performed.A 30-year-old man presented with bilateral enlarging fleshy pink medial canthal conjunctival *** biopsy revealed *** doxycycline was initiated(100 mg two times a day)for a total of 2 *** lesions decreased in size significantly at the patient’s two-month follow up *** residual lesion in the right eye was excised along with an adjacent pterygium and the patient has been free of recurrence for the past 1.5 *** lesion in the left eye has remained stable in size after cessation of the oral doxycycline.A total of 235 cases of conjunctival BRLH were identified in our literature *** mean age at diagnosis was 35.2 years(range,5 to 91 years).BRLH lesions were unilateral in 75%of patients and bilateral in 25%of *** patients(2.9%)had a concurrent Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)infection at the time of lesion *** most common treatments were surgical excision(155/235 or 65.9%)and corticosteroids(30/235 or 12.7%),while 14%(33/235)of the patients were observed and 4.6%(11/235)received external beam radiotherapy *** occurred in ten patients(10/235 or 4.2%),of whom five had undergone surgical excision alone,two excision followed by external beam radiotherapy,one excision and oral corticosteroids,one radiotherapy alone and one had been treated with topical ***,only 2 of the 235 reported cases(0.8%)developed malignancy,one localized to the conjunctiva and one ***:Benign reactive lymphoid hyperplasia is one of the lymphoproliferative disorders of the conjunctiva and ocular *** literature review shows that m

Imaging of filtering blebs after implantation of the Ex-PRESS shunt with the use of the Visante optical coherence tomography

AIM: To analyze the features of the filtering blebs following implantation of the Ex-PRESS glaucoma device(model P-50) with the aid of the Visante anterior segment optical coherence tomography(AS-OCT)METHODS: Five patients with open angle glaucomas were included in the study. They all underwent implantation of the Ex-PRESS device under a scleral flap. The surgical procedure was augmented with the use of mitomycin C subconjunctivally. The filtering blebs were analyzed with the Visante AS-OCT with the scans taken along the axis of the implantation of the glaucoma ***: All filtering blebs were graded as diffuse functioning. The morphological characteristics of the blebs were similar to those of the *** the use of the Ex-PRESS implant tend to form a characteristic episcleral lake at the site of the plate of the implant. CONCLUSION: The use of the Ex-PRESS implant produces filtering blebs similar to those of the trabeculectomy with the formation of a characteristic episcleral lake at the site of the plate of the implant.
