Metastatic disease from cutaneous melanoma can af-fect all organs of the body, and varies in its biological behavior and clinical presentation. We present the case of a 58-year-old man who arrived at our clinic with acute abdominal pain, which, after investigation, was diagnosed as acute cholecystitis. The patient under-went laparotomy and cholecystectomy. Two years ago, he underwent surgical removal of a primary cutaneous melanoma on his right upper back. Pathological exami-nation revealed the presence of malignant melanoma with a metastatic lesion of the gallbladder.

BACKGROUND Bacillus subtilis(B. subtilis) is considered a nonpathogenic microorganism of the genus Bacillus and a common laboratory contaminant. Only scarce reports of B. subtilis central nervous system infection have been reported, mainly in the form of pyogenic meningitis,usually in cases of direct inoculation by trauma or *** SUMMARY A 51-year-old man, with a free previous medical history, presented to the Emergency Department of our hospital complaining of recurrent episodes of left upper limb weakness, during the last month, which had been worsened the last 48 h. During his presentation in Emergency Department he experienced a generalized tonic-clonic grand mal seizure. Brain magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) scan with intravenous Gadolinium revealed a 3.3 cm × 2.7 cm lesion at the right parietal lobe surrounded by mild vasogenic edema, which included the posterior central gyrus. The core of the lesion showed relatively homogenous restricted diffusion. Post Gadolinium T1 W1 image, revealed a ring-shaped enhancement. Due to the imaging findings, brain abscess was our primary consideration. Detailed examination for clinical signs of infectious foci revealed only poor oral hygiene with severe tooth decay and periodontal disease, but without detection of dental abscess. The patient underwent surgical treatment with right parietal craniotomy and total excision of the lesion. Pus and capsule tissue grew B. subtilis and according to antibiogram intravenous ceftriaxone 2 g bids was administered for 4 wk. The patient remained asymptomatic and follow-up MRI scan two months after operation showed complete removal of the *** This case highlights the ultimate importance of appropriate oral hygiene and dental care to avoid potentially serious infectious complications and second, B. subtilis should not be considered merely as laboratory contaminant especially when cultivated by appropriate central nervous system specimen.

Nowadays, natural hazards constitute an integral part in the everyday reality of people’s lives. A landslide event, although usually occurring at a low frequency (compared to other hazards), may develop into a major natural disaster involving extensive and adverse effects, both in the natural and man-made environment. Thus, by making this assumption and combining it with the human mentality that has the tendency to reassure and resist extreme physical processes, the underlying danger “in total”, is multiple of what is expected. Therefore, studying of this phenomenon is so important in many areas. Because of the climate conditions, geologic and geomorphologic characteristics of the region, the purpose of this study was the landslide hazard assessment by using Fuzzy Logic, Frequency Ratio and Analytical Hierarchy Process method in the Evritania prefecture. At first, landslides occurring in Evritania prefecture, were identified using a landslide database from Institute of Geology & Mineral Exploration of Greece and by primary field studies. The influence landslide factors used in this study were slope, aspect, elevation, lithology, precipitation, land cover, distance from faults and distance from rivers, were obtained from different sources and maps. Using these factors and the identified landslides, the fuzzy membership values were calculated by frequency ratio. Then, to account for the importance of each of the parameters in the landslide susceptibility, weights of each factor were determined based on the Analytical Hierarchy Process method. Finally, fuzzy map of each factor was multiplied to its weight that obtained using AHP method and at the end—for computing prediction accuracy—the produced map was verified by comparing to existing landslide locations. These results indicate that the three methods Fuzzy Logic, Frequency Ratio and Analytical Hierarchy Process method are relatively good estimators of landslide susceptibility in the study area. Background and Importance: Cavernomas of the septum pellucidum represent an extremely rare subtype of CNS cavernous angiomas which are a rare subtype of CNS tumors. Intraventricular cavernomas of the body of the lateral ventricle are usually treated by the transcallosal approach. Clinical Presentation: We present a case of a fifty-eight year old man with a septum pellucidum cavernoma successfully treated operatively by means of the inferior parietal transcortical transventricular approach. This unusual and scarcely documented tumor was situated at the posterior third of the septum pellucidum. The patient had a good recovery with no focal deficit. Conclusion: Septum pellucidum cavernomas are extremely rare lesions. Inferior parietal transcortical approach is a safe alternative to the commonly used transcallosal approach for lesions of the posterior half of the septum pellucidum.

Kounis syndrome is the concurrence of coronary spasm, acute myocardial infarction or stent thrombosis, with allergic reactions in the setting of mast-cell and platelet activation. In this report Kounis syndrome manifesting as stent thrombosis with left ventricular thrombus formation was triggered by a food-induced allergic reaction. The allergic reaction to food was confirmed by oral rice pudding ingredients challenge test while skin tests were inconclusive. To our knowledge, this is first report of early stent thrombosis secondary to food allergic reaction in a 70-year-old man patient who was found to have left ventricular thrombus and undiagnosed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
