*** In recent years,there has been an intense research effort by the international community in the field of“artificial”electromagnetic materials,or“metamaterials.”Metamaterials are engineered structures that induce a tailored arrangement of magnetic and electric dipole moments when excited by an incident electromagnetic *** certain conditions,such as when the comprising unit cells are sub-wavelength,metamaterials can be homogenized and described in terms of macroscopic constitutive parameters such as permeability,permittivity,and refractive index.A summary of the early work on“artificial dielectrics”can be found in Ref.[1].In the over 20-year-old field of metamaterials,the desired macroscopic parameters correspond to extreme properties such as negative permittivity,negative permeability,and a negative refractive *** the most recognized metamaterial is that which realizes a negative refractive index,originally demonstrated at microwaves and based on a unit cellmade out of a split-ring resonator and a wire[2].In the engineering community,a transmission-line approach was developed for implementing metamaterials with significant advantages,such as reduced transmission losses and wider operating bandwidths[3,4].

Recyclability and self-healing are two most critical factors in developing sustainable polymers to deal with environmental pollution and resource *** this work,a dynamic cross-linked polyimide insulation film with full closed-loop recyclability is successfully prepared,which also possesses good self-healing ability after being mechanical/electrical damaged depending on the schiff base dynamic covalent *** recycled and self-healed polyimide film still maintain its good tensile strength(r t)>60 MPa with Young’s modulus(E)>4 GPa,high thermal stability with glass transition temperature(T g)>220℃,and outstanding insulation property with breakdown strength(E 0)>358 kV mm^(-1),making it a very promising low energy consumption and high temperature resistant insulation *** strategy of using schiff base dynamic covalent bonds for reversible repairing the structure of high T g polyimides promotes the wider application of such sustainable and recyclable material in the field of electrical power and micro-electronics.

Molten salts play multiple important roles in the electrolysis of solid metal compounds,particularly oxides and sulfides,for the extraction of metals or *** of these roles are positive in assisting the extraction of metals,such as dissolving the oxide or sulfide anions,and transporting them to the anode for discharging,and offering the high temperature to lower the kinetic barrier to break the metal-oxygen or metal-sulfur ***,molten salts also have unfavorable effects,including electronic conductivity and significant capability of dissolving oxygen and carbon dioxide *** addition,although molten salts are relatively simple in terms of composition,physical properties,and decomposition reactions at inert electrodes,in comparison with aqueous electrolytes,the high temperatures of molten salts may promote unwanted electrode-electrolyte *** article reviews briefly and selectively the research and development of the F ray-F arthing-Chen(FFC)Cambridge Process in the past two decades,focusing on observations,understanding,and solutions of various interactions between molten salts and cathodes at different reduction states,including perovskitization,non-wetting of molten salts on pure metals,carbon contamination of products,formation of oxychlorides and calcium intermetallic compounds,and oxygen transfer from the air to the cathode product mediated by oxide anions in the molten salt.

Functionalized Data Operator Model for system Analysis and Forecasting

A deconvolution data processing is developed for obtaining a Functionalized Data Operator (FDO) model that is trained to approximate past and present, input-output data relations. The FDO model is designed to predict future output features for deviated input vectors from any expected, feared of conceivable, future input for optimum control, forecast, or early-warning hazard evaluation. The linearized FDO provides fast analytical, input-output solution in matrix equation form. If the FDO is invertible, the necessary input for a desired output may be explicitly evaluated. A numerical example is presented for FDO model identification and hazard evaluation for methane inflow into the working face in an underground mine: First, a Physics-Based Operator (PBO) model to match monitored data. second, FDO models are identified for matching the observed, short-term variations with time in the measured data of methane inflow, varying model parameters and simplifications following the parsimony concept of Occam’s Razor. The numerical coefficients of the PBO and FDO models are found to differ by two to three orders of magnitude for methane release as a function of short-time barometric pressure variations. As being data-driven, the significantly different results from an FDO versus PBO model is either an indication of methane release processes poorly understood and modeled in PBO, missing some physics for the pressure spikes;or of problems in the monitored data fluctuations, erroneously sampled with time;or of false correlation. Either way, the FDO model is originated from the functionalized form of the monitored data, and its result is considered experimentally significant within the specified RMs error of model matching.

Regional photovoltaic(PV) power prediction plays an important role in power system planning and operation. To effectively improve the performance of prediction intervals(PIs) for very short-term regional PV outputs, an efficient nonparametric probabilistic prediction method based on granulebased clustering(GC) and direct optimization programming(DOP) is proposed. First, GC is proposed to formulate and cluster the sample granules consisting of numerical weather prediction(NWP) and historical regional output data, for the enhanced hierarchical clustering performance. Then, to improve the accuracy of samples' utilization, an unbalanced extension is used to reconstruct the training samples consisting of power time series. After that, DOP is applied to quantify the output weights based on the optimal overall performance. Meanwhile, a balance coefficient is studied for the enhanced reliability of PIs. Finally, the proposed method is validated through multistep PIs based on the numerical comparison of real PV generation data.

Use of stainless reinforcing steel （sRs） in reinforced concrete （RC） structures is a promising solution to corrosion issues. However, for sRs to be used in seismic applications, several mechanical properties need to be investigated. These include specified and actual yield strengths, tensile strengths, uniform elongations and low-cycle fatigue behavior. Three types of sRss （Talley s24100, Talley 316LN and Talley 2205） were tested and the results are reported in this paper. They were compared with the properties of A706 carbon reinforcing steel （Rs）, which is typical for seismic applications, and MMFX II, which is a high strength, corrosion resistant Rs. Low-cycle fatigue tests of the Rs coupons were conducted under strain control with constant amplitude to obtain strain life models of the steels. Test results show that the sRss have slightly lower moduli of elasticity, higher uniform elongations before necking, and better low-cycle fatigue performance than A706 and MMFX II. All five types of Rss tested satisfy the requirements of the ACI 318 code on the lower limit of the tensile to yield strength ratio. Except Talley 2205, the other four types of Rss investigated meet the ACI 318 requirement that the actual yield strength does not exceed the specified yield strength by more than 18 ksi （124 MPa）. Among the three types of sRss tested, Talley s24100 possesses the highest uniform elongation before necking, and the best low-cycle fatigue performance.
