We consider dynamic capacity booking problems faced by multiple manufacturers each outsourcing certain operations to a common third-party firm. each manufacturer, upon observing the current state of the third-party schedule, books capacity with the objective to jointly minimize holding costs that result from early deliveries, tardiness penalties due to late deliveries, and third-party capacity booking costs. When making a reservation, each manufacturer evaluates two alternative courses of action：（i） reserving capacity not yet utilized by other manufactures who booked earlier; or （ii） forming a coalition with a subset or all of other manufacturers to achieve a schedule minimizing coalition costs, i.e., a centralized schedule for that coalition. The latter practice surely benefits the coalition as a whole; however, some manufacturers may incur higher costs if their operations are either pushed back too much, or delivered too early. For this reason, a cost allocation scheme making each manufacturer no worse than they would be when acting differently （i.e., participating in a smaller coalition or acting on their own behalf,） must accompany centralized scheduling for the coalition. We model this relationship among the manufacturers as a cooperative game with transferable utility, and present optimal and/or heuristic algorithms to attain individually and eoalitionally optimal schedules as well as a linear program formulation to find a core allocation of the manufacturers＇ costs.

Anharmonicity and local disorder(polymorphism)are ubiquitous in perovskite physics,inducing various phenomena observed in scattering and spectroscopy *** of these phenomena still lack interpretation from first principles since,hitherto,no approach is available to account for anharmonicity and disorder in electron–phonon ***,relying on the special displacement method,we develop a unified treatment of both and demonstrate that electron–phonon coupling is strongly influenced when we employ polymorphous perovskite *** uncover that polymorphism in halide perovskites leads to vibrational dynamics far from the ideal noninteracting phonon picture and drives the gradual change in their band gap around phase transition *** also clarify that combined band gap corrections arising from disorder,spin-orbit coupling,exchange–correlation functionals of high accuracy,and electron–phonon coupling are all *** findings agree with experiments,suggesting that polymorphism is the key to address pending questions on perovskites’technological applications.

A New Method for Finding the Thevenin and Norton equivalent Circuits

The paper presents a new pedagogical method for finding the Thevenin and Norton equivalent circuits of a linear electric circuit (LeC) at the n-different pairs of terminals simultaneously, regardless of the circuit topology and complexity. The proposed method is appropriate for undergraduate electrical and electronic engineering students leading to straightforward solutions, mostly arrived at by inspection, so that it can be regarded as a simple and innovative calculation tool for Thevenin equivalents. Furthermore, the method is easily adapted to computer implementation. examples illustrating the method’s scientific and pedagogical reliability, as well as real test results and statistically-sound data assessing its functionality are provided.

Pancreatic cysts include a variety of benign, premalignant, and malignant lesions. endometrial cysts in the pancreas are exceedingly rare lesions that are difficult to diagnose pre-operatively. This report describes the findings in a 43-year-old patient with a recent episode of acute pancreatitis who presented with a large cyst in the tail of the pancreas. Imaging demonstrated a loculated pancreatic cyst, and cyst fluid aspiration revealed an elevated amylase and carcinoembryonic antigen. The patient experienced an interval worsening of abdominal pain, fatigue, diarrhea, and a 15-pound weight loss 3 mo after the initial episode of pancreatitis. With concern for a possible pre-malignant lesion, the patient underwent a laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy, which revealed a 16cm×12cm×4cm lesion. Final histopathology was consistent with an intra-pancreatic endometrial cyst. Here we discuss the overlapping imaging and laboratory features of pancreatic endometrial cysts and mucinous cystic neoplasms of the pancreas.

Focusing incident power into an area of high concentration is of significant interest for various *** optics,this has been traditionally achieved with lenses where a higher curvature and lens permittivity typically result in shorter focal distances(low f/D).In this work,we present designs and techniques for collecting,refracting and guiding incident light into an area of high power concentration(a hot spot)at extremely short ***,a flat low-profile focusing mechanism is presented using a hetero-junction of anisotropic metamaterials(MTMs).The hetero-junction is formed from two cleaved finite slabs of low(near zero)permittivity anisotropic MTMs with rotated optical *** MTMs have near zero longitudinal permittivity while matched in the transverse *** MTMs are shown to provide a unique ability to bend the transverse magnetic or p-polarized light away from the normal and along the interface,contrary to conventional dielectrics,and with minimal reflections;hence allowing for a low profile *** in the optical regime are presented using periodic bilayers of metal and *** proposed hetero-junction focusing device concentrates the normally incident plane wave and/or beam into a corresponding focal region similar to a lens via multiple *** hetero-junction is capable of creating a hot spot very close to the device,much closer than dielectric lenses and it significantly outperforms the size requirements of thick high curvature lenses with low f/D *** proposed designs can find applications in various scenarios including solar and thermo photovoltaics,photodetectors,concentrated photovoltaics,non-imaging optics,micro-and nano-Fresnel lenses.

Demographic variation and habitat specialization of tree species in a diverse tropical forest of Cameroon

Background： Many tree species in tropical forests have distributions tracking local ridge-slope-valley topography. Previous work in a 50-ha plot in Korup National Park, Cameroon, demonstrated that 272 species, or 63% of those tested, were significantly associated with topography. Methods： We used two censuses of 329,000 trees ≥1 cm dbh to examine demographic variation at this site that would account for those observed habitat preferences. We tested two predictions. First, within a given topographic habitat, species specializing on that habitat （＇residents＇） should outperform species that are specialists of other habitats （＇foreigners＇）. Second, across different topographic habitats, species should perform best in the habitat on which they specialize （＇home＇） compared to other habitats （＇away＇）. Species＇ performance was estimated using growth and mortality rates. Results： In hierarchical models with species identity as a random effect, we found no evidence of a demographic advantage to resident species. Indeed, growth rates were most often higher for foreign species. Similarly, comparisons of species on their home vs. away habitats revealed no sign of a performance advantage on the home habitat. Conclusions＂ We reject the hypothesis that species distributions along a ridge-valley catena at Korup are caused by species differences in trees _〉1 cm dbh. Since there must be a demographic cause for habitat specialization, we offer three alternatives. First, the demographic advantage specialists have at home occurs at the reproductive or seedling stage, in sizes smaller than we census in the forest plot. Second, species may have higher performance on their preferred habitat when density is low, but when population builds up, there are negative density-dependent feedbacks that reduce performance. Third, demographic filtering may be produced by extreme environmental conditions that we did not observe during the census interval.

Sustainable development denotes the enhancement ofliving standards in the present without compromising future generations'*** Development Goals(SDGs)quantify the accomplishment of sustainable development and pave the way for a world worth living in for future *** can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs by guiding the actions of practitioners based on the analysis of SDG data,as intended by this *** propose a framework of algorithms based on dimensionality reduction methods with the use of Hilbert Space Filling Curves(HSFCs)in order to semantically cluster new uncategorised SDG data and novel indicators,and efficiently place them in the environment of a distributed knowledge graph ***,a framework of algorithms for insertion of new indicators and projection on the HSFC curve based on their transformer-based similarity assessment,for retrieval of indicators and loadbalancing along with an approach for data classification of entrant-indicators is ***,a thorough case study in a distributed knowledge graph environment experimentally evaluates our *** results are presented and discussed in light of theory along with the actual impact that can have for practitioners analysing SDG data,including intergovernmental organizations,government agencies and social welfare *** approach empowers SDG knowledge graphs for causal analysis,inference,and manifold interpretations of the societal implications of SDG-related actions,as data are accessed in reduced retrieval *** facilitates quicker measurement of influence of users and communities on specific goals and serves for faster distributed knowledge matching,as semantic cohesion of data is preserved.

Hepatitis e virus(HeV)is a global health problem,affecting about 20 million people *** is significant overlap of hepatitis B virus(HBV)and HeV endemicity in many Asian countries where dual infections with HeV and HBV can *** the clinical course of HeV is largely self-limited,HeV superinfection in patients with chronic hepatitis B(CHB)can result in acute exacerbation of underlying *** superinfection in patients with CHB-related cirrhosis has been identified as a risk factor for decompensated cirrhosis and an independent predictor of *** acute HeV infection in pregnancy can cause fulminant liver failure,the few studies on pregnant patients with dual HBV and HeV infection have shown a subclinical *** is a risk factor for the development of chronic HeV infection,which can be managed by decreasing the dose of immune-suppressants and administering *** for HeV has been developed and is in use in China but its efficacy in patients with CHB has yet to be established in the *** this review,we appraise studies on dual infection with HeV and HBV,including the effect of HeV superinfection and coinfection in CHB,management strategies used and the role of active vaccination in the prevention of HeV.
