Glaucoma drainage device implantation and cyclophotocoagulation in the management of refractory glaucoma after Descemet-stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty

AIM:To compare the surgical outcomes of glaucoma drainage device implantation(GDI)and trans-scleral neodymium:YAG cyclophotocoagulation(CPC)in the management of refractory glaucoma after Descemetstripping automated endothelial keratoplasty(DSAEK).METHODS:This retrospective study on observational case series enrolled 29 patients who underwent DSAEK and posterior anti-glaucoma surgery(15 with GDI and 14 with CPC).The main outcome measures were intraocular pressure(IOP),glaucoma surgery success rate(defined as IOP of 6–21 mm Hg without additional anti-glaucoma operation),number of glaucoma medications,endothelial graft status,and best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA).RESULTS:The mean follow-up time was 34.1 and 21.0mo for DSAEK or glaucoma surgeries,both for the GDI and CPC *** groups showed significant IOP reduction after glaucoma *** GDI group presented a significantly higher success rate in IOP control than the CPC group(60%vs 21.4%,P=0.03).Both procedures significantly decreased the number of glaucoma medications(P=0.03).Forty percent and 57%of cases in the GDI and the CPC group,respectively,experienced endothelial graft failure during follow-up(P=0.36).Significantly worse BCVA after surgery was observed in the CPC group but not in the GDI ***:Both GDI and CPC significantly decrease IOP in eyes with glaucoma after *** is preferable to CPC in refractory glaucoma cases after DSAEK,as it manifests a significantly higher success rate for IOP control,similar endothelial graft failure rate,and relatively preserves BCVA than CPC.

Destructive effects on endothelial cells of grafts in cytomegalovirus DNA-positive patients after keratoplasty

AIM:To investigate corneal graft survival rate and endothelial cell density(ECD)loss after keratoplasty in cytomegalovirus(CMV)positive ***:This was a retrospective cohort *** analyzed the clinical data of patients who underwent viral DNA detection in aqueous humor/corneal tissue collected during keratoplasty from March 2015 to December 2018 at the Peking University Third Hospital,Beijing,*** further evaluate the effect of CMV on graft survival rate and ECD loss,patients were divided into three groups:1)CMV DNA positive(CMV+)group;2)viral DNA negative(virus-)group,comprising virus-group eyes pairwise matched to eyes in the CMV+group according to ocular comorbidities;3)control group,comprising virus-group eyes without ocular *** follow-up indicators including graft survival rate,ECD,ECD loss,and central corneal thickness(CCT),were analyzed by Tukey honestly significant difference(HSD)***:Each group included 29 *** graft survival rate in CMV+group were lowest among the three groups(P=0.000).No significant difference in donor graft ECD was found among three groups(P=0.54).ECD in the CMV+group was lower than the virus-group at 12(P=0.009),and 24mo(P=0.002)after ***,ECD loss was higher in the CMV+group than in the virus-group in the middle stage(6-12mo)postkeratoplasty(P=0.017),and significantly higher in the early stage(0-6mo)in the virus-group than in the control group(P=0.000).CONCLUSION:CMV reduces the graft survival rate and exerts persistent detrimental effects on the ECD after *** graft ECD loss associate with CMV infection mainly occurrs in the middle stage(6-12mo postoperatively),while ocular comorbidities mainly affects ECD in the early stage(0-6mo postoperatively).

Energy consumption optimization for edge computing-supported cellular networks based on optimal transport theory

With advancements in mobile communication technologies, there have been multiple user device(UD) connections to cellular networks. Because of changes in the spatial distribution of UDs and application requirements, the traditional offloading mechanism based on the nearest distance will result in heavy loads for some base stations(BSs). Because there is a high-order relationship between the energy consumption of the BS processing tasks and the number of computing tasks, the traditional offloading mechanism will result in high energy consumption, and UD’s offloading decision must be dynamically adjusted. The offloading decision of UDs is optimized based on detailed information about various parameters associated with a network from the standpoint of distribution. This information includes details regarding the spatial distribution of UDs,application requirements, and the offloading period of computing tasks. Based on optimal transport theory,an energy consumption optimization algorithm is suggested to lower the total amount of energy consumed by the offloading process of UDs’ computing tasks by reasonably planning the offloading BSs of the UDs in the networks. The simulation results show that the proposed offloading mechanism based on energy consumption optimization reduces the total energy consumption of the offloading process by 28.09% when compared to the traditional offloading mechanism, and the traffic managed by each BS is balanced.

Visualization of MF/Diesel RCCI Combustion Process and Soot Emission

Based on the optical engine,the ignition characteristics,combustion process and soot emission characteristics of diesel under different 2-Methylfuran(MF) atmospheres were investigated by high-speed photography and in-cylinder combustion analysis *** results show that at the same main injection timing,the ignition time of reactivity controlled compression ignition(RCCI) combustion mode is earlier than pure diesel combustion,and the ignition point is concentrated near the *** acts as a spark plug to ignite the mixture,but the flame develops slowly in the early stages and the pressure in the cylinder rises *** with pure diesel,RCCI combustion model has smaller peak values of in-cylinder pressure and heat release rate,shorter ignition delay period,earlier combustion phase and shorter combustion *** main spray time at 6℃A BTDC and 12℃A BTDC,with the increase of MF premixing ratio from 0 to 0.75,the peak cylinder pressure decreased by 19.6% and 26% *** addition,with the increase of the MF heat value ratio,the area of KL factor> 1.5 in the combustion chamber decreased and the space integral natural luminescence(SINL) peak value decreased by 48.37%,and the soot formation rate and yield decreased ***,when the MF heat value ratio was too large(75% of the total calorific value),the ignition delay period increased,and misfire occurred at the main injection timing of 0℃A *** RCCI mode of MF/diesel dual fuel has better stability,and better control effect can be obtained at different main inj ection timing.

Evaluation of teplizumab's efficacy and safety in treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus:A systematic review and meta-analysis

BACKGROUND Islets of Langerhans beta cells diminish in autoimmune type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM).Teplizumab,a humanized anti-CD3 monoclonal antibody,may help *** long-term implications on clinical T1DM development,safety,and efficacy are *** To assess the effectiveness and safety of teplizumab as a therapeutic intervention for individuals with *** A systematic search was conducted using four electronic databases(PubMed,Embase,Scopus,and Cochrane Library)to select publications published in peerreviewed journals written in *** odds ratio(OR)and risk ratio(RR)were calculated,along with their 95%*** assessed heterogeneity using Cochrane Q and I2 statistics and the appropriate P *** There were 8 randomized controlled trials(RCTs)in the current meta-analysis with a total of 1908 T1DM patients from diverse age cohorts,with 1361 patients receiving Teplizumab and 547 patients receiving a *** was found to have a substantial link with a decrease in insulin consumption,with an OR of 4.13(95%CI:1.72 to 9.90).Teplizumab is associated with an improved Cpeptide response(OR 2.49;95%CI:1.62 to 3.81)and a significant change in Glycated haemoglobin A1c(HbA1c)levels in people with type 1 diabetes[OR 1.75(95%CI:1.03 to 2.98)],and it has a RR of 0.71(95%CI:0.53 to 0.95).CONCLUSION In type 1 diabetics,teplizumab decreased insulin consumption,improved C-peptide response,and significantly changed HbA1c levels with negligible side *** appears to improve glycaemic control and diabetes management with good safety and efficacy.

The Mass Assembly History for Galaxies with MaNGA

How galaxies assemble masses through their own star formation or interaction with the external environment is still an important topic in the field of galaxy formation and *** use Value Added Catalogs with galaxy features that are spatially and temporally resolved from Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 17 to investigate the mass growth histories of early-type galaxies(ETGs)and late-type galaxies(LTGs).We find that the mass growth of ETGs is earlier than that of LTGs for massive galaxies(M_(*)>10^(10)M_⊙),while low-mass(M_(*)≤10^(10)M_⊙)ETGs have statistically similar mass assembly histories as low-mass *** stellar metallicity of all massive galaxies shows a negative gradient and basically does not change with ***,in low-mass galaxies,the stellar metallicity gradient of elliptical galaxies is negative,and the stellar metallicity gradient of lenticular and spiral galaxies evolves from positive to *** are not all in a high-density environment,but exhibit mass *** the tidal strength increases,the star formation rate of low-mass ETGs rapidly *** results support a picture where massive galaxies exhibit inside-out quenching mode,while low-mass galaxies show outside-in quenching *** effects play an important role in regulating the mass assembly histories of low-mass ETGs.

Bright InP quantum dots by Ga-doping for red emitters

Environment-friendly indium phosphide(InP)-based quantum dots(QDs)with efficient red-emitting properties are sufficiently needed to satisfy the requirement of burgeoning display and lighting ***,the syntheses of InP QDs using tris(trimethylsilyl)phosphine as the precursor are highly toxic and ***,we successfully introduced gallium(Ga)ions into tris(dimethylamino)phosphine-based red InP cores through thermally-promoted cation exchange,and the obtained Ga-doped InP cores exhibited significantly increased photoluminescence quantum yields(PLQY)of up to 26%.The existence of Ga was directly confirmed by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and the functions of Ga were systematically *** subsequent coating of Ga-doped InP cores with ZnSeS and ZnS shells,the resulting Ga-InP/ZnSeS/ZnS QDs achieved a high PLQY of 62%with an emission maximum at 640 *** contrast,without Ga-doping,the PLQY only attained 36%using the same synthetic *** indicated an approximate 1.7-fold increase in *** enhancement of photoluminescence was related to the Ga^(3+),as it not only passivated surface defects of InP cores but also reduced core–shell interface *** Ga-InP/ZnSeS/ZnS QDs exhibited good stability towards heat treatment and ultraviolet(UV)***,the red light-emitting diode(LED)based on Ga-InP/ZnSeS/ZnS QDs performed well in a wide injected current range of 2 to 200 mA,with a maximum power efficiency of 0.68 lm/*** work showcases Ga-doping through cation exchange as a promising strategy for enhancing the efficiency of InP-based red emitters.

Lightweight,Strong and High Heat-Resistant Poly(lactide acid)Foams via Microcellular Injection Molding with Self-Assembly Nucleating Agent

Poly(lactide acid)(PLA)foams have shown considerable promise as eco-friendly alternatives to nondegradable plastic foams,such as polystyrene(PS)***,PLA foam typically suffers from low heat-resistance and poor cellular structure stemming from its inherent slow crystallization rate and low melt *** this study,a high-performance PLA foam with well-defined cell morphology,exceptional strength and enhanced heat-resistance was successfully fabricated via a core-back microcellular injection molding(MIM)*** scanning calorimetry(DSC)results revealed that the added hydrazine-based nucleating agent(HNA)significantly increased the crystallization temperature and accelerated the crystallization process of ***,the addition of a 1.5 wt%of HNA led to a significant reduction in PLA’s cell size,from 43.5µm to 2.87µm,and a remarkable increase in cell density,from 1.08×10^(7)cells/cm^(3)to 2.15×10^(10)cells/cm^(3).This enhancement resulted in a final crystallinity of approximately 55.7%for the PLA blend foam,a marked improvement compared to the pure PLA ***,at 1.5 wt%HNA concentration,the tensile strength and tensile toughness of PLA blend foams demonstrated remarkable improvements of 136%and 463%,***,the Vicat softening temperature of PLA blend foam increased significantly to 134.8°C,whereas the pure PLA foam exhibited only about 59.7℃.These findings underscore the potential for the preparation of lightweight injection-molded PLA foam with enhanced toughness and heat-resistance,which offers a viable approach for the production of high-performance PLA foams suitable for large-scale applications.
