This study analyses the effect of browning through image analysis based on colour and textural features in fresh-cut apple slices.A computer vision system(cVS)was developed for image acquisition,which consisted of a digital camera and a florescent lamp source for illumination with a contrasting *** cVS was calibrated using standard colour values and a model was developed by artificial neural network *** varieties of apples such as Honey crisp,Granny Smith,and Golden Delicious were used for the *** apples were freshly cut and subjected to image *** colour features(L*,browning index,hue,and colour change)and textural features(entropy,contrast,and homogeneity)were analysed from the acquired *** varieties Honey crisp and Granny Smith did undergo browning within 120 min,whereas Golden delicious did not brown *** study concluded that colour and textural features were important decision features for detecting browning in apples through image analysis.

Understanding the impacts of climate change in agriculture is important to ensure optimal and continuous crop *** agricultural sector plays a significant role in the economy of Upper Midwestern states in the USA,especially that of North Dakota(ND).Spring wheat contributes most of the wheat production in ND,which is a major producer of wheat in the *** study focuses on assessing possible impacts of three climate variables on spring wheat yield in ND by building a regression ***-five years of field data were collected and the trend of average minimum temperature along with average maximum temperature,average precipitation,and spring wheat yield was analyzed using Mann-Kendall *** study area was divided into 9 divisions based on physical *** minimum temperature plays an important role in the region as it impacts the physiological development of the *** trend was noticed for 6 divisions for average minimum temperature and average precipitation during growing *** and Southeast division showed the strongest increasing trend for average minimum temperature and average precipitation,***-central division had the most decreasing trend for average maximum temperature.A significant relationship was established between spring wheat yield and climatic parameters as the p-value is lower than 0.05 level which rejects the null *** regression model was tested for forecasting *** percentage deviation of error for the model is approximately±30%in most of the years.

Efficient utilization of a residential photovoltaic (PV) array with grid connection is difficult due to power fluctuation and geographical dispersion. Reliable energy management and control system are required for overcoming these obstacles. This study provides a new residential energy management system (REMS) based on the convolution neural network (cNN) including PV array environment. The cNN is used in the estimation of the nonlinear relationship between the residence PV array power and meteorological datasets. REMS has three main stages for the energy management such as forecasting, scheduling, and real functioning. A short term forecasting strategy has been performed in the forecasting stage based on the PV power and the residential load. A coordinated scheduling has been utilized for minimizing the functioning cost. A real-time predictive strategy has been used in the actual functioning stage to minimize the difference between the actual and scheduled power consumption of the building. The proposed approach has been evaluated based on real-time power and meteorological data sets.

BAcKGROUND： Diagnostic parameters that can predict the presence of chronic pancreatitis（cP） in patients with recurrent pain due to pancreatitis would help to direct appropriate therapy. This study aimed to compare the serum levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1（McP-1）, transforming growth factor-β1（TGF-β1）, nerve growth factor（NGF）, resistin and hyaluronic acid（HA） in patients with recurrent acute pancreatitis（RAP） and cP to assess their ability to differentiate the two ***： Levels of serum markers assessed by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay（ELISA） were prospectively compared in consecutive patients with RAP, cP and in controls and stepwise discriminant analysis was performed to identify the markers differentiating RAP from ***： One hundred and thirteen consecutive patients（RAP=32, cP=81） and 78 healthy controls were prospectively enrolled. The mean（SD） age of the patients was 32.0（14.0）years; 89（78.8%） were male. All markers were significantly higher in cP patients than in the controls（P〈0.001）; McP-1NGF and HA were significantly higher in RAP patients than in the controls（P〈0.001）. Stepwise discriminant analysis showed significant difference（P=0.002） between RAP and cP for resistin with an accuracy of 61.9%, discriminant scores of ≤-0.479 and ≥0.189 indicating RAP and cP, respectively. The other markers had no differential value between RAP and ***： Serum resistin is a promising marker to differentiate between RAP and cP and needs validation in future studies, especially in those with early cP.

AIM To compare two tests for exocrine pancreatic function(EPF) for use in M-ANNHEIM staging for pancreatitis. METHODS One hundred and ninety four consecutive patients with acute pancreatitis(AP; n = 13), recurrent acute pancreatitis(RAP; n = 65) and chronic pancreatitis(cP; n = 116) were enrolled. EPF was assessed by faecal elastase-1(FE-1) estimation and stool fat excretion by the acid steatocrit method. Patients were classified as per M-ANNHEIM stages separately based on the results of the two tests for comparison. Independent Student's t-test, χ~2 test, Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test and Mc Nemar's test were used as appropriate. RESULTS Sixty-one(52.5%) patients with cP had steatorrhoea when assessed by the acid steatocrit method; 79 (68.1%) with cP had exocrine insufficiency by the FE-1 test(χ~2 test, P cid steatocrit and FE-1 showed a significant negative correlation(Spearman's rho =-0.376, P cally significant difference was seen between the M-ANNHEIM stages as classified separately by acid steatocrit and the FE-1. Thirteen(6.7%), 87(44.8%), 89(45.8%) and 5(2.5%) patients were placed in M-ANNHEIM stages 0,?Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ respectively, with the use of acid steatocrit as against 13(6.7%), 85(43.8%), 75(38.6%), and 21(10.8%) respectively by FE-1 in stages 0,?Ⅰ, Ⅱ, and Ⅲ thereby altering the stage in 28(14.4%) patients(P c Nemar's test). cONcLUSION FE-1 estimation performed better than the acid steatocrit test for use in the staging of pancreatitis by the M-ANNHEIM classification since it diagnosed a higher proportion of patients with exocrine insufficiency.

Impact of climate Variability on Yield of Spring Wheat in North Dakota

Agricultural production is highly dependent on the climatic variability of the specific regions. Differential climatic and soil conditions bring about changes in yield, quality of crops thus affecting the economy. This study evaluated the impact of variability in different climatic factors keeping the other factors constant on spring wheat production in North Dakota from 2007 to 2011. The spring wheat yield mainly depends on the climatic changes during growing periods April to September. Average maximum air temperature was significantly different from April to September except June from 2007 to 2011. High average minimum and maximum air temperatures during planting time increase yield and planting area for 2010. In 2011, low mean soil temperature, excess rainfall in April caused low yield of spring wheat. The unmitigated climate variability will result in declines in yields. So, adoption of sustainable agriculture practices helps the farmers to develop the different practices for their farms.

With increasing incidence of diabetes, use of diabetes specific nutrition supplements (DSNS) is common for better management of the disease. To study effect of 12-week DSNS supplementation on glycemic markers, anthropometry, lipid profile, ScFAs, and gut microbiome in individuals with diabetes. Markers studied were glycemic [Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG), Post Prandial Glucose (PPG), HbA1c, Incremental Area under curve (iAUc), Mean Amplitude of Glycemic Excursions (MAGE), Time in/above Range (TIR/TAR)], anthropometry [weight, Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference (Wc)], lipid profile, diet and gut health [plasma short chain fatty acids (ScFAs)]. N = 210 adults were randomized to receive either DSNS with standard care (DSNS + Sc;n = 105) or standard care alone (Sc alone;n = 105). After 12 weeks, significant differences between DSNS + Sc versus Sc alone was observed in FBG [−3 ± 6 vs 14 ± 6 mg/dl;p = 0.03], PPG [−35 ± 9 vs −3 ± 9 mg/dl;p = 0.01], weight [−0.6 ± 0.1 vs 0.2 ± 0.1 kg;p = 0.0001], BMI [−0.3 ± 0.1 vs 0.1 ± 0.1 kg/m2;p = 0.0001] and Wc [−0.3 ± 0.2 vs 0.2 ± 0.2 cm;p = 0.01]. HbA1c and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) were significantly reduced in DSNS + Sc [−0.2 ± 0.9;p = 0.04 and −5 mg/dl;p = 0.03] respectively with no change in control. continuous Glucose Monitoring (cGM) reported significant differences between DSNS + Sc versus Sc alone for mean glucose [−12 ± 65 vs 28 ± 93 mg/dl;p c [−192 (1.1) vs −48 (1.1) mg/dl;p = 0.03]. Weed Recognition Using Image-Processing Technique Based on Leaf Parameters

Weeds normally grow in patches and spatially distributed in field. Patch spraying to control weeds has advantages of chemical saving, reduced cost and environmental pollution. Advent of electro-optical sensing capabilities has paved the way of using machine vision technologies for patch spraying. Machine vision system has to acquire and process digital images to make control decisions. Proper identification and classification of objects present in image holds the key to make control decisions and use of any spraying operation performed. Recognition of objects in digital image may be affected by background, intensity, image resolution, orientation of the object and geometrical characteristics. A set of 16, including 11 shape and 5 texture-based parameters coupled with predictive discriminating analysis has been used to identify the weed leaves. Geometrical features were indexed successfully to eliminate the effect of object orientation. Linear discriminating analysis was found to be more effective in correct classification of weed leaves. The classification accuracy of 69% to 80% was observed. These features can be utilized for development of image based variable rate sprayer.
