Induced structural modifications in ZnS nanowires via physical state of catalyst:Highlights of 15R crystal phase

Peculiar and unique growth mechanisms involved in semiconductor nanowires(NWs)pave the way to the achievement of new crystallographic phases and remarkable material properties,and hence,studying polytypism in semiconductor NWs arouses a strong interest for the next generation of electronic and photonic *** this context,the growth of ZnS nanowires has been investigated,as bulk ZnS compound exhibits numerous unstable polytypes at high temperatures,but their stable occurrence is highly anticipated in a nanowire due to its special quasi-dimensional shape and growth *** this work,the idea is to provide a change in the growth mechanism via the physical state of catalyst droplet(liquid or solid)and hence,study the induced structural modifications in ZnS *** HRTEM images of VLS(via liquid alloyed catalyst)grown ZnS NWs show periodic stacking faults,which is precisely identified as a stacking sequence of cubic or hexagonal individual planes leading to an astonishing 15R crystal *** crystallographic phase is observed for the first time in ***,NWs grown with VSS(via solid catalyst)show crystal polytypes of zinc blende and *** calculate and discuss the role of cohesive energies in the formation of such ZnS ***,we present the selection rules for the crystallization of such 15R structure in NWs and discuss the involved VLS and VSS growth mechanisms leading to the formation of different crystal phases.

When it comes to e-commerce,consumer trust and vendor reputation are often *** traditional face-to-face market,exchanges in the online environment generate transaction risks such as product quality uncertainty or *** risks are all the more intensified in the Chinese online ***,Chinese vendors are often criticized as fraudsters even on traditional *** consumers assume that the risks would be higher on a marketplace without physical interaction and the need to develop more reputational systems becomes *** purpose of this thesis is to evaluate the impact of reputational systems such as online feedbacks（ratings and reviews）on consumer trust and analyze to what extent the implementation of such systems influences the purchasing intention of customers and in turn enhances customer trust in a particular *** an empirical research,I investigated consumers’ familiarity and attitude towards ratings and reviews systems.A survey was conducted as the research strategy and primary data were collected through a *** results of the research show that on the Chinese electronic market,ratings and reviews play a significant part in consumer/vendor *** are positively influenced by positive ratings or ***,a low amount of reviews or a presence of negative reviews durably impacts any future business *** order to create a trustworthier marketplace,vendors need to interact more with consumers and compensate the physical interaction missing on the online marketplace with tools such as instant messaging applications.

Background:The most used protein sources in ruminant nutrition are considered as having negative impacts in terms of environmental sustainability and competition with human ***,the investigation of alternative and sustainable feedstuffs is becoming a priority in ruminant production ***:This trial was designed to evaluate eight full-fat insect meals(Acheta domesticus–ACD;Alphitobius diaperinus–ALD;Blatta lateralis–BL;Gryllus bimaculatus–GB;Grylloides sygillatus–GS;Hermetia illucens–HI;Musca domestica–MD;and Tenebrio molitor–TM)as potential protein and lipid sources in ruminant *** parameters and fatty acids(FA)of rumen digesta after 24-h in vitro ruminal incubation of the tested insect meals were measured and compared with those of three plant-based meals(soybean meal,rapeseed meal and sunflower meal)and fishmeal(FM).Similarly to FM,the insect meals led to a significantly lower total gas production(on average,1.75vs.4.64 mmol/g dry matter-DM),methane production(on average,0.33 vs.0.91 mmol/g DM),volatile FA production(on average,4.12 vs.7.53 mmol/g DM),and in vitro organic matter disappearance(on average,0.32 vs.0.59 g/g)than those observed for the plant *** insect meals also led to lower ammonia of rumen fluid,when expressed as a proportion of total N(on average,0.74 vs.0.52 for the plant and insect meals,respectively),which could be an advantage provided that intestinal digestibility is *** in ruminal fermentation parameters between the insect meals could be partially explained by their chitin,crude protein and ether extract contents,as well as by their FA *** particular,high content of polyunsaturated FA,or C12:0(in HI),seems to partially inhibit the ruminal ***:The tested full-fat insect meals appear to be potentially an interesting protein and lipid source for ruminants,alternative to the less sustainable and commonly used ones of plant *** FA profile of the rum

Blocking the Metabolism of Starch Breakdown Products in Arabidopsis Leaves Triggers Chloroplast Degradation

In most plants, a large fraction of photo-assimilated carbon is stored in the chloroplasts during the day as starch and remobilized during the subsequent night to support metabolism. Mutations blocking either starch synthesis or starch breakdown in Arabidopsis thaliana reduce plant growth. Maltose is the major product of starch breakdown exported from the chloroplast at night. The maltose excess 1 mutant （mex1）, which lacks the chloroplast envelope maltose transporter, accumulates high levels of maltose and starch in chloroplasts and develops a distinctive but previously unexplained chlorotic phenotype as leaves mature. The introduction of additional mutations that prevent starch synthesis, or that block maltose production from starch, also prevent chlorosis of mex1. In contrast, introduction of mutations in disproportionating enzyme （DPE1） results in the accumulation of maltotriose in addition to maltose, and greatly increases chlorosis. These data suggest a link between maltose accumulation and chloroplast homeostasis. Microscopic analyses show that the mesophyll cells in chlorotic mex1 leaves have fewer than half the number of chloroplasts than wild-type cells. Transmission electron microscopy reveals autophagy-like chloroplast degradation in both mex1 and the dpe1/mex1 double mutant. Microarray analyses reveal substantial reprogramming of metabolic and cellular processes, suggesting that organellar protein turnover is increased in mex1, though leaf senescence and senescence-related chlorophyll catabolism are not induced. We propose that the accumulation of maltose and malto-oligosaccharides causes chloroplast dysfunction, which may by signaled via a form of retrograde signaling and trigger chloroplast degradation.

Adenoma and advanced neoplasia detection rates increase from 45 years of age

BACKGROUND Colonoscopy is considered a valid primary screening tool for colorectal cancer(CRC). The decreasing risk of CRC observed in patients undergoing colonoscopy is correlated with the adenoma detection rate(ADR). Due to the fact that screening programs usually start from the age of 50, very few data are available on the risk of adenoma between 40 and 49 years. However, the incidence of CRC is increasing in young populations and it is not uncommon in routine practice to detect adenomas or even advanced neoplasia during colonoscopy in patients under 50 *** To compare the ADR and advanced neoplasia detection rate(ANDR) according to age in a large series of patients during routine *** All consecutive patients who were scheduled for colonoscopy were *** criteria were as follows: patients scheduled for partial colonoscopy or interventional colonoscopy(for stent insertion or stenosis dilation).Colonoscopies were performed in our unit by a team of 30 gastroenterologists in2016. We determined the ADR and ANDR in each age group in the whole population and in the population with an average risk of CRC(excluding patients with personal or family history of advanced adenoma or cancer).RESULTS6027 colonoscopies were performed in patients with a median age of 57 years(range, 15-96). The ADR and ANDR were 28.6% and 9.7%, respectively, in the whole population. When comparing patients aged 40-44(n = 382) and 45-49 years (n = 515), a strong increase in all parameters from 45 years was observed, with the ADR rising from 9.7% in patients aged 40-44 to 21.2% between 45 and 49(P <0.001) and the ANDR increasing from 3.1% in patients aged 40-44 to 6.4% in those aged 45-49 years(P < 0.03). With regard to patients aged 50-54(n = 849), a statistically significant increase in the ADR and ANDR was not observed between patients aged 45-49 and those aged 50-54 years. Pre-malignant processes of smoking-induced lung adenocarcinoma development: A conceptual biological model

Chronic exposure to cigarette smoke is the leading cause of human lung cancer and its most prevalent form, adenocarcinoma. However, the mechanisms by which smoking induces adenocarcinoma are largely inferred from the analysis of fully developed tumors. The current work focuses on the early events that precede the existence of clinically detectable tumors and where the progressive mechanisms are believed to be different from the ones driving established tumor growth. Biological information was drawn from the literature and generalized into a conceptual model, or framework, which describes and integrates the main processes involved in the early stages of smoking-induced lung adenocarcinoma development. No such integrative representation currently exists. The biological framework presented here is based on the “field of injury” of the lung. It covers the smoking-induced stepwise transition of unexposed (naive) lung tissue to the first appearance of neoplastic cells through defined tissue states referred to as pre-field and field. Each tissue state exhibits its own formalized characteristics (or phenotype properties), which evolve as a result of the combined effects of smoking, the interactions between the different tissue properties, and the local environment represented in the framework as lung inflammation and immune surveillance. The resulting network of influences between the lung tissue states and properties provides a good understanding of the early events involved in lung adenocarcinoma triggered by smoking. The resulting conceptual model—an integrative mechanistic hypothesis—can explain a broad range of cigarette smoking and smoking cessation scenarios.
