Querétaro-Celaya highway is the obligatory road to the center of Mexico;the establishment of new companies in the area has generated the need to study the dynamics of the vehicular flow that transits this route.Given that the flow of traffic on a highway is a stochastic phenomenon,it is necessary to apply tools that take into account the randomness of the system to measure performance.Queueing theory models capture the random nature of the phenomenon and provide direct information about the relationship between the variables of the system.In this work,the flow of vehicles on the Querétaro-Celaya highway is analyzed with a macroscopic approach and using analytical models of queueing theory;it is concluded that currently the flow on this road is non-congested.The method is an alternative for institutions that do not have specialized packages to carry out studies of this nature.

BACKGROUnD Blink and masseter reflexes provide reliable,quantifiable data on the function of the central nervous system:Delayed latencies have been found in patients with neurocognitive disorder(nD)and type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM),but this has not been studied in patients with both pathologies.AIM To investigate if older adults with nD plus T2DM have prolonged latencies of blink and masseter-reflex and if they were associated with disease progression.METHODs This cross-sectional study included 227 older adults(>60 years)from Colima,Mexico.neurocognitive disorder was identified by a neuropsychological battery test,and T2DM identified by medical history,fasting glucose,and glycosylated hemoglobin.Latencies in the early reflex(R1),ipsilateral late(R2),and contralateral late(R2c)components of the blink reflex were analyzed for all subjects,and 183 subjects were analyzed for latency of the masseter reflex.REsULTs In 20.7%of participants,nD was detected.In 37%,T2DM was detected.Latencies in R1,R2,and R2c were significantly prolonged for groups with nD plus T2DM,nD,and T2DM,compared with the control group(Psseter reflex was only prolonged in older adults(regardless of T2DM status)with nD vs controls(P=0.030).In older adults with nD and without T2DM,the more the cognitive impairment progressed,the more prolonged latencies in R2 and R2c presented(PnCLUsIOn These findings suggest that blink and masseter reflexes could be used to evaluate possible changes in brainstem circuits in older adults with nD and T2DM.

The most frequent cause of pseudomembranous colitis is Clostridium difficile(C.difficile) infection.This type of colitis is characterized by an endoscopic pattern of numerous small,yellowish or whitish plaques diffusely distributed,which typically compromises the rectum extending to proximal colon.Occasionally,the pseudomembranes compromise only the transverse or right colon,but their exclusive localization over polyps has not been reported.In this case report we have described a patient with symptoms compatible with C.difficile infection and positive for C.difficile toxigenic culture.Colonoscopy examination showed two small polyps with a whitish surface,and histopathological analysis confirmed them to be pseudomembranes over tubular adenomas.The rest of the colonic mucosa was normal and no other cause was demonstrated.We suggest that this particular distribution might be due to a higher affinity for dysplastic cells such as adenomatous polyps of colon by C.difficile and/or its toxins.

Mortality projections in a population are based on the prior analysis of mortality in a region, hoever, there are populations where data are not available or not reflect its real mortality level, that is, the projections depend on hypothesis strength of previous data. Based on these assumptions, the mathematical method Genova I Maleras 1997 used the most recent data and the model tables from the United nations (Un). This method was applied to a mortality survey of the population of Hidalgo state, Mexico, projecting to year 2030. This method has not been applied in Mexico.
