Peeling off the surface: Pt-decoration of WSe 2 nanoflakes results in exceptional photoelectrochemical HER activity

Photoelectrochemical(PEC)hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)was studied on exfoliated,pristine and Pt-decorated tungsten diselenide(p-WSe_(2))nanoflake samples,using a previously developed microdroplet PEC microscopy *** WSe 2 nanoflakes had well-defined thicknesses as measured by atomic force microscopy,and the Pt nanoparticles(NPs)were deposited by a variable num-ber of atomic layer deposition(ALD)*** exceptionally high photocurrent density of 49.6 mA cm^(−2)(under 220 mW cm^(−2) irradiation)and internal-photon-to-electron-conversion efficiency(∼90%at 550 nm)were demonstrated on these Pt-decorated WSe_(2)(WSe_(2)-Pt)*** Pt NP loading and thickness of WSe_(2) nanoflakes(in the 24–235 nm range)were used to fine-tune their PEC activity for *** found similar charge transfer and surface recombination kinetics of pristine and WSe_(2)-Pt specimens(as assessed by intensity-modulated photocurrent spectroscopy),which indicated significant differences in their bulk properties.X-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopies were performed to identify defect states and quantify the density of states around the valence band of WSe_(2).The elevated temperature of the ALD process and the evolving Pt NP phase conspired to passivate the sub-surface(i.e.,bulk)defects in the WSe_(2) nanoflakes,resulting in their vastly improved PEC performance.

The role of veterinarians in the One Health approach to antimicrobial resistance perspectives in Jordan

This study aims to evaluate the role of Jordanian veterinarians in terms of their knowledge,attitudes and common practices in combating antimicrobial resistance(AMR)and summarize the registered veterinary drugs between *** study data were collected using a standardized questionnaire that focused on the knowledge,attitudes,and practices of Jordanian *** findings were analyzed descriptively;84%of the participants agreed with the statement on the definition of *** majority(95.65%)of participants agreed that AMR is a challenge for the veterinary sector in Jordan and that it should be prioritized over other zoonotic *** 69%of the participants believed that the misuse and overuse of antimicrobials by unqualified,fraudulent,or unauthorized practitioners is the primary reason for the rise of cases associated with AMR and the challenges that accompany *** most common practice among the respondents in this study was to recommend clients(e.g.,farmers and owners)to practice good animal husbandry(80.00%).The study also revealed that there was a significant difference(p=O.015)between attendance at AMR training sessions and the professional sector(private,public,and academic)of the *** study underscores the importance of implementing a continuous education program on AMR so as to enhance the all-round knowledge of veterinarians and improve their advisory *** addition,laws should be enacted to ensure that veterinarians prescribe the correct antimicrobials and to improve surveillance systems for monitoring the use of antimicrobials in veterinary medicine.

Benefits of Fixed Dose Combination of Ramipril/Amlodipine in Hypertensive Diabetic Patients： A Subgroup Analysis of RAMONA Trial

Background： Combination of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and calcium channel blockers has been successfully used in the ant±hypertensive therapy for many years. Fixed dose combinations of ramipril/amlodipine have a benefit effect for patients to achieve target blood pressure （BP）. This study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of fixed dose combinations oframipril and amlodipine （Egiramlon） in hypertensive diabetic patients. Methods： Hypertensive diabetic patients who were enrolled into the RAMONA trial were included in this open, prospective, Phase Ⅳ observational clinical study. Patients had mild-to-moderate hypertension and failed to reach target BP levels through their previous therapy. During the four months of observation, patients took part in three visits （1 st day - visit 1, 1 st month = visit 2, and 4th month = visit 3） where they received a fixed dose combination of 5/5, 5/10, 10/5, or 10/10 nag ramipril/amlodipine, respectively, with the possibly required dose titrations, based on the decision of their attending physician. Target BP for diabetic patients was 〈 140/85 mmHg. BP levels were measured in all visits, by taking two readings at 2-min interval. Laboratory tests including full blood count, renal function test, electrolytes, blood glucose, serum cholesterol, uric acid, triglycerides, liver function test, creatinine kinase, and midstream urinalysis were performed at visit 1 and visit 3. Results： The 6423 patients completed the study. Among these patients, 1276 （19.9%） patients suffered from type 2 diabetes mellitus. The mean age of these diabetic patients was 64.2 ±10.0 years; 707 （55.4%） patients were males. Target BP was achieved by 891 （69.8%） of diabetic patients at visit 3 （primary endpoint）. BP decreased from 157.5/91.3 ±9.6/7.6 mmHg （visit 1） to 130.9/79.6 ± 7.4/5.8 mmHg （visit 3）. As for the secondary endpoint of the study, total cholesterol decreased from 5.50 ±1.13 mmol/L （visit 1 ） to 5.20 ±0.95 mmol/L （P = 0.000）, low-dens

In the beginning of the 1900s,the prevalence of catatonia in inpatient samples was reported to be between 19.5%and 50%.From the mid-1900s,most clinicians thought that catatonia was *** in medical sciences,particularly in the field of neurology,may have reduced the incidence of neurological diseases that present with catatonic features or mitigated their *** active pharmacological and psychosocial treatment methods may have either eliminated or moderated catatonic ***,the relatively narrow descriptive features in modern classifications compared with classical texts and ascribing catatonic signs and symptoms to antipsychotic-induced motor symptoms may have contributed to an apparent decline in the incidence of *** application of catatonia rating scales introduced in the 1990s revealed significantly more symptoms than routine clinical interviews,and within a few years,the notion of the disappearance of catatonia gave way to its unexpected *** systematic investigations have found that,on average,10%of acute psychotic patients present with catatonic *** this editorial,the changes in the incidence of catatonia and the possible underlying causes are reviewed.

Aggressive behavior in patients with psychiatric disorders is attracting increasing research *** reason for this is that psychiatric patients are generally considered more likely to be aggressive,which raises a related question of whether diagnoses of psychiatric disorders predict the prevalence of aggressive *** aggression in psychiatric wards is crucial,because aggressive behavior not only endangers the safety of both patients and staff,but it also extends the hospitalization *** of aggressive behavior also need careful attention to ensure effective treatment *** literature review explores the relationship between aggressive behavior and psychiatric disorders and syndromes(dementia,psychoactive substance use,acute psychotic disorder,schizophrenia,bipolar affective disorder,major depressive disorder,obsessivecompulsive disorder,personality disorders and intellectual disability).The prevalence of aggressive behavior and its underlying risk factors,such as sex,age,comorbid psychiatric disorders,socioeconomic status,and history of aggressive behavior are discussed as these are the components that mostly contribute to the increased risk of aggressive *** tools commonly used to predict and detect aggressive behavior and to differentiate between different forms of aggressive behavior in both research and clinical practice are also *** aggression prevention programs can be developed based on the current findings of the correlates of aggressive behavior in psychiatric patients.

Dual mean Minkowski measures of symmetry for convex bodies

We introduce and study a sequence of geometric invariants for convex bodies in finite-dimensional spaces, which is in a sense dual to the sequence of mean Minkowski measures of symmetry proposed by the second author. It turns out that the sequence introduced in this paper shares many nice properties with the sequence of mean Minkowski measures, such as the sub-arithmeticity and the upper-additivity. More meaningfully, it is shown that this new sequence of geometric invariants, in contrast to the sequence of mean Minkowski measures which provides information on the shapes of lower dimensional sections of a convex body, provides information on the shapes of orthogonal projections of a convex body. The relations of these new invariants to the well-known Minkowski measure of asymmetry and their further applications are discussed as well.

Two-dimensional decaying turbulence in confined geometries

Several interesting phenomena have been observed simulating two-dimensional decaying turbulence in bounded *** this paper,an overview is given about our observations obtained by simulating freely decaying turbulence in different regular polygon shaped containers with no-slip *** these simulations the lattice Boltzmann method has been used as a numerical *** initial Reynolds number based on the container dimension was in the order of 10,*** initial condition was the same in each simulation,therefore,we were able to compare the effect of geometrical constraints on the evolution of relevant physical quantities such as the kinetic energy and the enstrophy.

Global optimum of microstructure parameters in the CMWP line-profile-analysis method by combining Marquardt-Levenberg and Monte-Carlo procedures

Line profile analysis of X-ray and neutron diffraction patterns is a powerful tool for determining the microstructure of crystalline materials. The Convolutional-Multiple-Whole-Profile (CMWP) procedure is based on physical profile functions for dislocations, domain size, stacking faults and twin boundaries. Order dependence, strain anisotropy, hkl dependent broadening of planar defects and peak shape are used to separate the effect of different lattice defect types. The Marquardt-Levenberg (ML) numerical optimiza-tion procedure has been used successfully to determine crystal defect types and densities. However, in more complex cases like hexagonal materials or multiple phases the ML procedure alone reveals uncer-tainties. In a new approach the ML and a Monte-Carlo statistical method are combined in an alternative manner. The new CMWP procedure eliminates uncertainties and provides globally optimized parameters.
