Recently N-glycosylation was found to be required for the postembryonic development and metamorphosis of the holometabolous beetle Tribolium castaneum. However, the role of N-glycosylation in the development of hemimetabolous insects is unknown. To further elucidate the role of N-glycosylation in the development of insects, a functional characterization of the N-glycosylation-related genes (NGRGs) was performed in a model insect for hemimetabolous development, namely the brown planthopper Nilaparvata lugens. In this project, we report the effects of RNAi-mediated silencing of 15 NGRGs on the postembryonic development of N. lugens. Two major observations were made. First, interruption of the early steps of N-glycan processing led to a lethal phenotype during the transition from nymph to adult as was observed in T. castaneum. Second, we report here on an essential function for the α-1,6-fucosyl transferase in the ecdysis event of N. lugens between nymphal instars, since gene-silencing by RNAi led to failure of ecdysis and subsequent mortality of the treated insect.

Limitations and potential design risks when applying empirically derived coal pillar strength equations to real-life mine stability problems

The method of determining coal pillar strength equations from databases of stable and failed case histories is more than 50 years old and has been applied in different countries by different researchers in a range of mining situations. While common wisdom sensibly limits the use of the resultant pillar strength equations and methods to design scenarios that are consistent with the founding database, there are a number of examples where failures have occurred as a direct result of applying empirical design methods to coal pillar design problems that are inconsistent with the founding database. This paper explores the reasons why empirically derived coal pillar strength equations tend to be problem-specific and should be considered as providing no more than a pillar strength ‘‘index." These include the non-consideration of overburden horizontal stress within the mine stability problem, an inadequate definition of supercritical overburden behavior as it applies to standing coal pillars, and the non-consideration of overburden displacement and coal pillar strain limits. All of which combine to potentially complicate and confuse the back-analysis of coal pillar strength from failed cases. A modified coal pillar design representation and model are presented based on coal pillars acting to reinforce a horizontally stressed overburden, rather than suspend an otherwise unstable self-loaded overburden or section, the latter having been at the core of historical empirical studies into coal pillar strength and stability.

目的探讨复合型髋臼骨折围手术期多次静脉使用氨甲环酸(tranexamic acid,TXA)减少失血的有效性和安全性。方法选择2021年9月—2022年12月四川大学华西医院骨科/创伤医学中心收治的复合型髋臼骨折拟行手术患者。按照TXA的不同使用方案,采用随机数字表法随机将纳入患者分为对照组和试验组。观察纳入患者的一般资料、总失血量、术后48 h引流量、隐性失血量、纤溶指标、输血率及静脉血栓事件发生率。结果共纳入患者60例,其中男41例,女19例;每组各30例。两组患者的性别、年龄、体质量指数、手术入路及手术时长比较,差异均无统计学意义(P>0.05)。对照组和试验组的总失血量[(795.90±451.36)vs.(579.70±315.88)mL]、术后48 h引流量[(231.33±130.77)vs.(147.67±73.14)mL]、隐性失血量[(406.23±356.17)vs.(170.30±163.75)mL]、输血率(63.3%vs.36.7%)比较,差异均有统计学意义(P0.05)。所有患者术后均未发生肺栓塞。两组的血红蛋白、红细胞压积均随时间下降(P0.05)。两组的纤维蛋白原、D-二聚体呈现不同变化趋势(P<0.05),且试验组优于对照组。结论对于复合型髋臼骨折围手术期多次静脉使用TXA能有效减少患者总失血量、隐性失血量,减少围手术期输血率,且不增加静脉血栓性疾病发生。

Background:The AbSeS-classification defines specific phenotypes of patients with intra-abdominal infection based on the(1)setting of infection onset(community-acquired,early onset,or late-onset hospital-acquired),(2)presence or absence of either localized or diffuse peritonitis,and(3)severity of disease expression(infection,sepsis,or septic shock).This classification system demonstrated reliable risk stratification in intensive care unit(ICU)patients with intra-abdominal *** study aimed to describe the epidemiology of ICU patients with pancreatic infection and assess the relationship between the components of the AbSeS-classification and ***:This was a secondary analysis of an international observational study(“AbSeS”)investigating ICU patients with intra-abdominal *** patients with pancreatic infection were included in this analysis(n=165).Mortality was defined as ICU mortality within 28 days of observation for patients discharged earlier from the *** with mortality were assessed using logistic regression analysis and reported as odds ratio(OR)and 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The overall mortality was 35.2%(n=58).The independent risk factors for mortality included older age(OR=1.03,95%CI:1.0 to 1.1 P=0.023),localized peritonitis(OR=4.4,95%CI:1.4 to 13.9 P=0.011),and persistent signs of inflammation at day 7(OR=9.5,95%CI:3.8 to 23.9,P<0.001)or after the implementation of additional source control interventions within the first week(OR=4.0,95%CI:1.3 to 12.2,P=0.013).Gramnegative bacteria were most frequently isolated(n=58,49.2%)without clinically relevant differences in microbial etiology between survivors and ***:In pancreatic infection,a challenging source/damage control and ongoing pancreatic inflammation appear to be the strongest contributors to an unfavorable short-term *** this limited series,essentials of the AbSeS-classification,such as the setting of infection onset,diffuse

20世纪90年代以来,全球范围内出现了食利资本主义的现象。由于全球化、持续的技术革命和新自由主义的劳工与社会政策等多重影响,食利资本主义中形成了新兴的大众阶级,即不稳定无产者。与其他阶级相比,不稳定无产者的独特性体现在生产关系、分配关系以及与国家的关系等三个方面。在不稳定的全球经济背景下,不稳定无产者的规模越来越大,不确定性愈加突出,大多数人陷入脆弱的处境。这无疑迎来了重要的转型时刻,在这场转型过程中,基本收入理应扮演重要的角色。基本收入不仅可以在正义、自由和安全这三方面加以证成,在经济上也是可证成的。基本收入当然不是灵丹妙药,但如果一个社会想减少长期的经济与社会的不确定性等弊端,它可能会是一个强有力的办法。

In mammals,plant lectinshave been shown to possess immunomodulatory properties,acting in both the innate and adaptive immune system to modulate the production of mediators of the immune response,ultimately improving host *** present,knowledge of immunomodulatory effects of plant lectins in insects is *** of insect cells with the Orysa sativa lectin,Orysata,was previously reported to induce cell aggregation,mimicking the immune process of *** this project we investigated the potential immunomodulatory effects of this mannose-binding lectin using Drosophila melanogaster S2 *** of the Orysata binding partners on the surface of S2 cells through a pull-down assay andproteomic analysis revealed 221 putative interactors,several of which were immunity-related *** qPCR analysis revealed the upregulation of Toll-and immune deficiency(IMD)-regulated antimicrobial peptides(Drs,Mtk,AttA,and Dpt)and signal transducers(Rel and Hid)belonging to the IMD *** addition,the iron-binding protein Transferrin 3 was identified as a putative interactor for Orysata,and treatment of S2 cells with Orysata was shown to reduce the intracellular iron *** together,we believe these results offer a new perspective on the effects by which plant lectins influence insect cells and contribute to the study of their immunomodulatory properties.

In this paper we show that for an n-Filippov algebra g, the tensor power g ^n-1 is endowed with a structure of anti-symmetric co-representation over the Leibniz algebra g ^n-1. This co-representation is used to define some relative theories for Leibniz n-algebras with n 〉 2 and obtain exact sequences relating them. As a result, we construct a spectral sequence for the Leibniz homology of Filippov algebras.

We present an epidemic model which can incorporate essential biological detail as well as the intrinsic demographic stochastieity of the epidemic process, yet is very simple, enabling rapid generation of a large number of simulations, A deterministic version of the model is also derived, in the limit of infinitely large populations, and a final-size formula for the deterministic model is proved. A key advantage of the model proposed is that it is possible to write down an explicit likelihood functions for it, which enables a systematic procedure for fitting parameters to real incidence data, using maximum likelihood.

Here,an extremely cost-effective and simple method is proposed in order to morphologically selftransform stain less steel from a completely inactive material to a fully operati onal,nanowire-structured,3D anode material for lithium ion *** reagentless process of a single heating step of the plain stainless steel in a partially reduci ng atmosphere,converts the stain less steel into an active anode via metal-selective oxidation,creating vast spinel-structured nanowires directly from the electrochemically in active *** simple process allows the complete utilizati on of the 3D mesh structure as the electrochemically-active spinel nanowires greatly enhance the active surface *** novel material and architecture exhibits high capacities(-1000 mAh/g after-400 cycles),long cycle life(>1100 cycles)and fast rate performance(>2C).Simple modulation of the substrate can result in very high areal and volumetric ***,areal capacities greater than 10 mAh/cm^(2) and volumetric capacities greater than 1400 mAh/cm^(3) can be *** the proposed method,the potential reduction in cost from the use of battery-grade graphite is at least an order of magnitude,with considerable better results achieved in terms of capacity and intrinsic structural benefits of the substrate,which include direct contact of the active material with the current collector,lack of delamination and binder-free *** work provides a new paradigm and a key step in the long route to replace the commercial graphite anode as the next-geneation anode material.
