The Ailaoshan poly-metallic mineralization concentrated area (MCA) consists of the well known Ailaoshan metallogenic belt and adjacent mineral districts and/or deposits. Located in an area of several complex and intersecting tectonic units, the Ailaoshan poly-metallic MCA is controlled by deep crustal and mantle tectonism. Through interpretation of remote sensing images, we identified a large ring structure system that surrounds the MCA. This ring structure encloses regional deep-crustal faults, ductile shear zones, geothermal anomalies, magmatic rocks, and the major mineral deposits, all of which are the reflections of deep tectonic geodynamics that have been long active in this area. Geophysical data indicate that the crust is comprised of relatively stable two or three layers, with some irregular lower-velocity belts. The Moho in the ring sutures occurs as an area of local uplift. There exists an obvious transitional zone between the crust and mantle boundaries. Asthenopheric mantle shows multi-layer upwelling, which indicates multiple events during different geological epochs. It is believed that these mantle events or pulses were responsible for the formation of the regional shear zones, magmatic rocks, and polymetallic orebodies. Furthermore, an integrated metallogenic dynamics model related to the asthenopheric upwelling pulses in the MCA is established, defining events as old as Late Paleozoic.

Honeybees are ectotherms that have the specific ability to control their body temperature to match environmental change. Honeybees, such as Apis mellifera L., can flex and extend their abdomen to transfer heat with the environment. Their folded intersegmental membranes which are distributed in the segments of their abdomen, play key roles in heat transfer with abdominal movements. In this study, a temperature-controlled device was established to simulate varying ambient temperature and the abdominal behaviors of honeybee were investigated. Experimental results show that the folded intersegmental membranes make a considerable difference on the bees＇ heat transfer ability. Bees can achieve temperature equilibrium by moving their abdomen, in this way bees increase convection to achieve temperature equilibrium. The higher the experimental temperature was, the faster the membrane moved and the shorter time required to reach heat balance. The function of folded intersegmental membranes on heat transfer was further elucidated by proposing a convective heat transfer model. The study on thermoregulation mechanism of honeybee abdomen helps explain its strong adaptability to the external environment as well as its defensive behavior against foreign invaders.

Formic acid is considered one of the most economically viable products for electrocatalytic CO_(2)reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR).However,developing highly active and selective electrocatalysts for effective CO_(2)conversion remains a grand ***,we report that structural modulation of the bismuth oxide nanosheet via Zn^(2+)cooperation has a profound positive effect on exposure of the active plane,thereby contributing to high electrocatalytic CO_(2)RR *** obtained Zn-Bi_(2)O_(3)catalyst demonstrates superior selectivity towards formate generation in a wide potential range;a high Faradaic efficiency of 95%and a desirable partial current density of around 20 mA·cm^(-2)are obtained at−0.9 V(*** hydrogen electrode(RHE)).As proposed by density functional theory calculations,Zn substitution is the most energetically feasible for forming and stabilizing the key OCHO*intermediate among the used metal ***,the more negative adsorption energy of OCHO*and the relatively low energy barrier for the desorption of HCOOH*are responsible for the enhanced activity and selectivity.

Serious shuttle effect and sluggish conversion kinetics of lithium polysulfides(LiPSs)have a massive impact on obstructing the practical application of lithium-sulfur(Li-S)*** address such issues,Fe-Nx sites enriched microporous nanoflowers planted with tangled bamboo-like carbon nanotubes(Fe-Nx-C/Fe_(3)C-CNTs NFs)are found to be effective catalytic mediators with strong anchoring capabilities for *** bamboo-like carbon nanotubes catalyzed by Fe_(3)C/Fe entangled each other to form a conductive network,which encloses a flowerlike microporous carbon core with embedded well-dispersed Fe-Nx active *** expected,electrons smoothly transfer along the dense conductive bamboo-like carbon network while the flower-like carbon core consisting of micropores induces the homogeneous distribution of tiny sulfur and favors the lithium ions migration with all ***,Fe-Nx sites strongly trap long-chain LiPSs with chemical anchoring,and catalyze the redox conversion of *** to the aforementioned synergistic effects,the S@Fe-Nx-C/Fe_(3)C-CNTs NFs cathode exhibited a remarkable specific capacity(635 mAh g_(s)^(-1))at 3 C and a favorable capacity decay with 0.04%per cycle even after 400 cycles at 1 C.

With the rapid emergence of wearable devices, flexible lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) are much more needed than ever. Free-standing graphene-based composite paper electrodes with various active materials have appealed wide applications in flexible LIBs. However, due to the prone-to-restacking feature of graphene layers, a long cycle life at high current densities is rather difficult to be achieved. Herein, a unique threedimensional(3D) hierarchically porous NiO micro-flowers/graphene paper(fNiO/GP) electrode is successfully fabricated. The resulting fNiO/GP electrode shows superior long-term cycling stability at high rates(e.g., storage capacity of 359 mAh/g after 600 cycles at a high current density of 1 A/g). The facile 3D porous structure combines both the advantages of the graphene that is highly conductive and flexible to ensure rapid electrons/ions transfer and buffer the volume expansion of NiO during charge/discharge,and of the micro-sized NiO flowers that induces hierarchical between-layer pores ranging from nanomicro meters to promote the penetration of the electrolyte and prevent the re-stacking of graphene layers. Such structural design will inspire future manufacture of a wide range of active materials/graphene composite electrodes for high performance flexible LIBs.

The concept of seismic resilience has received significant attention from academia and industry during the last two decades. Different frameworks have been proposed for seismic resilience assessment of engineering systems at different scales(e.g., buildings, bridges, communities, and cities). Testbeds including Centerville virtual community(CVC), Memphis testbed(MTB), and the virtual city of Turin, Italy(VC-TI) have been developed during the last decade. However, the resilience assessment results of Chinese cities still require calibration based on a unified evaluation model. Therefore, a geographic information system(GIS)-based benchmark model of a medium-sized city located in the southeastern coastal region of China was developed. The benchmark city can be used to compare existing assessment frameworks and calibrate the assessment results. The demographics, site conditions, and potential hazard exposure of the benchmark city, as well as land use and building inventory are described in this paper. Data of lifeline systems are provided, including power, transportation, water, drainage, and natural gas distribution networks, as well as the locations of hospitals, emergency shelters, and schools. Data from past earthquakes and the literature were obtained to develop seismic fragility models, consequence models, and recovery models, which can be used as basic data or calibration data in the resilience assessment process. To demonstrate the completeness of the data included in the benchmark city, a case study on the accessibility of emergency rescue after earthquakes was conducted, and the preliminary results were discussed. The ultimate goal of this benchmark city is to provide a platform for calibrating resilience assessment results and to facilitate the development of resilient cities in China.
