Background Anthonomus grandis grandis is the main cotton pest in the Americas,with the potential to become a pest in other *** insect uses the plant's reproductive organs for feeding,oviposition,and survival strategies in the off-season,sheltering in dry *** study aimed to know the reproductive potential,feeding,longevity,and morphometric characteristics of boll weevils from dry bolls,squares,and *** were obtained from infested squares,dry bolls,and traps installed in cotton fields and the caatinga *** weevil pairs were maintained in the laboratory to assess the oviposition,feeding holes,longevity,and morphometric measurements of the parental and F_(1) *** In the parental generation,boll weevils from traps(the caatinga area and cotton cultivation)showed greater reproductive *** weevils from squares and the caatinga area showed greater feeding activity compared with those from cotton *** rostrum length,thorax+abdomen length,and abdomen width were observed in boll weevils from cotton cultivation and dry *** origin of boll weevils parental generation did not affect progeny emergence *** F_(1) generation of boll weevils showed significant differences in average longevity depending on the origin of different ***,differences in rostrum lengths were observed,with the boll weevils coming from traps installed in cotton cultivation,the caatinga area,and dry bolls being the *** thorax+abdomen length and abdomen width,the highest values were observed in those from the caatinga area and cotton *** It was proven that dry bolls did not affect the reproductive,feeding,and longevity performance of boll weevils,enabling better insect fitness(reproduction and size)in relation to those coming from *** use of dry bolls as off-season shelter is an important survival strategy for the boll weevil.

A three-dimensional mathematical hydrodynamic model associated with surface wave radiation by a floating rectangular box-type structure due to heave,sway,and roll motions in finite water depth is investigated based on small amplitude water wave theory and linear structural *** analytical expressions for the radiation potentials,wave forces,and hydrodynamic coefficients are presented based on matched eigenfunction expansion method(MEFEM).The correctness of the analytical results of wave forces is compared with the construction of a numerical model using the open-source boundary element method code *** addition,the present result is compared with the existing published experimental results available in the *** effects of the different design parameters on the floating box-type rectangular structure are studied by analyzing the vertical wave force,horizontal wave force,torque,added mass,and damping coefficients due to the heave,sway,and roll motions,and the comparison analysis between the forces is also analyzed in ***,the effect of reflection and transmission coefficients by varying the structural width and drafts are analyzed.

Immune response to inactivated bacterial vector carrying the recombinant K39 antigen of Leishmania infantum in mice

BAcKGROUnD Metastatic colorectal cancer(mcRc)treatment has been evolving and increasingly driven by tumor biology and gene expression *** with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)inhibitors(anti-EGFR)represents a promising strategy for patients with RAS wild-type(RAS-wt)mcRc and circulating tumor DnA has emerged as a potential selection ***,we report the case of a RAS-wt mcRc patient who had a successful response to cetuximab *** SUMMARY Our patient was diagnosed with stage IV RAS-wt,microsatellite-stable rectosigmoid junction *** was started on first-line treatment with FOLFIRI and cetuximab and achieved partial response,allowing for a left hepatectomy(R0),followed by post-operative chemotherapy and an anterior resection;progression-free survival(PFS)of 16 months was *** to hepatic and nodal relapse,second-line treatment with FOLFOX and bevacizumab was started with partial response;metastasectomy was performed(R0),achieving a PFS of 11 *** a 15 months anti-EGFR-free interval,FOLFIRI and cetuximab were reintroduced upon disease progression,again with partial response and a PFS of 16 *** extensive hepatic relapse,cetuximab was reintroduced and a marked clinical and analytical improvement was seen,after only one *** status was confirmed on circulating tumor *** patient’s overall survival exceeded 5 *** Our case provides real-world data to support cetuximab rechallenge in later lines of RAS-wt mcRc treatment.

Despite its enormous benefits,mining is respon-sible for intense changes to vegetation and soil ***,after extraction,it is necessary to rehabilitate the mined areas,creating better conditions for the establishment of plant species which is *** study evaluated mineral and organic fertilization on the growth,and carbon and nitrogen(n)metabolism of two crotalaria species[cro-talaria spectabilis(exotic species)and crotalaria maypu-rensis(native species from carajás Mineral Province(cMP)]established on a waste pile from an iron mine in cMP.A control(without fertilizer application)and six fertilization mixtures were tested(i=nPK;ii=nPK+micronutrients;iii=nPK+micronutrients+organic compost;iv=PK;v=PK+micronutrients;vi=PK+micronutrients+organic compost).Fertilization contributed to increased growth of both species,and treatments with nPK and micronutrients had the best results(up to 257%***),while organic fertilization did not show *** crotalaria had a greater number of nodules,higher nodule dry mass,chlorophyll a and b contents and showed free ammonium as the predominant n form,reflecting greater increments in biomass compared to native *** having lower growth,the use of this native species in the rehabilitation of mining areas should be considered,mainly because it has good development and meets current government legislation as an opportunity to restore local biodiversity.

This study aims to apply a methodology to analyze the regulatory obstacles for the development of thermal power plants in a country. The study uses Brazil as an application case, although mostly of the findings can be useful to other countries. It also discusses other policies and actions by the government that may contribute to the growth of natural gas-fired power plants. Using deductive and comparative research methods, the first part of this method focuses on the stage of thermoelectric power generation in Brazil. The subsequent sections present the role of the integration of gas and electricity sectors, the main obstacles to the expansion of natural-gas power generation, how the country has deal with the expansion of natural-gas power generation, as well as how other obstacles has been faced. In raising the research question, when comparing the research results of selected countries, it should be noticed the impact that the experience and lessons elsewhere have had on policies formulation on Brazil. Our conclusions pointed out that adequate policies for the natural gas-electricity Brazilian market integration make advisable the unification of electricity and natural gas agencies. We recommended developing a mathematical model to support decision-making on natural gas and electricity integration.

Polygenic Profile and Magnitude Impact of Inflammatory Response in Soccer Athletes

The practice of soccer involves carrying-out actions of high intensity, which demand a great generation of eccentric strength, which in turn results in an increase in the inflammatory response after training practice and game matches. The study aimed to investigate, in combination and individually, the association of 28 polymorphisms with the inflammatory responses of soccer athletes. The sample consisted of 47 male under-20 soccer athletes who belong to clubs in the first division of Brazilian soccer. Blood samples were collected at Pre, and 03, 24, and 48 hours after the training session to evaluate the inflammatory responses (hematological analyzes (hemogram), creatine phosphokinase (cK), high sensitivity quantitative c-reactive protein (cRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha, (TnFα), interleukin 6 (IL-6) and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1)). DnA was obtained through scraping of buccal cells, where a sterile swab was rubbed on the inner side of the mouth of each participant 06 times. The database was built using the TruSeq DnA PcRFree kit (Illumina®) and the covaris equipment for shearing genomic DnA (gDnA) by ultrasound. Of the analyzed SnPs, 09 (AcTn3 rs1815739, cOL5A1 rs12722, cOL5A1 rs3196378, HGF rs5745697, IGF1 rs35767, IL-6 rs1800795, MMP3 rs679620, SLc30A8 rs13266634, SOX15 rs4227) were individually associated with biomarkers and 07 SnPs, (cOL5A1 rs12722, cOL5A1 rs3196378, cOL5A1 rs1800012, HGF rs5745697, IGF1 rs35767, IL-6 rs1800795 and MMP3 rs679620) analyzed in combination, explained 16% to 40% of the variation of inflammatory responses in soccer athletes. The results suggest that the genotypic profile can be taken into account for a more individualized distribution of the training load, along with the elaboration of recovery strategies for high-level athletes between training sessions and games of high physical and physiological demand.
