Emergent Dirac fermion states underlie many intriguing properties of graphene,and the search for them constitutes one strong motivation to explore two-dimensional(2D)allotropes of other ***,the ultrathin layers of black phosphorous,has been a subject of intense investigations recently,and it was found that other group-Va elements could also form 2D layers with similar puckered lattice ***,by a close examination of their electronic band structure evolution,we discover two types of Dirac fermion states emerging in the low-energy *** pair of(type-I)Dirac points is sitting on high-symmetry lines,while two pairs of(type-II)Dirac points are located at generic k-points,with different anisotropic dispersions determined by the reduced symmetries at their *** fully-unpinned(type-II)2D Dirac points are discovered for the first *** the absence of spin-orbit coupling(SOC),we find that each Dirac node is protected by the sublattice symmetry from gap opening,which is in turn ensured by any one of three point group *** SOC generally gaps the Dirac nodes,and for the type-I case,this drives the system into a quantum spin Hall insulator *** suggest possible ways to realise the unpinned Dirac points in strained phosphorene.

Hepatitis A virus(HAV)is one of the most common infectious etiologies of acute hepatitis *** virus is known to be transmitted fecal-orally,resulting in symptoms ranging from asymptomatic infection to fulminant *** can also be transmitted through oral-anal *** from regions of low endemicity for HAV infection often remain susceptible in their ***,clustered HAV infections or outbreaks of acute hepatitis A among men who have sex with men and injecting drug users have been reported in countries of low endemicity for HAV *** duration of HAV viremia and stool shedding of HAV may be longer in human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-positive individuals compared to HIV-negative individuals with acute hepatitis *** guidelines recommend HAV vaccination for individuals with increased risks of exposure to HAV(such as from injecting drug use,oral-anal sex,travel to or residence in endemic areas,frequent clotting factor or blood transfusions)or with increased risks of fulminant disease(such as those with chronic hepatitis).The seroconversion rates following the recommended standard adult dosing schedule(2doses of HAVRIX 1440 U or VAQTA 50 U administered6-12 mo apart)are lower among HIV-positive individuals compared to HIV-negative *** the response rates may be augmented by adding a booster dose at week 4 sandwiched between the first dose and the 6-mo dose,the need of booster vaccination remain less clear among HIV-positive individuals who have lost anti-HAV antibodies.

Increased numbers of Foxp3-positive regulatory T cells in gastritis, peptic ulcer and gastric adenocarcinoma

AIM: To determine the number of regulatory T cells (Tregs) in gastric mucosa of patients with gastritis, peptic ulcers and gastric cancer. METHODS: This study was a retrospective analysis of gastric antrum biopsy specimens from healthy controls (n = 22) and patients with gastritis (n = 30), peptic ulcer (n = 83), or gastric cancer (n = 32). Expression of CD4, CD25 and Foxp3 was determined by immunohistochemistry in three consecutive sections per ***: Compared with healthy controls, there was an increased number of CD25+ and Foxp3+ cells in patients with gastritis (P = 0.004 and P = 0.008), peptic ulcer (P < 0.001 and P < 0.001), and gastric cancer (P < 0.001 and P < 0.001). The ratio of CD25+/CD4+ or Foxp3+/CD4+ cells was also significantly higher in all disease groups (P < 0.001, respectively). The number of CD4+, CD25+, and Foxp3+ cells, and the ratio of CD25+/CD4+ and Foxp3+/CD4+ cells, were associated with the histological grade of the specimens, including acute inflammation, chronic inflammation, lymphoid follicle number, and Helicobacter pylori infection. The number of CD4+, CD25+ and Foxp3+ cells, and the ratio of CD25+/CD4+ and Foxp3+/CD4+ cells, were negatively associated with intestinal metaplasia among gastritis (P < 0.001, P < 0.001, P < 0.001, P = 0.002 and P = 0.002) and peptic ulcer groups (P = 0.013, P = 0.004, P < 0.001, P = 0.040 and P = 0.003).

Objective： To study whether the ethanol extract of Phellinus merrillii（EPM） has chemopreventive potential against liver carcinogenesis. Methods： Thirty male Spraque-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control group, EPM control group, hepatocarcinoma control group, low-dose EPM group and high-dose EPM group, 6 in each group. Using the Solt and Farber protocol in a rat model of hepatocarcinogenesis, the chemopreventive effect of EPM on diethylnitrosamine（DEN）-initiated, 2-acetylaminofluorene（2-AAF） and partial hepatectomy（PH）-promoted liver carcinogenesis in rats was evaluated. Basic pathophysiological and histological examinations, together with the serum levels of glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase（s GOT）, glutamic pyruvic transaminase（s GPT） and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase（γ-GT） were measured. Results： Treatment of EPM at the concentration of 2 g/kg body weight in the diet for 8 weeks clearly prevented the development of carcinogenesis and reduced the levels of s GOT, s GPT, and serum γ-GT of rats as compared with the hepatocarcinoma control group（P〈0.05 or P〈0.01）. These phenotypes were accompanied by a significant increase in natural killer cell activity. Conclusion： EPM showed a strong liver preventive effect against DEN＋2-AAF＋PH-induced hepatocarcinogenesis in a rat model.

AIM:Helicobacter pyloricauses chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer,gastric cancer and MALT-lymphoma. Different genotypes of Helicobacter pylori are confirmed from diverse geographic areas. Its association with bleeding peptic ulcer remains *** aim of this study was to investigate the Helicobacter pylori vacA alleles, cagA and iceA in patients with bleeding peptic ***:We enrolled patients with bleeding, nonbleeding peptic ulcers and chronic gastritis. Biopsy specimens were obtained from the antrum of the stomach for rapid urease test, bacterial culture and PCR assay. DNA extraction and polymerase chain reaction were used to detect the presence or absence of cagA and to assess the polymorphism of vacA and ***: A total of 168 patients (60.4%) (25 patients with chronic gastritis, 26 patients with bleeding gastric ulcer,51 patients with non-bleeding gastric ulcer, 26 patients with bleeding duodenal ulcer, and 40 patients with non-bleeding duodenal ulcer) were found to have positive PCR results between January 2001 and December 2002. Concerning genotypes, we found cagA (139/278, 50%), vacA s1a(127/278, 45.7%), and iceA1 (125/278, 45%) predominated in all studied patients. In patients with bleeding peptic ulcers,vacA s1a and m1T were fewer than those in patients with non-bleeding peptic ulcers (37/106 vs 69/135, P=0.017, and 4/106 vs 21/135, P=0.002).CONCLUSION:In patients with peptic ulcers, Hpylori vacA s1a and m1T prevent bleeding complication.

AIM: Helicobacter pylori( H pylori) has been linked to chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, gastric cancer and *** link of genotypes of Hpylorito gastric cancer remains controversial. The aim of this study was to investigate the Hpylori vacA alleles, cagA and iceA in patients with gastric cancer in ***: Patients with gastric cancer, peptic ulcer and chronic gastritis were enrolled in this study. We obtained biopsy specimens from the stomach at least 2 cm away from the tumor margin in patients with gastric cancer, and from the antrum of stomach in patients with peptic ulcer or chronic gastritis. DNA extraction and polymerase chain reaction were used to detect the presence or absence of cagA and to assess the polymorphism of vacA and ***: A total of 168 patients (gastric ulcer: 77, duodenal ulcer: 66, and chronic gastritis: 25) were found to have positive PCR results of the biopsy specimens from patients with peptic ulcer and chronic gastritis. We found positive cagA (139/168, 83%), m2 (84/168, 50%) and iceA1 (125/168,74%) strains in the majority of patients. In patients with gastric cancer, the vacA sla and slc subtypes were less commonly found than those in non-cancer patients (35/66 vs 127/168, P= 0.0001 for sla and 13/66 vs93/168, P<0.0001 for slc). In the middle region, the mlT strain in patients with gastric cancer was more than that of non-cancer patients(23/66 vs 33/168, P = 0.02).CONCLUSION: In Taiwan, H pylori with positive vacA sla,cagA and iceA1 strains are found in the majority of patients with gastric cancer or non-cancer patients. In patients with gastric cancer, the vacA s1a and slc subtypes are less and m1T is more than in patients with peptic ulcer and chronic gastritis.
