Preliminary study on treatment of waste organic matter from livestock by bacteria-mineral technology

The present study dealt with relationships between the degradation and humification process that the organic matter underwent during bacteria-mineral technology. An inverse correlation was found between the protein, lipid, and some of the humification indices considered, suggesting that the humification theory is actually humic substances produced from simple-structured natural organic substrates. Weight-average molecular weight （Mw）, number-average molecular weight （Mn）, and the ratio Mw/Mn of dissolved organic matters at different stages of the process were measured by gel permeation chromatography. The results showed that Mn and Mw increased with reaction time from 352 to 17,191, and from 78,707 to 104,564, respectively. The ratio of Mn/Mw decreased from 223.3 to 6.1. This reflected the growth of the polymerization degree of dissolvable organic matters in the process; furthermore, it indicated the formation of complex molecules （humic substances） from more simple molecules. Bacteria-mineral water （BMW）（the effluent of the process） treatments can exert hormone-like activity for enhanced seed germination of wheat and rice and greatly improved chlorophyll synthesis in wheat and rice leaves, Major polyamines （plant regulators） putrescine, spermidine, and spermine, were found in BMW by a high performance liquid chromatography （HPLC） method, which may explain the hormone-like activity of BMW.

Current methods for the analysis of channeling-path phenomena in reservoirs cannot account for the influence of time and space on the actual seepage *** the present study,this problem is addressed considering actual production data and dynamic characteristic parameters quantitatively determined in the near wellbore area by fitting the water-cut curve of the *** from the dynamic relationship between injection and production data,the average permeability is determined and used to obtain a real-time quantitative characterization of the seepage behavior of the channeling-path in the far wellbore *** the considered case study(Jidong oilfield),it is found that the seepage capacity of the channeling-path in the far wellbore area is far less(10 times smaller)than that of the channeling-path in the near wellbore *** present study and the proposed model(combining near wellbore area and far wellbore area real-time data)have been implemented to support the definition of relevant adjustment measures to ultimately improve oil recovery.

Global warming and its climatic and environmental effects have mainly been investigated in terms of the absolute warming *** attention has been paid to the contribution of absolute warming rate to variability on various time scales of surface air temperature(SAT),which may be a more direct index for measuring the ecoclimatic effect of warming *** present study analyzed the role of secular warming trend in the variations of global land SAT for 1901–*** than one-third of annual SAT variations were contributed by the warming trend over large parts of the globe *** ratios were up to two-thirds over eastern South America,parts of South Africa and the regions around the southwestern Mediterranean and Sunda islands where the absolute warming rate was moderate but the endemic species were undergoing exceptional loss of *** ratios also exhibited smallest seasonal difference over these ***,the ratio of the warming trend to the SAT variations may be a better measure compared to the absolute warming rate for the local *** should also pay more attention to the regions with high ratio,not only the regions with the high absolute warming rate.

Commercialization of acetylene hydrochlorination using AuCl3 catalysts has been impeded by its poor stability. We have been studying that nitrogen-modified Au/NAC catalyst delivered a stable performance which can improve acetylene hydrochlorination activity and has resistance to catalytic deactivation. here we show that nitrogen and sulfur co-doped activated carbon supported AuCl3 catalyst worked as efficient catalysts for the hydrochlorination of acetylene to vinyl chloride. Au/NSAC catalyst demonstrated high activity comparative to Au/AC catalyst. Furthermore, it also delivered stable performance within the selectivity of acetylene, reaching more than 99.5%, and there was only a 3.3% C2H2 conversion loss after running for 12 h under the reaction conditions of a temperature of 180 C and a C2H2 hourly space velocity of 1480 h 1. The presence of the sulfur atoms may serve to immobilize/ anchor the Au and also help prevent reduction and sintering of the Au and hence improve the catalytic activity and stability. The excellent catalytic performance of the Au/NSAC catalyst demonstrated its potential as an alternative to mercury chloride catalysts for acetylene hydrochlorination.

One kind of side chain liquid crystal epoxy(S-LCE) based on biphenyl mesomorphic unit is synthesized from 2,2-bis(hydroxymethyl)propionic acid,4-phenyl phenol,and *** the intrinsic thermal conductive liquid crystal epoxy film(LCEF) simultaneously combining with intrinsic self-healing performance is then prepared via thiol-epoxide nucleophilic ring-opening reaction and coating method.1 H NMR and FTIR show that S-LCE and LCEF have been successfully prepared.S-LCE presents nematic liquid crystal from room temperature to 160℃.LCEF maintains nematic liquid crystal performance and shows highly intrinsic thermal conductivity & excellent self-healing *** conductivity coefficient(λ)values in vertical direction(λ⊥)and parallel direction(λ‖)of LCEF are 0.33 and 1.25 W/mK,re spectively,much higher than that of general bisphenol A epoxy resin(E-51,λ⊥ of 0.19 W/mK and λ‖ of0.65 W/mK).Tensile strength of LCEF is 10.6 MPa,which can maintain at 90.6 % and 61.3 % after one and four cycles of self-healing behavior,*** addition,LCEF presents a wide service temperature range(-9.8-251℃) and good thermal stability(THRI of 148.5℃).Simultaneously,LCEF has good transparency,flexibility,and tailorability,expected to be utilized in the fields of flexible electronic devices and intelligent structures.

AIM: To investigate whether malignant esophageal stromal tumors contain PAS-positive patterned matrix-associated vascular channels, which are lined by tumor cells, but not vascular endothelial cells. That is vasculogenic mimicry (VM) independent of tumor angiogenesis. METHODS: Thirty-six tissue samples of malignant esophageal stromal tumors were analyzed. Tissue sections were stained for Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), CD31 and periodic acid Schiff (PAS). The level of VEGF, the microvascular density (MVD) and the vasculogenic mimicry density (VMD) were determined. RESULTS: PAS-positive patterned matrix-associated vascular channels were detected in 33.3% (12/36) of tumor samples. Within these patterned channels, red blood cells were found. The level of VEGF and the MVD in tumors containing patterned channels were significantly higher than those in tumors not containing patterned channels (P he same time, the malignant degree of tumors was higher, the proportions of tumors containing patterned channels were not only more, but also in the each kind of tumors containing patterned channels. CONCLUSION: In malignant esophageal stromal tumors, a VM mechanism causes some tumor cells to deform themselves and secrete extracellular matrix; thus, PAS-positive patterned matrix-associated vascular channels appear and supplying blood to the tumors to sustain their growth and metastasis.

Discrete numerical modeling of granular materials considering crushability

The aim of this study is to numerically investigate the influence of particle breakage on the mechanical behavior of granular materials using a discrete element method(DEM). To enable particle crushing, non-crushable elementary particles are boned together to represents the granular aggregates which can be crushed when the external force exceeds its strength. The flaw of the aggregate was also modeled by randomly distributed void. Single particle crushing tests were carried out to determine the distribution of particle strength. The results of single particle crushing tests illustrate that the simulated single particle fracture strength and pattern agree well with the Weibull's distribution *** oedometer tests, drained monotonic and cyclic triaxial tests were also carried out to investigate the crushing of the aggregates and the associated mechanical behaviors. The effect of confining pressure on the crushing of aggregates and the mechanical behavior was also analyzed. It was found that the peak stress and dilation decrease significantly when particle crushing was *** deformation behavior of the specimen is essentially controlled by two factors: particle rearrangement-induced dilation and particle crushing-induced contraction. The increase of permanent strain and the reduction of dilation were observed during cyclic loading and they tend to reach a stable state after a certain number of cycles. The crushing of aggregate is most significant in the first two cycles. The results also indicated that for the same axial strain the volumetric strain and the bound breakage in the cyclic loading tests are significantly larger than that in the monotonic loading tests,especially at high cyclic stress ratio.
