The Ediacaran to early Cambrian Blovice accretionary complex,Bohemian Massif,hosts abundant chert bodies that formed on an oceanic plate and were involved in subduction beneath the northern margin of *** relationships of cherts to their host,their microstructure and elemental as well as isotopic compositions revealed diverse processes of chert petrogenesis reflecting depositional environment and position on the oceanic *** deep-water cherts formed through a hydrothermal precipitation of silica-rich gels on outer trench swell of the subducted slab with none or only minor addition of terrigenous *** the contrary,the shallow-water cherts formed in lagoons on seamount slopes,and at least some of them represent a product of hydrothermal replacement of former carbonate and/or evaporite *** both chert types,the hydrothermal fluids were of low temperature and continuous pervasive hydrothermal alteration of oceanic crust,together with an elevated Si content in Neoproterozoic seawater,served as the major source of *** the other hand,minor carbon enrichment in chert is mostly linked to variable incorporation of organic matter that was deposited on the *** earth element(REE)systematics of the cherts indicate predominantly oxygenated environment for the shallow-water cherts whereas the deep-water cherts were deposited in diverse redox conditions,depending on their distance from hydrothermal *** these data,we demonstrate that the cherts once formed a part of Ocean Plate Stratigraphy(OPS)now dismembered and mixed with terrigenous siliciclastic material to form OPS mé*** our data with those from the existing literature,we show that cherts can serve as significant markers of OPS since the Archean,recording a complex interplay between seafloor-related volcanic(production of MORB-and OIB-like magmas)and sedimentary processes,hydrothermal activity at mid-ocean ridges and seamount chains as well as at outer slopes o

Antibody-Like Phosphorylation Sites in Focus of Statistically Based Bilingual Approach

In accordance with previous reports, the sequences related to phosporylated protein segments occur in conserved variable domains of immunoglobulins including first of all certain N-terminally located segments. Consequently, we look here for the sequences 1) composing human and mouse proteins different from antigen receptors, 2) identical with or highly similar to nucleotide sequence representatives of conserved variable immunoglobulin segments and 3) identical with or closely related to phosphorylation sites. More precisely, we searched for the corresponding actual pairs of DNA and protein sequence segments using five-step bilingual approach employing among others a) different types of BLAST searches, b) two in-principle-different machine-learning methods predicting phosphorylated sites and c) two large databases recording existing phosphorylation sites. The approach identified seven existing phosphorylation sites and thirty-seven related human and mouse segments achieving limits for several predictions or phylogenic parameters. Mostly serines phosporylated with ataxia-telangiectasia-related kinase (involved in regulation of DNA-double-strand-break repair) were indicated or predicted in this study. Hypermutation motifs, located in effective positions of the selected sequence segments, occurred significantly less frequently in transcribed than non-transcribed DNA strands suggesting thus the incidence of mutation events. In addition, marked differences between the numbers and proportions of human and mouse cancer-related sequence items were found in different steps of selection process. The possible role of hypermutation changes within the selected segments and the observed structural relationships are discussed here with respect to DNA damage, carcinogenesis, cancer vaccination, ageing and evolution. Peat remains the primary constituent of horticultural growing media in professional ***,use of peat in horticultural growing media results in greenhouse gas emissions and biodiversity loss due to excavation of natural *** is gaining attention as a sustainable alternative to peat use in *** study examined the potential of biochar produced from a particular type of sawmill residue,as a partial replacement for peat in horticultural growing *** treatments including peat only,biochar only,biochar and peat in 1:1,1:3,and 3:1(V/V)ratios were *** addition of biochar into growing media increased the pH and EC of the ***,physical properties(air-filled porosity and water holding capacity)were negatively affected with the increase in biochar content in the *** to the germination test results,biochar significantly improved germination and the shoot and root length of germinated seeds of cress,lettuce and tomato when compared to peat-only and biochar-only *** inclusion of biochar in 25-50%volume ratio improved plant growth parameters compared to peat-only and biochar-only *** obtained from this study suggest that sawmill residue offers great potential as a feedstock for biochar production and inclusion of biochar has positive effects on seed germination and plant growth that might compete with modified peat.

世界卫生组织的《国际功能、残疾与健康分类》(ICF)为我们理解健康、功能和残疾提供了一个新的基础。然而在其应用过程中可能会遇到不同的挑战。本文旨在解决其中的两个挑战:ICF内容效度以及ICF与其他健康相关概念如全健康、生活质量(QoL)和健康相关生活质量(HRQoL)的关系。正在进行的一系列效度研究证实,ICF是一个完备的分类:它既涵盖构成人类功能和残疾体验的健康及其相关领域,又涵盖大多数影响功能和残疾体验的环境因素。而且ICF也有助于人们把健康理解为一个序列:以身体为中心的观念(身体的健康体验)、综合的观念("全健康体验"),并最终发展成为整体观念("人类体验"),最后这种整体观念把健康看作人类体验的一部分。ICF将健康从一个狭隘的观点转变为广义的功能观点,使得健康作为人类体验的一部分可操作化。ICF及其类目也可以作为客观评价全健康的起点:HRQoL既然被定义为个体对健康和全健康的健康相关领域的一种知觉,基于ICF功能概念的类目也就可作为HRQoL评定的基础。

Pilot Study of Problem gambling in Specialized Substance Use Disorder Treatment—High Lifetime Prevalence of Problem gambling in Opioid Maintenance Treatment Patients

Problem gambling is over-represented in patients treated for substance use disorders, but substance-specific prevalence of problem gambling is rarely reported. In specialized addiction treatment facilities for opioid maintenance treatment and for alcohol and prescription drug dependence, respectively, 129 patients were screened for problem gambling using the NODS-CLiP. The lifetime prevalence of problem gambling was markedly higher in opioid maintenance treatment (61 percent) than in alcohol and prescription drug dependence treatment (11 percent, p g for gender and age, problem gambling remained significantly associated with opioid maintenance treatment. The present study demonstrated a very high prevalence of lifetime problem gambling in opioid maintenance treatment patients. This calls for active screening for problem gambling in substance use disorder patients, and mainly in treatment for opioid dependence.

Regulation of Myelination in the Central Nervous System by Nuclear Lamin B1 and Non-coding RNAs

Adult-onset autosomal dominant leukodystrophy(ADLD)is a progressive and fatal hereditary demyelination disorder characterized initially by autonomic dysfunction and loss of myelin in the central nervous system(CNS).Majority of ADLD is caused by a genomic duplication of the nuclear lamin B1 gene(LMNB1)encoding lamin B1 protein,resulting in increased gene dosage in brain *** vitro,excessive lamin B1 at the cellular level reduces transcription of myelin genes,leading to premature arrest of oligodendrocyte *** models of ADLD overexpressing LMNB1 exhibited age-dependent motor deficits and myelin defects,which are associated with reduced occupancy of the Yin Yang 1 transcription factor at the promoter region of the proteolipid protein *** B1 overexpression mediates oligodendrocyte cell-autonomous neuropathology in ADLD and suggests lamin B1 as an important regulator of myelin formation and maintenance during *** of microRNA-23(miR-23)as a negative regulator of lamin B1 can ameliorate the consequences of excessive lamin B1 at the cellular ***-23a-overexpressing mice display enhanced oligodendrocyte differentiation and myelin ***-23a targets include a protein coding transcript PTEN(phosphatase and tensin homolog on chromosome 10),and a long noncoding RNA(2700046g09Rik),indicating a unique role for miR-23a in the coordination of proteins and noncoding RNAs in generating and maintaining healthy ***,we provide a concise review of the current literature on clinical presentations of ADLD and how lamin B1 affects myelination and other developmental ***,we address the emerging role of non-coding RNAs(ncRNAs)in modulating gene networks,specifically investigating miR-23 as a potential target for the treatment of ADLD and other demyelinating disorders.
