The new hig.-density cropping.systems (>1200 trees ha-1) represent a very interesting.proposal for olive orchard profitability. It is crucial to know the morpholog. and the dynamics of sprout elong.tion of a cultivar in order to fully assess its suitability for a hig.-density olive orchard. For this reason we planned a research on two cultivars, Coratina and Arbequina, in a hig.-density orchard. The apical sprouts elong.tion of Arbequina early stopped at fruit set without a further step, while Coratina showed a little g.owth flux after pit hardening. Similar trends showed the lateral proleptic sprouts. Only the sylleptic sprouts of both cultivars had a second period of activity. In all cases, the sprouts elong.tion finished at the end of summer, when oil accumulation started. Coratina showed hig.er apical shoot g.owth and internodes mean leng.h than Arbequina. On the contrary, Coratina showed lower lateral proleptic shoot g.owth and nodes number than Arbequina, but the same internodes mean leng.h. No sig.ificant differences were observed between cultivars for g.owth, nodes number and internodes mean leng.h of sylleptic shoots. The differences observed between the two cultivars could be explained considering.their different vig.ur. The introduction of this innovative cropping.system is allowed to reg.ster a considerable reduction of production costs. The result is a considerable increase in the economic performance of the olive g.ove and a consequent reduction in the unit cost for kg.of oil. These data are very useful for varietal choice and field manag.ment in hig.-density orchards and then for new olive breeding.prog.ams.

AIM To assess the diag.ostic accuracy of a new fecal test for detecting.Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori), using.^(13)Curea breath test as the reference standard, and explore bacterial antibiotic resistance. METHODS We conducted a prospective two-center diag.ostic test accuracy study. We enrolled consecutive people≥ 18 years without previous diag.osis of H. pylori infection, referred for dyspepsia between February and October 2017. At enrollment, all participants underwent 13 C-urea breath test. Participants ag.d over 50 years were scheduled to underg. upper endoscopy with histolog.. Participants collected stool samples 1-3 d after enrollment for a new fecal investig.tion(THD fecal test). The detection of bacterial 23 S rRNA subunit g.ne indicated H. pylori infection. We also used the index diag.ostic test to examine mutations conferring.resistance to clarithromycin and levofloxacin. Independent investig.tors analyzed index test and reference test standard results blinded to the other test finding.. We estimated sensitivity, specificity, positive(PPV) and neg.tive(NPV) predictive value, diag.ostic accuracy, positive and neg.tive likelihood ratio(LR), tog.ther with 95% confidence intervals(CI).RESULTS We enrolled 294 consecutive participants(ag.: Median 37.0 years, IQR: 29.0-46.0 years; men: 39.8%). Ninetyfive(32.3%) participants had a positive ^(13)C-urea breath test. Twenty-three(7.8%) participants underwent upper endoscopy with histolog., with a full concordance between ^(13)C-urea breath test and histolog. in detecting.H. pylori infection. Four(1.4%) out of the 294 participants withdrew from the study after the enrollment visit and did not underg. THD fecal testing. In the 290 participants who completed the study, the THD fecal test sensitivity was 90.2%(CI: 84.2%-96.3%), specificity 98.5%(CI:96.8%-100%), PPV 96.5%(CI: 92.6%-100%), NPV 95.6%(CI: 92.8%-98.4%), accuracy 95.9%(CI: 93.6%-98.2%), positive LR 59.5(CI: 19.3-183.4), neg.tive LR 0.10(CI: 0.05-0.18). Purpose: To explore the relationship between creatinine clearance, an estimate of g.omerular filtration rate, and5- year incidence of cataract and cataract surg.ry. Desig.: Population- based cohort study. Participants: Of the 3654 participants (ag.d 49 years or older) of the Blue Mountains Eye Study (BMES I) baseline examination (during.1992 to 1994), 2334 (75% )were reexamined after5 years from 1997 to 1999 (BMES II). Method: Risk factor data were collected for all participants at baseline (BMES I). Assessment of renal function was based on estimated creatinine clearance (CCr) calculated with the Cockcroft- g.ult formula, adjusted for body surface area, and expressed in ml/minute/1.73 m2. Cataract incidence was determined from g.aded photog.aphs. The association between renal function and incidence of cataract and cataract surg.ry was analyzed by log.stic reg.ession. Main OutcomeMeasures: Incidence of nuclear, cortical, and posterior subcapsular cataract, and cataract surg.ry. Results: Mean CCr± standard deviation was 60± 13 ml/minute/1.73 m2. The overall5- year incidence of nuclear, cortical, and posterior subcapsular cataract was 35.7% (417 of 1167 participants at risk), 16.7% (274 of 1641), and4.3% (77 of 1790), respectively. Cataract surg.ry was performed in 6.8% (144 of 2123) of participants. There were no sig.ificant associations of renal function with incident nuclear (odds ratio [OR], 1.0; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.99- 1.02), cortical (OR, 1.0; CI, 0.98- 1.01), and posterior subcapsular cataract (OR, 1.0; CI, 0.99- 1.04) after adjusting.for multiple risk factors. AIM To examine the associations between mental disorders and infectious, atopic, inflammatory diseases while adjusting.for other risk *** We used data from PsyC oL aus, a larg. Swiss Population Cohort Study(n = 3720; ag. rang. 35-66). Lifetime diag.oses of mental disorders were g.ouped into the following.categ.ries: Neurodevelopmental, anxiety(early and late onset), mood and substance disorders. They were reg.essed on infectious, atopic and other inflammatory diseases adjusting.for sex, educational level, familial ag.reg.tion, childhood adversities and traumatic experiences in childhood. A multivariate log.stic reg.ession was applied to each g.oup of disorders. In a complementary analysis interactions with sex were introduced via nested effects. RESULTS Associations with infectious, atopic and other chronic inflammatory diseases were observable tog.ther with consistent effects of childhood adversities and familial ag.reg.tion, and less consistent effects of trauma in each g.oup of mental disorders. Streptococcal infections were associated with neurodevelopmental disorders(men), and measles/mumps/rubella-infections with early and late anxiety disorders(women). g.stric inflammatory diseases took effect in mood disorders(both sexes) and in early disorders(men). Similarly, irritable bowel syndrome was prominent in a sex-specific way in mood disorders in women, and, moreover, was associated with early and late anxiety disorders. Atopic diseases were associated with late anxiety disorders. Acne(associations with mood disorders in men) and psoriasis(associations with early anxiety disorders in men and mood disorders in women) contributed sex-specific results. Urinary tract infections were associated with mood disorders and, in addition, in a sex-specific way with late anxiety disorders(men), and neurodevelopmental and early anxiety disorders(women).CONCLUSION Infectious, atopic and inflammatory diseases areimportant risk factors for all g.oups of mental disorde
