The blood-brain barrier is the interface throug. which the brain interacts with the milieu and consists mainly of a sophisticated network of brain endothelial cells that forms blood vessels and selectively moves molecules inside and outside the brain throug. multiple mechanisms of *** brain endothelial cell function is crucial for brain homeostasis,their role in neurodeg.nerative diseases has historically not been considered with the same importance as other brain cells such as microg.ia,astrog.ia,neurons,or even molecules such as amyloid beta,Tau,or ***'s disease is the most common neurodeg.nerative disease,and brain endothelial cell dysfunction has been reported by several ***,its impairment has barely been considered as a potential therapeutic *** we review the most recent advances in the relationship between Alzheimer's disease and brain endothelial cells commitment and analyze the possible mechanisms throug. which their alterations contribute to this neurodeg.nerative disease,hig.lig.ting.their inflammatory phenotype and the possibility of an impaired secretory pattern of brain endothelial cells that could contribute to the prog.ession of this ***,we discuss why shall brain endothelial cells be appreciated as a therapeutic targ.t instead of solely an obstacle for delivering.treatments to the injured brain in Alzheimer's disease.

Tick-Borne Rickettsial Pathog.ns in Rodents from Mexico

Tick-Borne Rickettsial Diseases (TBRD) are emerg.ng.zoonotic diseases, and a problem of human health and veterinary medication. The distribution of these diseases is related to the distribution of vector. The presence of pathog.ns in the host is a risk indicator of population exposure to these areas. A total of 478 tissues samples from rodents, A. phag.cytophilum 18 (3.7%), E. canis 47 (9.8%), Rickettsia rickettsii 18 (3.7%) and E. chaffeensis 19 (3.9%) were detected using.species-specific PCR assay. It is the first report in Mexico the presence of rodents infected with A. phag.cytophilum and E. chaffeensis. The rodent Peromyscus spp. were the most commonly prevalent host of infection for all the bacteria’s. We have to consider as host of TBRD transmitter and provide a useful contribution to understanding.their epidemiolog.. The health sector should be considered all the fevers of unknown causes in humans and animals in Mexico as infections by these vector-borne rickettsial pathog.ns.

Ag.ve americana *** were exposed to different concentrations of ethyl methanesulphonate(EMS)0,15,30,45 and 60 mM and to different times of exposure(2 and 4 h).The viability and capacity of shoot formation were shown to be affected when the callus were exposed to hig. concentrations(30–60 mM).Only the callus exposed to 15 mM EMS presented shoot formation;the exposure time of two hours produced the larg.st quantity of shoots reg.nerated per callus(21 shoots/callus).In order to g.nerate somaclonal variants resistant to Fusarium oxysporum,a selection pressure was applied throug. of a culture filtrate(CF)of 100 ppm of the *** was made in callus obtained in the treatment with 15 mM EMS during.2 h of *** CF caused oxidation and necrosis in 71.25%of the callus;however,they were capable of g.nerating.shoots(3.5 shoots/callus).Molecular markers type RAPD,ISSR and DAMD were used to evaluate the g.netic variation arising.from the mutations caused by EMS on control plants and 16-month-old somaclonal *** polymorphic information content(PIC)for each one of the initiating.g.oups was:0.28(DAMD),0.09(ISSR)and 0.14(RAPD).DAMD revealed a g.eater percentag. of polymorphism than RAPD and *** bands were detected in the somaclonal *** indicated that the EMS caused g.netic variation in the reg.nerated plants conferring.resistance to them ag.inst Fusarium oxysporum.

Ticks are reg.rded as the most relevant vectors of disease-causing.pathog.ns in domestic and wild animals. The diversity of Ixodidae is known for a very small number of ***?are represented by 26 species, and?in?2007 the first reported ticks vectors in Mexico for the causal ag.nt of Lyme disease. Recent rise in tick-borne disease in many parts of the world is a phenomenon in need of an explanation. The main objective of the present work was to map at a reg.onal scale (1:2,000,000)?of?the distribution of ticks of the family Ixodidae that are potentially present on the wild fauna of state of Michoacan, Mexico. We compiled all available literature on ticks at a national level tog.ther with complete cartog.aphic and bibliog.aphic g.oreferenced information of the distribution of hosts in order to build a spatial database in ArcView 3.3. The results indicated that the wild fauna in the state’s territory could potentially include 31 species of ticks of Ixodidae. The map of potential species richness of ixodid ticks on the wild fauna of the state can be categ.rized into five classes of species richness. The hig.est potential concentration of ixodid species on wild fauna occurs in the volcanic area of Pico de Tancítaro.

Cost-Effectiveness Analysis of Renalof® versus Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) for the Treatment of Kidney Stones ≤ 1 cm in Nicarag.a

Objectives: To assess the efficiency in terms of cost-effectiveness (CE) of oral Renalof® treatment versus extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) in the treatment of kidney stones ≤ 1 cm in Nicarag.a. Methods: A cost-effectiveness economic evaluation was carried out based on the results obtained in the randomised, prospective, observational, sing.e-blind, prospective, phase 2 clinical trial. Cost-effectiveness and the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) were calculated. Economic data were obtained from the Economics Department of Clínica Senior in Manag.a, Nicarag.a. The monetary cost was expressed in US dollars (USD). Results: Treatment with Renalof® yielded a CE of $1,323.08/% remission, while ESWL was $9,498.54/% remission. The ICER shows that, in order to achieve a hig. percentag. of kidney stone remission with ESWL, an extra $4,734.70 per patient must be invested. Conclusions: The use of Renalof® is shown to be a more cost-effective option than ESWL. It is recommended for the treatment of kidney stones ≤ 1 cm in size.

Callus cultures of Annona muricata and Annona purpurea were induced in Murashig. and Skoog.MS)medium supplemented with different concentrations of 1-naphthylacetic acid(NAA),6-benzyladenine(BA)and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D)utilized hypocotyls with *** hig.est percentag. of callus formation was the treatment supplemented with 3 mg.L-1 NAA for ***(100%)while for *** in lower percentag.(75%).BA stimulated the formation of shoots in all the evaluated concentrations,being.the concentration of 2 mg.L-1 the one that induced the g.eater formation of shoots for ***(23 shoots/explant)and ***(28 shoots/explant).The content of total phenols,flavonoids and antioxidant activity was measured in the callus obtained from both *** results showed that a hig.er content of total phenols was quantified in callus of ***(27.8 mg.g.1 dw)compared to ***(23.2 mg.g.1 dw).The hig.est content of total flavonoids was observed in the callus of ***(8.0μg.g.1 dw).Antioxidant activity was determined by the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydracil radical *** concentration required for 50%inhibition(IC50)of the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydracil radicals were 4.22μg.mL-1 in methanolic extracts of callus of ***,while in extracts of callus of *** was 2.86μg.mL-1,in both cases was g.eater than that found for *** culture of the species studied in this work represents an alternative for the production of natural antioxidants.

New Rotative Radiofrequency Technolog.: A Multicenter Retrospective Study on Efficacy and Safety

Backg.ound: Non-ablative radiofrequency (RF) technolog. is widely used for the treatment of sig.s of ag.ng. skin laxity, localized fat and cellulite. However, many RF devices suffer from technical limitations that make the results hig.ly dependent on the user’s experience or clinical limitations that compromise safety, efficacy and comfort. Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a novel semi-automatic non-ablative RF device for skin tig.tening. body shaping.and cellulite reduction. Materials and methods: A retrospective multicenter study was performed using.a novel rotative RF device with temperature and impedance control (Sculpt&Shape®, Sinclair, Spain). 58 subjects underwent a minimum of 4 treatments every 1-2 weeks. A total of 120 treatments (56.7% body and 43.3% facial) and 1034 sessions were performed. Efficacy was evaluated by 3 researchers using.the g.obal Aesthetic Improvement Scale (g.IS) and anthropometric measurements were collected. Subject and practitioner satisfaction were recorded. Safety was evaluated by analyzing.the perception of pain during.the treatment and the side and adverse effects immediately after treatment and over the next 48 hours. Results: Between 25% and 50% improvement was achieved according.to the g.IS. Statistically sig.ificant (p g. and arms, respectively. 77.5% of subjects and 94.9% of practitioners were either satisfied or very satisfied. Minor adverse effects were found in 0.97% of the sessions. Conclusion: This novel semi-automatic rotative RF device has been found to provide treatments that are effective, safe and comfortable for both practitioners and subjects. .

A silver removal process was carried out on a Pb-Ag.alloy throug. zinc powder injection of three different sizes （3.55, 44.4 and 734.8μm） with a top submerg.d lance using.nitrog.n as carrying.g.s. The hig.er silver removal was obtained for the zinc powder size of 44.4μm, while the lowest silver removal efficiency was attained for the smaller particle size. The Ag.n phase was detected in the slag.for the 44.4 and 734.8μm particle sizes by XRD, which was in ag.eement with SEM-EDS analysis. Experimental behavior was explained according.to the melting.and residence time of the injected particles.
