Most demog.aphic studies focus on numerical chang.s that occur within populations across ***,typically studies at an interannual scale do not provide information on the particular times of the year(particular months or seasons)when rates of survival,recruitment,or mig.ation increase or decrease due to physiolog.ical,behavioral or ecolog.cal *** monthly or seasonal chang.s in demog.aphic parameters may lead to substantial variations in population *** this study,we collected capture-mark-recapture data on 3 species of lizards of the g.nus Sceloporus(Sceloporus torquatus,Sceloporus g.ammicus and Sceloporus meg.lepidurus)found in ecolog.cally similar habitats to examine potential chang.s in demog.aphic rates among.3 different climatic seasons:rainy,cold-dry and warm-dry *** tested different hypotheses about the effect of these seasons on survival,recruitment of new adults,and temporary *** found that during.the season with severe thermal constraints,the cold-dry season,survival of *** decreased *** also detected a considerable increase in the recruitment rate of *** during.the rainy season,when these lizards are establishing.territories and finding.*** contrast,we found no evidence of intra-annual chang.s in the rate of temporary *** addition,we calculated abundance and population g.owth rates for each species and for each *** study represents a sig.ificant contribution to the understanding.of intra-annual demog.aphic variation in lizards.

Enhancement and Optimization of ATO Nano-crystalline Films Properties by the Addition of Acetylacetone as Modifier in the Sol-g.l Process

Sb-doped Sn O2(ATO) thin films have been prepared using.the spin coating.method by selecting.the proper amount of acetylacetone as solution modifier. All ATO powders and films exhibited the cassiterite rutile-like structure in a crystal size below 10 nm under all the experimental conditions and a nonpreviously reported crystal structure was observed at hig. acetylacetone loads. The acetylacetone molar ratio influenced notably the optical and electrical properties of ATO films. When prepared at an acetylacetone molar ratio of 4, ATO films exhibited optical transparencies above 90% in the visible reg.on and above 40% in the UV reg.on for thicknesses of 100 and 300 nm. Films in a thickness of 100 nm and at an annealing.temperature of 650 ℃ accounted for a hig. transparency of 97% in the visible waveleng.h. Films prepared at an acetylacetone molar ratio of 4 exhibited an electric resistivity of 1.33×10-3 Ω·cm at an annealing.temperature of 650 ℃. The optimal Sb content for ATO films was found to be 8 at%. The relationships among.the properties of starting.solutions, the experimental parameters, and properties of ATO films are discussed.

Is mag.esium deficiency the major cause of needle chlorosis of Pinus taeda in Brazil?

Needle chlorosis(NC) in Pinus taeda L. systems in Brazil becomes more frequent after second and third harvest rotation cycles. In a study to identify factors contributing.to yellowing.needle chorosis(YNC), trees were g.own in soils orig.nating.from contrasting.parent materials, and soils and needles(whole, g.een and chlorotic portions) from 1-and 2-year-old branches and the first and second needle flush release at four sites with YNC on P. taeda were analyzed for various elements and properties. All soils had very low base levels(Ca2+, Mg.+and K+) and P, sug.esting.a possible lack of multiple elements. YNC symptoms started at needle tips, then extended toward the needle base with time. First flush needles had long.r portions with YNC than second flush needles did. Needles from the lower crown also had more symptoms along.their leng.h than those hig.er in the canopy. Symptoms were similar to those reported for Mg. In chlorotic portions, Mg.and Ca concentrations were well below critical values; in particular, Mg.levels were only one third of the critical value of 0.3 g.kg.1. Collectively, results sug.est that Mg.deficiency is the primary reason for NC of P. taeda in various parent soils in Brazil.

String.matching.alg.rithms are an important piece in the network intrusion detection systems. In these systems, the chain coincidence alg.rithms occupy more than half the CPU process time. The g.U technolog. has showed in the past years to have a superior performance on these types of applications than the CPU. In this article we perform a review of the state of the art of the different string.matching.alg.rithms used in network intrusion detection systems;and also some research done about CPU and g.U on this area.

Establishing.g.othermometric constraints on the local g.othermal g.adients:Case study of the Eastern Cordillera Basin,Colombia

g.ochemical analyses were performed on 170 coal bed-trapped g.oundwater samples from 97 underg.ound mines located in the Eastern Cordillera Basin, Colombia. The waters analyzed in this paper are from exploited coal beds, located up to 0.73 km deep, which emerg. along.with the local fault *** hydrochemical facies were classified based on the concentration of major ions by inferring.the equilibrium state and rock water source. The main hydrochemical facies presented in the g.oundwater study are SO_4-Ca-Mg. HCO_3-Ca, HCO_3-Ca-Mg. and SO_4-HCO_3 mixed waters. We used g.othermometric equations to estimate the most probable temperature under in-situ conditions and the propag.tion of errors theory to test the results. The g.othermal g.adient in the study area is close to 30℃/km, which is consistent with measurements from oil wells within the study area. Principal Component Analysis was used to explain factors affecting.formation water composition and hydrog.ochemical evolution of aquifers.

Lodg.ng.occurs when the crop canopy is too heavy for the streng.h of the stem and it fallsover onto the g.ound. This decreases crop yield and quality, and it makes harvest difficult.A research experiment was set up in a spearmint field on a center pivot with mid elevationspray application (MESA) overhead sprinklers, where the water was applied from a “midelevation” of 2 m above the g.ound level (Ag.), and low elevation precision application(LEPA) sprinklers, where the water was emitted directly onto the soil surface throug. drag.oses without wetting.the crop canopy. Every-other span of this full-size center pivot wasconfig.red with MESA and LEPA sprinklers alternatively. In 2018, imag.ry was collectedwith an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) from a cross section of this field. In 2019, a crosssection was ag.in collected, but in addition UAV imag.ry was collected from marked lodg.dand un-lodg.d areas of the field to validate the lodg.ng.detection method. These UAV-basedimag.ry data were captured with a g.ound sample distance (g.D) of 0.03 m. This researchintroduces using.the texture feature, which is based on imag. entropy, was used to evaluate the deg.ee of lodg.ng. The results from 2018 showed that the averag. entropy of theg.ayscale imag. from LEPA (5.5 (mean) ± 0.27 (standard deviation)) was sig.ificantly(P g.eater than the averag. entropy (5.0 ± 0.25) of MESA. Also, the entropy valueextracted from the imag.s in 2019 from the marked un-lodg.d locations were sig.ificantlyhig.er compared to that of the lodg.d areas. Overall, the LEPA irrig.tion treatment was sig.nificantly less lodg.d compared to MESA. Moreover, the entropy value, or texture feature, isa viable method for estimating.lodg.ng.using.low altitude Rg. imag.ry.

Adsorption of Toxic Metals and Control of Mosquitos-borne Disease by Lysinibacillus sphaericus:Dual Benefits for Health and Environment

Objective Assessment of the bacterium L. sphaericus as a dual-action candidate for biolog.cal control of mosquito-borne diseases and bioremediation of toxic metals. Methods Larvae of the mosquito, C quinquefasciatus, were first evaluated for metal tolerance and then exposed to 5 ppm cadmium, chromium, arsenic, and lead in assays tog.ther with seven strains of L. sphaericus. A probit reg.ession analysis was used to estimate the LCso of Cd, Cr, As, and Pb to C. quinquefosciatus. An analysis of covariance and multifactorial ANOVA examined the metal biosorption and larvicidal properties of the seven strains of L. sphaericus. Results We found that L. sphaericus adsorbed the toxic metal ions and was toxic ag.inst mosquito larvae. The L. sphoericus strain 111（3）7 resulted in a larvae mortality of over 80% for all the tested metals. This strain also exhibited the capacity to adsorb 76% of arsenic, 32% of lead, 25% of chromium, and 7% of cadmium. Conclusion This study found combined metal adsorption and larval toxicity associated with three strains of L. sphaericus [111（3）7, OT4b.31, and CBAM5]. This sug.ests that a combination of these strains shows strong.dual potential for biolog.cal control of mosquitos in heavy metal-contaminated areas and remediate the heavy metal contamination as well.

Fast mag.itude determination using.a sing.e seismolog.cal station record implementing.machine learning.techniques

In this work a Support Vector Machine Reg.ession（SVMR） alg.rithm is used to calculate local mag.itude（MI） using.only five seconds of sig.al after the P wave onset of one three component seismic station. This alg.rithm was trained with 863 records of historical earthquakes, where the input reg.ession parameters were an exponential function of the waveform envelope estimated by least squares and the maximum value of the observed waveform for each component in a sing.e station. Ten-fold cross validation was applied for a normalized polynomial kernel obtaining.the mean absolute error for different exponents and complexity parameters. The local mag.itude（MI） could be estimated with 0.19 units of mean absolute error. The proposed alg.rithm is easy to implement in hardware and may be used directly after the field seismolog.cal sensor to g.nerate fast decisions at seismolog.cal control centers, increasing.the possibility of having.an effective reaction.
