Current methods for predicting missing values in datasets often rely on simplistic approaches such as taking median value of attributes, limiting their applicability. Real-world observations can be diverse, taking stock price as example, ranging from prices post-IPO to values before a company’s collapse, or instances where certain data points are missing due to stock suspension. In this paper, we propose a novel approach using Nonlinear Matrix Completion (NIMC) and Deep Matrix Completion (DIMC) to predict associations, and conduct experiment on financial data between dates and stocks. Our method leverages various types of stock observations to capture latent factors explaining the observed date-stock associations. Notably, our approach is nonlinear, making it suitable for datasets with nonlinear structures, such as the Russell 3000. Unlike traditional methods that may suffer from information loss, NIMC and DIMC maintain nearly complete information, especially in high-dimensional parameters. We compared our approach with state-of-the-art linear methods, including Inductive Matrix Completion, Nonlinear Inductive Matrix Completion, and Deep Inductive Matrix Completion. Our findings show that the nonlinear matrix completion method is particularly effective for handling nonlinear structured data, as exemplified by the Russell 3000. Additionally, we validate the information loss of the three methods across different dimensionalities.

It has been said that,once a bomb casing has fractured, "detonation gases will then stream around the fragments or bypass them,and the acceleration process stops there." However,while apparently copious gas flow through casing fractures indicates some pressure release,it is also an indication of significant gas drive pressure,post casing *** paper shows two approaches to the problem of calculating the actual loss of *** presents first-order analytical calculations,in cylindrical geometry,of pressure loss to the inside surface of a fractured *** second shows the modelling of a selected example in the CTH *** approaches reveal that gas escape,while occurring at its own soundspeed relative to the adjacent casing fragments,has to compete with rapid radial expansion of the *** with some historic experiments now publicly available,our calculations indicate that post-fracture casing fragment acceleration is,for most systems,unlikely to be reduced significantly.

A benchtop brain injury model using resected donor tissue from patients with Chiari malformation

The use of live animal models for testing new therapies for brain and spinal cord repair is a controversial area. Live animal models have associated ethical issues and scientific concerns regarding the predictability of human responses. Alternative models that replicate the 3 D architecture of the central nervous system have prompted the development of organotypic neural injury models. However, the lack of reliable means to access normal human neural tissue has driven reliance on pathological or post-mortem tissue which limits their biological utility. We have established a protocol to use donor cerebellar tonsillar tissue surgically resected from patients with Chiari malformation(cerebellar herniation towards the foramen magnum, with ectopic rather than diseased tissue) to develop an in vitro organotypic model of traumatic brain injury. Viable tissue was maintained for approximately 2 weeks with all the major neural cell types detected. Traumatic injuries could be introduced into the slices with some cardinal features of post-injury pathology evident. Biomaterial placement was also feasible within the in vitro lesions. Accordingly, this ‘proof-of-concept’ study demonstrates that the model offers potential as an alternative to the use of animal tissue for preclinical testing in neural tissue engineering. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration that donor tissue from patients with Chiari malformation can be used to develop a benchtop model of traumatic brain injury. However, significant challenges in relation to the clinical availability of tissue were encountered, and we discuss logistical issues that must be considered for model scale-up.

基于哈特里-福克的增长法与量子快速多极展开方法相结合对大体系的计算可以达到线性标度。然而,只要把双电子积分从原子轨道转换到定域轨道,然后直接从定域分子轨道构建福克矩阵是更加简单的方法。增长法采用截断的手段剔除那些不需要转换的积分从而每一步增长法的计算量几乎不变,这些手段包括采用舒瓦茨不等式、分子轨道系数的筛选、以及利用杂化轨道等可进一步减少双电子转换的数目。对水分子链体系的测试证明线性标度是可以达到的。这个新方法表明如果一个相互作用区域不超过120个定域分子轨道,它就比从原子轨道构建福克矩阵的方法更有效率。

Objective:Brain metastasis is considered rare in metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC);thus,surveillance imaging does not routinely include the *** reported incidence of brain metastases ranges from 0.6% to 3.2%.Methods:The South Australian mCRC Registry(SAmCRC)was analyzed to assess the number of patients presenting with brain metastasis during their *** to small numbers,a descriptive analysis is ***:Only 59 patients of 4,100 on the registry at the time of analysis had developed brain metastasis(1.4%).The clinical characteristics of those with brain metastasis were as follows:the median age was 65.3 years and 51% were *** the V-Ki-ras2 Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog(KRAS)mutation status of the tumor was known,the majority harbored a KRAS mutation(55%);31(53%)underwent craniotomy and 55(93%)underwent whole-brain *** median survival time from diagnosis of brain metastasis was 4.2 months(95% confidence interval 2.9–5.5).Patients who underwent craniotomy and radiotherapy had superior survival compared to those who underwent whole-brain radiotherapy(8.5 months vs.2.2 months,respectively).Data from the SAmCRC(a population-based registry)confirm that brain metastases are rare and the median time to development is approximately 2 ***:Brain metastasis is a rare outcome in advanced *** within the registry tended to be female,young in age,and harbored with higher rates of KRAS *** routine surveillance brain scanning should be considered remains controversial given the relative rarity of developing brain metastases in mCRC and ultimately,most patients with central nervous system involvement die from their extracranial disease.
