Diluent decomposition-assisted formation of Li F-rich solid-electrolyte interfaces enables high-energy Li-metal batteries

Passivation by the inorganic-rich solid electrolyte interphase(SEI),especially the LiF-rich SEI,is highly desirable to guarantee the durable lifespan of Li metal batteries(LMBs).Here,we report a diluent with the capability to facilitate the formation of LiF-rich SEI while avoiding the excess consumption of Li *** to most of reported inert diluents,heptafluoro-l-methoxypropane(HM) is firstly demonstrated to cooperate with the decomposition of anions to generate LiF-rich SEI via releasing Fcontaining species near Li *** designed electrolyte consisting of 1.8 M LiFSI in the mixture of1,2-dimethoxyethane(DME)/HM(2:1 by vol.) achieves excellent compatibility with both Li metal anodes(Coulombic efficiency~99.8%) and high-voltage cathodes(4.4 V LiNi_(0.8)Mn_(0.1)Co_(0.1)O_(2)(NMC811) and 4.5 V LiCoO_(2)(LCO) vs Li^(+)/Li).The 4.4 V Li(20μm)‖NMC811(2.5 mA h cm^(-2)) and 4.5 V Li(20μm)‖LCO(2.5 mA h cm^(-2)) cells achieve capacity retentions of 80% over 560 cycles and 80% over 505 cycles,***,the anode-free pouch cell delivers an energy density of~293 W h kg^(-1)initially and retains 70% of capacity after 100 deep *** work highlights the critical impact of diluent on the SEI formation,and opens up a new direction for designing desirable interfacial chemistries to enable high-performance LMBs.

A single water monomer is known as a hard-to-observe molecule even in the presence of metal surfaces as supporting matrix. This review highlights effort in experimental characterizations and theoretical modeling of transition metals supported water monomers with attention given to its structure and bonding, together with the insights that we have provided into the bonding nature of the water-interactions by the newly employed projected PDOS （partial density of states） difference analysis, which is proved to be an effective tool to be elucidate such bonding nature. The general s-d hybridization and d-shell effect are summarized, and how these effects can be tuned by tailoring local surface configurations is discussed.

Effect of Sputtered TiAlCr Coatings on Oxidation and Hot Corrosion Resistance of Ti-24Al-14Nb-3V

The effect of sputtered Ti-50Al-10Cr and Ti-50A1-20Cr coatings on both isothermal and cyclic oxidation resistance at 800-900℃ and hot corrosion resistance at 850℃ of Ti-24Al-14Nb-3V was investigated. Results indicated that Ti-24Al-14Nb-3V alloys exhibited poor oxidation resistance due to the formation of Al2O3+TiO2+AlNbO4 mixed scales in air at 800-900℃ and poor hot corrosion resistance due to the spoliation of scales formed in Na2SO4+K2SO4 melts at 850℃. Both Ti-50Al-10Cr and Ti-50Al-20Cr coatings remarkably improved the oxidation and hot corrosion resistance of Ti-24Al-14Nb-3V alloy.

HOT CORROSION PERFORMANCE OF AMORPHOUS Al_2O_3 COATING

The amorphous Al2O3 coatings were prepared on superalloy GH30 by dc reactive sputtering. Hot corrosion behaviors of the coated and uncoated specimens were studied in 75％Na2SO4+25％K2SO4 melt at I 123 K by either immersing the samples half in sulphate or applying sulphate deposit. The Al2O3 coatings reduced the hot corrosion rates by about one magnitude, and the internal sulphidation was not observed in the Al2O3 coated specimens.

In Situ Scanning-Tunneling-Microscope Observation on Dissolution of a Cu-20Zr Film

A nanocrystalline coating of Cu-20Zr (in wt pct) was obtained on glass by magnetron sputtering. The corrosion behavior of the Cu-20Zr film in 0.001 mol/L HCI solution was investigated using potentiodynamic polarization and in situ electrochemical scanning-tunneling-microscopy (ECSTM). Results demonstrated that the film exhibits active behavior. Microscopic pitting corrosion and tunneling are caused by localized electrodissolution of Zr atoms and the diffusion of Cu atoms at surface defects.

Titanium alloys possess excellent corrosion resistance in marine environments,thus the possibility of their corrosion caused by marine microorganisms is *** this work,microbiologically influenced corrosion(MIC)of TC4 titanium alloy caused by marine Pseudomonas aeruginosa was investigated through electrochemical and surface characterizations during a 14-day immersion *** revealed that the unstable surface caused by *** resulted in exposure of Ti_(2)O_(3) and severe pitting corrosion with maximum pit depth of 5.7μm after 14 days of ***-1-carboxylate(PCN),secreted by ***,promoted extracellular electron transfer(EET)and accelerated *** of the phzH gene,which codes for the enzyme that catalyzes PCN production,from the *** genome,resulted in significantly decreased rates of *** results demonstrate that TC4 titanium alloy is not immune to marine MIC,and EET contributes to the corrosion of TC4 titanium alloy caused by ***.

The yttraluminizing coating on the Ni-base superalloys has been developed by dipping the specimens in a specially made yttrium-containing slurry as an underlayer and over spraying a Cr-Al slurry as a protective layer,then heating to 1060℃ and holding for 1 h under argon *** by EPMA showed that the yttrium was concentrated in the intermediate zone of the coating as metallic compound *** exposure to air up to 1000℃,the oxidation test revealed that the anti-oxidation resistance of the yttraluminizing coating with post-aluminizing is much superior to that with single aluminizing only.

HOT CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF K38G ALLOY AND ITS SPUTTERED NANOCRYSTALLINE COATING BY PRE-DEPOSITED SULFATE AT 900℃

The sputtered nanocrystalline coating of K38G alloy was obtained by magnetron sput-tering. The hot corrosion behaviors of cast K38G alloy and its sputtered nanocrys-talline coating by pre-deposited 75wt%Na2SO4+25wt%K2SO4 at 900℃ were studied. The results indicated the occurrence of internal sulfidation in the cast K38G alloy with pre-deposited sulfattes of 0.8 and 3.0mg/cm2. However, the internal sulfidation was not observed in the coating with pre-deposited 0.8mg/cm2 sulfate. The hot corrosion resistance of K38G alloy was clearly enhanced through nanocrystallinzation, although the internal sulfides were still formed for the coating with sulfate deposit of 3mg/cm2. The relevant hot corrosion mechanism was also discussed.

Corrosion Resistance of Ni-P Composite Coating on Mg Alloy:Critical Role of the Intermediate Phosphate Conversion Coating Layer for Suppressing Galvanic Couple Formation

Electroless nickel(EN)plating can give rise to the severe galvanic corrosion of the magnesium(Mg)alloy matrix,owing to its nobler electrochemical potential than Mg *** hinder the formation of galvanic couple,an intermediate phosphate conversion coating(PCC)layer is introduced between the EN layer and the Mg alloy *** the ceramic-like PCC layer cannot be catalyzed,a low-cost Ag-activation technique is used to process the PCC layer before electroless *** cross-section morphology and element distribution of the PCC-EN composite coating indicate that the PCC intermediate layer can effectively separate the Mg alloy from the EN ***,the results of electrochemical tests suggest that the PCC-EN composite coating has a better corrosion resistance in comparison with the EN coating and AZ91D Mg alloy.
